A priest was attacked, insulted and threatened in Lyon (Rhône) on Monday June 12, 2023 in his parish in the 8th arrondissement by young people after making a remark to them about a soccer ball.
The facts triggered unanimous support and condemnations, from the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin to the EELV Mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet, from the Prefect and representatives of the Catholic faith, the Archbishop of Lyon or Muslim, the President of the Council of Rhone mosques. The police opened an investigation and the priest eventually filed a complaint.
Actu Lyon was able to collect the testimony of Father Joseph Eid the day after the attack.
“I’m doing well ”
The victim assures us in the introduction to our interview: “I’m fine.” “There was mostly verbal aggression. I ended up on my knees and I was hit on the back of the neck, but I did not receive any punches,” continues this priest, who has been trying since the media coverage of his attack “to ease the tensions” in this sector, which is in the sensitive area straddling the 8th arrondissement and Vénissieux.A note on a soccer ball
His parish is close to a gymnasium with a football field where young people regularly play. It was by a ball dropping on parish grounds on Monday evening that the situation got out of hand.“There is a fence between the two fields but the balls often land on the parish grounds. They come to collect them without asking, without knowing that it is an intrusion. They also cut this fence,” says the priest to Actu Lyon.
“This time they entered the parish grounds and wanted to get their ball back. I made the remark to them without letting me do it but saying it respectfully. We can’t go in like that without permission, young people have to understand…”
These young people, who have a “lack of bearings” and “don’t respect anything,” according to the priest, also shouted “dirty Christian.” “I will neither confirm nor deny these insults. There were not only comments on religion (…) They are young people who say anything and do not measure their words,” he says.
In an attempt to ease possible new tensions, he assures that “the representatives of the Muslim faith have clearly condemned” the incidents.
He also received threats from his attackers, in particular those of “come and break the windows with young people older than them” assures the head of the Maronite parish of Notre Dame du Liban.
“These young people are familiar faces. They are fiery young people who think they have all the rights,” according to the priest.
The priest confided to Actu Lyon that he had no intention of filing a complaint after the attack on these “six or seven young people aged around 15 to 17.” “It’s not representative of the whole neighborhood,” he said.
But “the police encouraged me to file a complaint,” which he did.
The Lyon public prosecutor’s office confirmed the opening of an investigation “of the heads of degradation and violence without ITT committed in meetings and insults on the grounds of religion.” The police confirmed the complaint of the religious to Actu Lyon and that the investigation for “aggravated violence and degradation” continues.

If no complaint is filed, nothing will change with these “young” thugs. Since complaints were filed, then at the very least, the thugs can be punished for their crime of assault. Not likely to cause them to make changes, but at least they can be kept off the street…and the ball field, and the parish grounds…for a little while. They should be made to apologize for the discriminatory insults.
If it had been non-mozlums playing ball and the ball landed on mozlum barracks property, words were exchanged and a beating took place, one could bet their bottom dollar that complaints would be filed and mozlums all over would be calling out the ‘phobia’ squad for the insults.

Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and in His kingdom, there will be no “oppressive” rules, laws, regulations or practices.
It would be a great thing if there were enough True Christians….not those who are afraid to stand up for what Jesus said and those who turn a blind eye to the evils of islam, and other evils…to have a nation where every citizen tried his best to follow Christ.

This type of thuggish and totally intolerant and hate-filled behaviour by the Muslims is the only type of “wonderful” diversity that islam ever brings to any non-Muslim society that is foolish enough to let islam and its followers into that country. As the Muslims numbers increase such disgusting behaviour will increase until the society ends up as a hellish place for non-Muslims. Muslims are brought up to hate all non-Muslims. These Muslims call the priest a “dirty Christian”. It is the Muslims and their hate-filled attitude that is foul and morally as dirty and evil as it can be. Too many peaceful and gentle Christians cannot deal with thuggish islam and are too nice to call islam out as the evil religious ideology that it is.

Today it’s insults and thuggery, once Muslims increase their numbers it’ll escalate to the murder of priests and church-goers and burning of churches/homes and businesses (as we see in Africa and Pakistan for example).
The only reason Muslims aren’t doing that now is their population is not large enough to overpower the non-Muslims.
We need everyone, Christians, Atheists, LGBT, Jews, etc. to “hold the line” and we must back each other up.
I’ve seen the pattern in all countries it’s always the same…when the Muslims are 10-20% or greater, they start their jihads against us. In the meantime they work on using democracy to elect Islamic parties to power to destroy democracy.
Most people are blind and ignorant and don’t realize we are in a state of war. I don’t want Christians to lose in Nigeria or Europe…as an Atheist and despite having my differences with Christians, but they’re far more civilized than Muslims…the same goes for Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus and so on.
Ofc no one group can ‘hold the line’ by themselves…this is as much a war about demography as it is ideology. If Christians are outnumbered, they might be forced to leave the Muslim dominated area, but as a whole we must increase our numbers while we decrease theirs.
Until we have the right people in power, citizens will need to band together against this evil death cult.

Thanks and I totally agree with what you say there, Fitna. We non-Muslims do need to have a gigantic awakening to the malicious nature and intent of islam towards all of us. There is no doubt that once the Muslims have grown their numbers in any non-muslim country, they will be out to impose islam on all of us and I see islam as a horrendous load of evil and barbaric crap, so any inroads it makes in any country is a terrible development. It is an ongoing, 1400 year long war and we really do need most people in our societies to wake the hell up or we are big trouble.

You’re welcome and concurred…we absolutely need the vast majority ‘sleep giant’ in the West to wake up and unite against this barbaric ideology.
It spreads like a virus or bacteria consuming/destroying all the healthy cells in its path, growing larger exponentially (doubling every generation).
This is the real “power” of Islam, it’s ability to multiply so rapidly and because of its followers ferocity and inability to reason, to control themselves, each of them is willing to put their life on the line for this stupid, backwards, evil death cult.
It’s one thing if Muslims were actually spreading real freedom (which they cynically pretend they’re doing), enlightenment or somehow benefitting society but in reality they are dismantling all our hard-won freedoms, our gains in science/politics, equality for women/gays and others.
We non-Muslims are the ones building a better world and Islam is looking to demolish all that and drag humanity back to the Dark Ages, where barbarism, misery, hate, racism and violence reigns supreme, like in their crappy backwards Islamic shithole countries.
So I’m totally with you, hopefully in time most if not all non-Muslims in the West have that light-bulb go off in their heads and we unite against this virulent, deadly plague and end it once and for all.
Lastly people have to realize as well it’s a ‘zero-sum game.’ Muslims are fully invested in defeating us, winner take all and we must do the same or we will lose everything.

I agree, this “metaphorical cancer prevention / treatment” is critical for the survival of Western civilization:
The spread of islam to the West should be considered to be a cancer – and approached as such:
The best approach is, of course, primary prevention. Prevent essentially all muslim migration like Poland and Hungary.
The second best approach would be early detection. Being very vigilant regarding muslim migration, and deporting people who have infiltrated.
Further down the line, we look at treatment. If islam is localized in a Western country, it needs to be contained and subject to all of the laws of the host country in order to prevent metastasis. Also, muslims who break significant laws of the host country should be prosecuted and eventually deported.
Once metastasis occurs in a Western country and it becomes islamized with strict sharia law, it’s game over unless the host country decides to take military action.

I agree with your point of view, Fitna. To me, islam is a primitive, backward load of crap. It would drag us all back to living the way people lived in 7th century Arabia, a hideous prospect. I have to say that islam is a huge problem, but, as someone who lives in Australia, out in this area of the world, that vicious regime that runs China is probably an even bigger problem and threat for people here. I can see that regime dominating out here and bullying all countries in endless ways in the years ahead since it has built up such incredible military power..When it comes to islam, it is true that, if most people in our societies would wake up to how evil islam is, we could deal effectively with the threat it poses.

The points you’ve raised could be a good blueprint for dealing with Islam once we have a party in power that knows the threat and is serious about ‘curing’ this disease (really our nations).

You’re right, China esp. in your neck of the woods is also a huge problem as they’re trying to dominate the regions there.
They are another form of Fascism that must be dealt with and considering how belligerently I’ve heard the Chinese leadership talk about countries in that region, I wouldn’t be surprised if we find ourselves in a war with them in the coming years.
Frankly we’re probably due for WW3 with Islam and Communism being a growing threat. Still it’d be best if we get leaders in power who can best deal with these problems as they have state powers and resources.
With China/Russia, if war does occur I’m sure the US will be in the thick of it, but will have tons of support from western allies and perhaps nations like South Korea, Japan, Australia (I’d presume) and India.
A part of me wants this to happen because it’d be a great way to get rid of the deadwood but many innocents could suffer also…tough call.

Fitna, maybe, if many countries do stand very strongly against China, that bullying nation might back down. i doubt it though. I suspect that they will make a move on Taiwan in the not too distant future. Australia does so much trade with China and we make so much of our money from selling China coal and iron ore, etc, that China almost owns us economically. I heard an expert on foreign affairs, named Kieth Suter, say recently on a TV news program that China will probably never actually invade Australia because they own us. Out here, there is a lot of talk about how we need to break free of dependency on China and trade with other, more friendly countries, such as India, South Korea, etc. I think we still do plenty fo trade with japan as well. I do think that China has been waiting for a long time to throw its weight around and will bully all countries in this region.
