On June 28, Andrey Desmond assaulted Connecticut State Representative Maryam Khan outside the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Khan was leaving an Eid al-Adha prayer service with her family and friends when Desmond put her in a headlock, tried to kiss her, slapped her, knocked her to the ground, and ran off.
“Rep. Maryam Khan assaulted after Muslim service in Hartford,” by Mark Pazniokas and Dave Altimari, The Connecticut Mirror, June 28, 2023:
Andrey Desmond, 30, of New Britain, was arrested and being detained Wednesday night by Hartford police in connection with the attack. He was charged with 2nd degree unlawful restraint, 3rd degree assault, 2nd degree breach of peace and interfering with police.
Now, more than a week later, Khan has made a public statement about the assault. She claims she has a concussion, her left shoulder is numb, and her nose is out of joint. She is mad. But she is not mad at the person who did this to her.
She is mad at the police for supposedly not protecting her. Of course, the police were there, but they left when the event at the XL Center was over. Khan is angry that the police report did not mention she was Muslim, and that they did not escort her to her car. She is also mad at the EMT’s who told her she had no injuries.
Khan is calling for an investigation into how “so many systems failed that day”.
Predictably, local TV stations are turning to the Executive Director of the Connecticut chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Farhan Memon, for comment. News12 CT’s Eric Landskroner seems so comfortable with CAIR that he does not even bother giving any identifying information about the organization. This is how TV stations around the country treat CAIR: as if they just fell out of the sky, or are a product of spontaneous generation.
So for the uninitiated, as well as credulous TV stations, here are some facts about CAIR.
According to sources including the FBI, the Treasury Department, the Department of Justice, and a federal judge, CAIR is the American branch of Hamas.
- “The government has produced ample evidence of CAIR’s associations with Hamas. Source: legal decision of Jorge Solis; see top of pg. 15, Politico
- FBI officials are on camera saying they are distancing themselves from CAIR. Source: Oklahoma’s KWTV CBS9
- FBI: CAIR is a front group. Source: The Dallas Morning News
- During a CAIR Zoom conference call, Nihad Awad refers to Israel as the occupation.
- Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell refers to Hamas as a foreign organization, but CAIR proves its affinity with Hamas every time “Palestine” enters the news. That’s when CAIR will get on TV and accuse Israel of genocide. CAIR will also organize Palestine rallies that accuse Israel of a “holocaust.”
Right now, the executive director of CAIR is cheering on the riots in France, which is exactly the same thing CAIR did during the George Floyd riots.
According to Rutgers University’s Network Contagion Research Institute, CAIR had a role in inspiring the 2022 Colleyville terror incident. Local TV newscasters worked to whitewash CAIR’s involvement in what was an international news story live-streamed on social media, that then disappeared without a trace.
CAIR is on TV news every day somewhere around the country, but no TV station anywhere ever reports anything critical of this group. Instead, TV stations feature CAIR in broadcasts about things that have nothing to do CAIR.
There are CAIR broadcasts about fingers, PizzaHut, Hmong people, Confederate flags, Civil War monuments, Black Lives Matter, the 1619 Project, the Atlanta Spa Shootings, the Capitol riots, Derek Chauvin, white people, Jewish misfortunes, Facebook comments, the KKK, Nazis, George Floyd, nooses, misspelled Starbucks cups, Christopher Columbus, ICE raids, graffiti, swastikas, girl’s HS softball game, the word “squaw,” a “racist” bank charge, William Harllee, High School basketball games, a Tempe hate crime, etc.
But there are no CAIR broadcasts showing the organization assisting in counter-terror efforts. Likewise, there are no CAIR broadcasts depicting the organization confronting anti-Semitic imams. Instead, it tattles on Catholic priests.
There is no TV coverage of news stories about CAIR that are unflattering to the group. For example, there is no TV coverage of CAIR’s campaign to destroy the Terrorist Screening Database, or watchlist system. Source: New York Times, Newsweek, Washington Post.
And there is no TV coverage of the National Public Radio report about the former executive director of CAIR-FLA resigning amid allegations of domestic abuse. Source: NPR
No TV station wants to touch the story of elementary school teacher Tamar Herman suing CAIR for defamation in New Jersey. This is despite several local newscasters reporting CAIR’s rumors as fact.
This defamation lawsuit should be of particular interest to the public, because CAIR uses its media access to attack people at a rate, now, of three times per month. There are over 140 examples of CAIR clashing with people on TV: defaming a person, threatening someone’s livelihood, or exposing someone to danger. This has been going on for almost six years.

Notable examples from the past include:
- CAIR had ABC affiliate WSB defame a sitting judge to influence a legal decision. Even after CAIR’s client received a favorable decision on appeal, and Judge Dickson stepped down from the bench to take a lower paying job in another city, CAIR had the TV station follow her there and broadcast its demand the city fire her from that position as well.
- CAIR turned the town of Dearborn against Bill Larion for using the word “camels” in a Facebook post. ABC affiliate WXYZ was a willing participant in Larion’s persecution.
- CAIR turned the town of Toms River against Dan Leonard for mocking and scoffing at Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Sharia law. CAIR did nothing to calm the situation down after Leonard’s daughter received rape threats.
- CAIR used a rumor on social media to get on TV four times and call for a teacher’s termination while she was under police protection.
- CAIR was a major contributing factor in Hamline University’s decision to fire a professor for showing a picture of Muhammad in class.
During the News12 interview, the station is presenting CAIR as a reliable source for information. Farhan Memon tells us what the police report supposedly said, what Maryam Khan supposedly said, and what the security protocols for the event center supposedly are. This is completely inappropriate. Information like that should come from the police, Maryam Khan, the XL Center, or News12.
CAIR is a very manipulative organization. All of its Hate Reports are bogus.
- Here is CAIR manipulating the media in Olympia, Washington, where the organization claimed that someone threw a “device” at an Islamic center. Only one of the seven broadcasts about this story mentioned the police saying it was only a firework.
- Missouri’s FOX2 constructed a fake news story for CAIR, claiming the Capitol rioters were coming to kill CAIR, and the FBI was involved. KTVI never showed us the supposed threat, and the statement from the FBI was just boilerplate.
- Watch this TV station presenter fall all over himself as soon as CAIR walks in.
- CAIR knows they have carte blanche to come on any Minneapolis TV station and say irresponsible things such as “Minnesota killed George Floyd.”
- This broadcast left out salient details about CAIR’s activities in a Connecticut public school.
CAIR’s attempt to blame the police for what happened to Maryam Khan is very similar to what happened in Minnesota a few days ago, when CAIR tried to blame a car crash on the police.
There is an entire category of TV broadcasts in which CAIR is either attacking the police, or importuning law enforcement to arrest someone who gave a Muslim the finger, spray painted “utterly blessed” on the side of a building, or made a phone prank.
Another recurring feature of CAIR is the organization’s contempt for the mentally ill. When reporter Landskroner asked the CAIR spokesman if Andrey Desmond’s mental health might be a mitigating factor, Farhan Memon says it was still a bias crime regardless.
This is the position of CAIR across the board. In Georgia, CAIR says police should charge a man with what he did, and authorities can sort out his mental state later.
The man who runs CAIR in Minnesota also said that mental illness is not an excuse for hate crimes.
But CAIR is quite hypocritical in this regard. When a Muslim woman went off her meds in Georgia and began advancing towards Northview High School while brandishing a knife, police shot and killed her. CAIR was incensed that police did not take her mental state into consideration.
The man who runs CAIR National said the Fort Hood shooter was a disturbed individual.
There is an entire category of TV newscasts in which CAIR tries to charge a mentally ill person with a crime.
Because TV stations around the country treat appearances of CAIR on a broadcast as isolated, disconnected atoms that have no connection to anything that came before, the public does not know that Andrey Desmond is CAIR’s 23rd target of the year.
Despite the fact that police have taken Desmond into custody and charged him, Maryam Khan has nothing good to say about the police. She is calling for an “investigation” into the “failures” of that day. And CAIR is also calling for an investigation of the police. Which makes the local area police in this incident CAIR’s 24th target of the year.
There are no local area newscasts about: where CAIR came from, who their friends are, where their money comes from, what court cases they have been involved in, what other people have said about them, or how they arrogated the authority, several times a month, to try to have someone fired on TV.
Note: Nazis are bad. We do not need CAIR to tell us that. Denouncing Nazis on TV is not CAIR’s job. They should instead confront anti-Semitic imams, or assist in counter-terror efforts, but they never, ever do that. CAIR’s condemnation of Nazis on TV is completely inappropriate.
Instead, we need a designated spokesman for the police who can tell the public on TV just how hostile CAIR really is. Because it appears CAIR wants to control the police in the way they control the media.
This year’s targets so far:
- Nazi Club 131

Dear Maryam
Any police report that mentioned your name would have left it obvious that you’re a muslimah, since the only non-muslims who use that name – Mongols – don’t use it nowadays.
somehistory says
Yes, this was on the msn feed more than once….the first time, she was quoted, but the second time, she was “speaking out”…(how I hate that term)
Both times, it was the *fault* of the police for not protecting such a large group of mozlums. When she “spoke out,” she said she was on a “long journey” back to being well again.
Play it for all you can wring out of a nothing-burger of an ”assault”
It truly reads as if the guy was high or drunk…perhaps thinking she was his ex, his wife, his girlfriend with whom he was having domestic problems.
It’s likely we haven’t heard the last of this whining, attention-seeking, mozlum.
We know for certain, it’s not the last we’ll hear from c.a.i.r.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
On one hand, muslims are so good at assaulting anyone who attacks them. Otoh, they’re so good at whining when they’re attacked, that no one is protecting them!
Normally, I don’t condone thugs, but given how lenient we are towards criminals these days, I’d be fine w/ letting Andrey Desmond off w/ a mild slap on the wrists
somehistory says
Evidently, no serious harm was done, contrary to her claims.
I think he was drunk or high or maybe he’s a mental case. Wouldn’t he really have to be to want to kiss her?
Give him probation and advise not to go near the mozlums again…for his own good.
Hoi Polloi says
Or the famous mental health treatment accorded to violent muslims for the mental issues you sagely note he must have.
somehistory says
Yes, like the mozlum murderer in France who was *mental* from drug use and gets let out of the hospital to play. Like that.
Bexarkat says
Obviously, the officers were there on an off-duty (extra paid job) capacity. They go when dismissed or when originally agreed to the employment contract. The police have no obligation to stay. If she is so worried, she should hire a personal security detail like her gal pal Cori Bush.
Hoi Polloi says
So she and CAIR(s not about truth) exhibit a proportionate amount of grief at the actual, non-imaginary violence of muslims perpetrated against all other humans for 1400 years, right Maryam Con(Artist)? Or the far worse they do to women when they’re not out practicing taqiyah like this one?
Huapakechi says
An outraged moslem. Is there any other kind?
OLD GUY says
If this were a Christian women attacked by a muslim Khan would be defending the attacker.
