Known as the “festival of love,” Holi is regarded as “one of the most revered and celebrated festivals of India,” but when a video of students celebrating the festival went viral at Islamabad University, Pakistan banned it at all its universities, in order to “uphold the cultural and moral values of Islam.” They say that Holi is “incompatible with the country’s identity.”
Pakistan continues rapidly to become a stricter Sharia country. Already infamous for its cruel blasphemy laws, Pakistan further ramped up its crackdown on so-called “blasphemers” this week and signed a 12-point agreement with the jihadist Tehreek-e-Labbaik Party.

Pakistan on Tuesday banned the celebration of Hindu festival of ‘Holi’ to check ‘erosion of Islamic identity’. The decision came after a video showing students at an Islamabad university celebrating the festival went viral. In response, the country’s Higher Education Commission issued a notification emphasising the ‘role’ of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in transforming youth, who “uphold the cultural and moral values of Islam”.
The commission, in its notification, said it was “sad” to witness incidents such as celebrating ‘Holi’, which show “a complete disconnect from the country’s socio-cultural values and an erosion of the country’s Islamic identity”. “One such instance that has caused concern was the fervour exhibited in marking Hindu festival of Holi…the widely publicised event has caused concern and has disadvantageously affected the country’s image.” the commission remarked.
The notification read that the commission has the responsibility to improve the Islamic nation’s higher education sector, by incorporating the principles ingrained in Pakistan’s culture, values, and traditions, ultimately preserving “the nation’s ideology”……

That festival occurs in Spring, usually in March. How did a video celebrating Holi go viral now: shouldn’t that have happened around then?
I think Paki Hindus are better off if Holi is officially banned, as opposed to being officially allowed but in fact subjected to all sorts of persecution by muslims
Incidentally, even in India, Holi is nowadays a lot more subdued, w/ all those woke PSAs calling on people to not celebrate it for some environmental reason or the other, from wastage of water to frightening animals. And this jihad has been adapted even by woke Hindus, who wouldn’t dare call out the barbaric slaughter of animals on Eid ul Adha

It is primarily the responsibility of all individual faiths to correct or rectify any unethical practices or inhuman behavior, if they observe it anywhere. It is not advisable to force any deviations by the other religions till they are not themselves convinced about it.
