Maya Jamaleddine is in the news again.
We last saw her in December, when the Melrose, Massachusetts City Council member used a council meeting to share her experience of receiving a hate crime.
“To the person who attacked us, I wish you heard me, I thought your car was rolling back and no one was controlling it, so I was trying to help you,” Jamaleddine said.
She also said the other woman yelled at her family to “go back to your (expletive) country.”
The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said that Jamaleddine’s husband went to record the woman’s license plate, at which point she shoved him several times while the couple’s children watched.
“Your Islamophobia and racism caused my little one trauma, and for that, I will not forgive you,” Jamaleddine said.
“(It’s) hard to believe that that’s still around but it is and we’ve got to recognize it,” said Melrose Mayor Paul Brodeur. “We do need people aware that this kind of stuff does happen, and make sure they understand it so they can push back or intervene appropriately.”
Fast forward to today, and we can see the Jamaledine cell phone video of the incident.
It is hard to be certain, but Joan Ditomaso is not saying anything, appears to be trying to get away from the belligerent Jamaledines. At one point she pushes Mr. Jamaledine away, and he welcomes the contact.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is disappointed that the 67-year-old Ditomaso is not being charged with a hate crime.
“We are disappointed that a clerk magistrate decided not to charge the defendant with a civil rights violation. But we respect the clerk’s decision, and we will be focusing our attention on the assault and battery case,” said CAIR’s Barbara Dougan.
Focusing on the assault and battery case might be a good idea, since:
- The Jamaledinees initiated the contact;
- They were never in fear of their safety;
- They suffered no damages;
- They were provoking and taunting Ditomaso.
However, Maya Jamaleddine has said that she “will never recover from this.”
It remains to be seen if the politically connected Maya Jamaleddine will prevail in court, but all this does bring to mind another CAIR caper from 2018, when two women were fighting about status over a cup of coffee.
This is the 17th CAIR TV attack this year. CAIR remains on a pace to have 36 such episodes on TV before the year is over.

You can wear what you want on your head but there is something interesting about the hijab.
