Connecticut: Fox 61 reports TikTok video claiming harassment of hijab-wearing Muslimas as news

Should TV stations report on trending TikTok videos? And if so, how should they do those reports?

Let us see how Connecticut’s WTIC Fox 61 handles the question.

Fox 61 begins a news segment describing a “shocking incident” of a “verbal attack” against two Muslim women wearing hijabs on a Hartford rail train in Connecticut.

But then the co-anchor immediately downgrades the “attack” to “inappropriate comments,” before handing the broadcast over to the reporter.

It turns out that this is all about a TikTok video that has 700,016 views online and received 3,600 comments. The video shows a woman sitting on the train with her hand in front of her face, clearly indicating that she does not want the two woman sitting across the aisle to record her. The supposed victims of this “attack” are taunting, giggling, and calling her names:

“Racist number one,” “Say Hi to TikTok,” “Say it louder,” “You’re ignorant.”

The woman who posted the video has not filed any official complaint. Likewise, no police or Department of Transportation report has been filed. And the woman, who does not mind videoing people against their will, does not want her face shown on the news.

 The woman believes she and her mother were targeted as they were wearing hijabs and were worried about their safety. That’s when she pulled out her phone and began recording.

“I didn’t know what to do. What she was going to do next. I didn’t know if she had any weapons on her,” she said.

One has to wonder why the two did not get up and sit somewhere else.

The woman said she’s lived in Connecticut her entire life and the recent attack on State Representative Maryam Khan last month added anxiety.

“It hit pretty close to home, and I thought of her during this event, and I said to myself, ‘Is this what Connecticut is coming to?’” she said.

It seems that she might want some of the attention Maryam Khan received for insinuating that police did not protect her from an assault.

This is not a news story. Apparently, TV stations are unable to resist a combination of cell phone video from a Muslim showing a white person engaging in supposedly racist behavior: here, here, and here.

And, one more from WTIC, where two Muslim girls approach a woman at the Buckland Hills Macy’s. They begin taunting, challenging, and laughing at her, before the two parties go their separate ways. This was when Fox 61 brought in nothing-burger helper, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), to try and bring these two parties together.

We feel that respectful, civilized communication can be an effective tool to prevent future incidents like this.

Does CAIR’s Tark Aouadi have a license to do couples counseling? Or is this the preview of some kind of sharia police force?

This might be a good time to take a very quick look at the FBI’s latest hate crime statistics. Notice that anti-white hate crimes is the second largest category right after anti-black or African American. This has been true for the last 20 years. The number of “hate crimes” against white people has never fallen out of the top five in the list of categories.

In contrast, anti-Muslim hate crimes have never broken into the top five. The latest report lists Anti-Muslim hate at number 15.

When the race hustlers start talking to you in terms of percentages, keep in mind that there are only 7,287 hate crimes in the FBI report. That is 0.002 percent of the U.S. population, not exactly an explosion.

You would never know that from listening to your local TV newscast. Instead, you will be all up to date on the cranky old lady from Hartford, Connecticut.
