Andrew Hussey of The Guardian writes sympathetically of the Muslim rioters in France, claiming that they are angry because they feel “the ideals of the Republic” do not apply to them. More of his comment can be found here: “In the suburbs, too many feel France’s founding ideals don’t apply to them,” by Andrew Hussey, The Guardian, July 1, 2023. He begins by quoting a young Muslim, Bashir, with whom we are expected to sympathize:
Unprompted, Bashir said: “It doesn’t just feel a war. It is a war. It is a war against us, the people who live in places like this,” he said, gesturing to the housing estate behind us. “I am now 40 years old, I have a master’s degree and a family, but all of my life I have been discriminated against and humiliated, always by the police. And now this has happened. People can’t take any more.”
Hussey comments:
If there is a war in France it is being fought, for now at least, in symbolic rather than military terms. Amid all the chaos, it has been noticeable that rioters have attacked not only police stations, but town halls, tax offices, schools – any public institution that belongs to the French republic.
Do 245 shopping malls and thousands of shops pillaged and destroyed, 3000 cars and 500 busses set on fire, libraries, doctors’ offices, schools, and two dozen city halls set alight, an attempt to murder a mayor, and the savage beatings inflicted on policemen by Muslim mobs strike you, as they apparently strike Andrew Hussey, as merely a “symbolic” war? I’d call it a real war, a war by Muslims in France to steal or destroy what belongs to the hated French.
The anger is being focused against everything the republic stands for – which is ultimately the democratic ideal of “liberty, equality and fraternity”. The reason is that a large part of the marginalised population in the banlieues feel this ideal doesn’t apply to them, or that quite simply it is a lie.
The maghrébins did not riot because they give a damn about liberté, égalité, fraternité. Liberty means nothing to Muslims, used to being ruled by despots for the past 1400 years. In Arab countries today, it is hereditary monarchs and generals and despots who rule. Equality – that’s not what the Muslims of France want. They want Islamic supremacism; why should they , the “best of peoples,” be expected to endure “equality” with the French, who as Infidels are “the most vile of created beings”? And for the same reason, there can be no “fraternity” with the infidel French. Nor can even be simple friendship “with the Christians and Jews, for they are friends only with each other.” They rioted because they had an excuse, they rioted because they wanted to steal stuff, to engage — what fun! — in an orgy of destruction, to attack the police and, all the while, sure that the French left would continue to express a diseased sympathy for them as, in fact, it has.
Emmanuel Macron faces severe challenges in the coming days. The priority will be to somehow restore order, with minimum casualties. At the same time he has an angry and mutinous police force to deal with as well as the risk of the riots continuing to break out over several weeks, or longer, as they did in 2005.
The police force is right to be angry. Does Andrew Hussey know why? Has he forgotten that even before Florian M., the policeman who shot Nahel Merzouk, has had a trial, Macron declared his act to be “inexplicable” and “ unforgivable”? Whatever happed to the presumption of innocence? And did Macron really not know what happened at that fatal encounter, when Nahel Merzouk suddenly accelerated his car, throwing the policeman off balance, and the gun he was holding, which had been pointed at the driver’s leg, at the moment of firing was pointed toward his chest?
Nonetheless, this may well be the moment for the French government, and the people who live in France, to begin a longer-term reflection on whether the French republic as it stands is still fit for purpose in the 21st century.
Yes, such a reflection is necessary, but not in the way Andrew Hussey thinks. The question is whether France, and the superior civilization of the French, will be able to survive a relentless demographic conquest by permanently hostile Muslims, or whether the French, having now been alerted to the possibility of a mass uprising by Muslims, will now impose the measures that are necessary. These should include a complete halt to Muslim immigration, the deportation of all Muslims convicted of crimes back to their countries of origin, and an end to the extensive governmental largesse that millions of Muslims now enjoy. Only thus will those put-upon French manage to prevail.
A famous song from the 1930s by the French singer Mistinguett comes swimmingly to mind: “J’en ai marre” or “I’ve had enough.” A great many of the people of France, having endured the last week’s horrors, have finally had enough.

This is nothing but an admission the mass migration of North African Muslims to France failed. He is trying to blame France for it, which in a way it was because they allowed it to happen. Bottom line is it didn’t work out for France & it didn’t work out for the Muslims.
France should accept their experiment failed & abandon their stupid migration policies. I doubt they will though, if they do they would have to admit they made a mistake & governments don’t do that.
Rufolino says
Governments don’t admit mistakes, true.
But the Opposition (eg. Zemmour) is constantly pointing them out.
So far the majority aren’t listening.
France continues to destroy its future.

Yes, I enjoyed Le Pen’s speech in Parliament, she really gave it to them. The leftists had a shocked look on their face as she spoke.

Has Andrew Hussey of the Guardian read the secret Explanatory Memorandum of the Muslim Brotherhood, captured in a police raid, where it states that the Islamic objective is “destroying the Western Civilisation from within”?
Has Andrew Hussey heard how in Islam’s rules everywhere that is not Dar al Islam, the Realm of Islam, is Dar al Harb, the Realm of War?
Is Andrew Hussey aware that the Koran, all of it, forms part of Islamic law?
Does Andrew Hussey know that Koran 4:101 states “Indeed the unbeliever is a clear enemy”?
Or that Koran 60:4 expresses praise for “between us and you enmity and hatred forever”?
Or that Koran 9:123 instructs, of unbelievers, “let them find harshness in you”?
Or that Koran 2:191 instructs, “Kill them wherever you find them”?
Doubtful.
Homework needed.

That Muslim rioting in Paris , France isn’t limited to that nation. Such Islamic rioting occurs in the other countries of Europe as well .as in for example Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark Sweden Germany etc.
This unthankful Islamic spirit on the part of those lawless violent Muslims who immigrated to the countries of Europe may be explain, in part, by the fact that the Muslim fundamentalist group that even had the president of Egypt assassinated in the month of October of the year 1981 has a fifty –five booklet that is was written only for Muslims fundamentalists but was later discover by non-Muslims.
This booklet’s title is THE NEGLECTED DUTY. One scholar, Johannes Jansen who had thoroughly investigated Islam and Islamic terrorism has even discover that those Muslims, who had entered Europe of behaved in violent and heinous ways, are actually action out what they view and a sacred individual duty of the jihad as by engaging in awful violent criminal action in non-Muslim lands . As Jansen revealed that jihad booklet of Islam, THE NEGLECTED DUTY “contains all the ideological material needed to justify the attacks of 9/11 or any other acts of terror committed to frighten non-Muslims. And he thinks the document explains the criminal behavior of suburban and center –city immigrant youngsters in many European cities; its author clearly ‘sees Islam as license to kill rob and commit arson.’ “ [1]
Nevertheless, many of the apologists for Islam still have that blatant gall , in spite of all the facts of reality, to actually make the claim the Islam is a “peaceful religion.” What a totally false to make that Islam is “a peaceful religion “What Bull! A “peaceful religion” indeed.

Those horrendously horrible riots in the city of Paris along with the arson extreme violence and murder that is also part of it does have the insidious hand of jihadist instigation in it a major way.
Another jihadist evil in a smaller way but still very tragic was an earlier Muslim terrorist vehicle murder of a young French woman is a evil and tragic reminder that ISIS had called for and is still is calling for “lone wolf” Islamic terrors attack in France.
Even before that heinous intentional vehicle jihad murder was that jihadist shooter and murderer in Strasbourg are revealing if the vicious nature of both ISIS and I slam of which the Islamic “state” is built upon. There were also those brutal murderous Islamic terror attacks of Charlie Hebdo and then later th ose jihad ISIS attack in Paris, France, on November 13, 2015 and then that Nice, France jihad murdering jihad attack. Then those vicious and murdering ISIS jihad terror attacks in Paris France on July 14, 2016. Even before those malicious ISIS jihad attacks an ISIS audio recording broadcasted on September 2014 declared “If you can kill a disbelieving American or European especially the spiteful and filthy French …kill him in any manner or way however it may be.” [1]
This alone exposes the vicious and malicious way of thinking of the jihadist who composes ISIS. The result of this wicked mindset where those heinously malice – filled jihad mindset was carried out by those by those Islamic jihadist deadly attacks in Paris and Nice. Furthermore the jihadists of ISIS sure have some gall calling the French “spiteful” since it’s the jihadist ISIS thugs who are so very spiteful that they murder people in many extremely cruel ways. Likewise, the ISIS savages have some gall calling the French “filthy” Since it’s the ISIS jihadist villains who the ones who are so lawless and vile that the kidnap and rape both girls and women.
Therefore, it’s only a matter of time before the people who the citizens of the nation of France
Experience the horrors of other Islamic terror attack or attacks. In another city of town of France. In other words, it’s not a matter of “if “but of “when.”

marginalised population in the banlieues feel ……. that they are not personally responsible for their “marginalization,” nor for their refusal to respect and obey French law, nor for their delusion that the best of France would be handed to them on a platter, nor any of the rest of it. So no one can have peace.
Andrew Hussey sounds like every evil individual I’ve ever encountered who hated good and loved evil.

My experience with people on the left is that they do not listen. They do not read articles like this, and do not listen if one tries to talk about what is happening. I have had that experience in Europe a number of times. This article is preaching to the choir, as it were. Too bad, but as the song goes. When will they ever learn? In fact, they never will. England had similar exfperiences in the past, and they did not listen to Enoch Powell warning them against unrestricted immigration. Now they have it again, and again they are not listening. And our leaders know what is happening, but they want it to happen. Burn it down so you can build a new and better country, that is a leftist dictatorship. That is what the Obamas and Bidens and Schumers want, and they are getting it. Like Nero burning down Rome to rebuild a newer better Rome.

Well it is the Guardian so one cannot expect anything sensible from that paper. They do not want the French republic to accept them since they reject the French Republic and all it stands for, because their Imams tell them it must be overthrown so that the best of systems, sharia can rule. Of course they enjoy the benefits such as health care and cheap but much better housing than what they would have in Muslim countries. However they do not accept the education system which teaches values foreign to their religion. They are also ready to murder any teacher who teaches anything they regard as critical of Islam. Then, surprise the French do not like them very much! I also wonder what kind of job the master’s degree holding Muslim has?
