Hamas-linked CAIR succeeds in having legal charges brought against a minor

In a follow-up to this story, the Islamic Center of Charlotte is now pressing charges against the two people who phoned in threats to the Center.

This is an unexplained reversal from news reports of two weeks ago, when Center spokesman Jibril Hough told the Charlotte Observer they would accept an apology. “Rambling call about ‘9/11’ was threat to Charlotte mosque, Islamic Center leader says,” by Joe Marusak, Charlotte Observer, May 24, 2023:

…Told of the man’s apology, Hough said: “If he’s sincere, it’s well received.”

Still, Hough said, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department needs to follow up by at least visiting the caller’s address to show, just by an officer’s presence, how seriously the department treats such calls. And the department should help ensure the caller receives counseling, he said.

“But our community doesn’t think (such threats) are taken as seriously as they should be” by law enforcement agencies, Hough said.

“We deserve better than what we’re getting,” Hough said about the response of law enforcement agencies to such calls.

Considering the threat consisted of “I’ll blow you harder than 9/11,” this all sounds very reasonable on the Islamic Center’s part. As the Charlotte Municipal Police said in a statement:

The investigation concluded that the verbiage communicated during the call did not rise to a criminal level.

But this week, news came that the Islamic Center of Charlotte has changed its mind.

“Two Spartanburg Residents Charged For Threats Made On East Charlotte Mosque,” by Gary Brode, WCCB Charlotte, June 6, 2023:

Two people are facing charges for threatening a mosque in east Charlotte.

Back in May, the Islamic Center Of Charlotte received phone calls threatening an explosion on the mosque that would be “worse than 9/11”.

According to a CMPD spokesperson, after the initial investigation, officers identified the callers who admitted to making the calls and apologized. The victim initially didn’t want to pursue charges but changed their mind.

CMPD charged a juvenile and a 19-year-old with communicating threats. Both suspects live in Spartanburg.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released this statement: “We welcome the charges in this disturbing case and hope that if the suspects are convicted, they will be given an opportunity learn about the American Muslim community and about why threats to any house of worship are unacceptable,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Unfortunately, as this story illustrates, the suspects are not going to learn as much about the American Muslim community as they are going to learn about the hypocritical, vindictive bully, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations.
