The Twitter feud between Trump and DeSantis supporters has heated up of late and has become extraordinarily bitter. Supporters of each one are at each other’s rhetorical throats, with angry accusations and overheated revelations that purportedly prove that one candidate or the other is sold out to the Deep State, and high emotions as old friendships and longtime associations are torn apart.

DeSantis is okay, but his weigh-in is premature. In 2028 he would be the man. Trump, on the other hand, is seen by DeSantis’ supporters as an unnecessary dead-weigh in the upcoming presidential election. The Deep State is frightened to death at the view of Trump back in the seat. With good reason and thereby thwart his chances.
The question is though if DeSantis is worth the effort; he might be the man who beats any Democrat candidate, but if he’s going to appease the same Deep State what is his candidature worth?

I agree w/ you: I don’t get why DeSantis thought that it’s a good idea to run against Trump. His age is on his side, and in 2028, he’ll still be young enough to serve 2 terms as POTUS. On top of that, he’d have completed 2 terms as governor, and will be able to spend 2 full years campaigning, just like Trump is, w/ no other distractions. Most of all, he won’t have any Trump loyalists opposing him, since he would not have rubbed Trump the wrong way
All that said, I am not too thrilled about Trump attacking him from the Left, on issues like Disney, Social Security, Abortion & so on. On Disney, DeSantis has done exactly the right thing by de-fanging Disney, and it’s asinine for Trump, Pence & Haley to ding him on that. Essentially, what DeSantis did was remove from Disney privileges that others in the same space, such as Universal and Sea World, did not have: the privilege of governing their own district. I saw Megyn Kelly assert that that was using government power to punish a corporation, but I agree w/ Dave Rubin that leveling the playing field is not doing that.
On Abortion, DeSantis has made 13 weeks the cut-off, which is what it is in most European countries, which the Left traditionally loved citing as their standard for things we should do. I’m not getting what the Trump criticism is: where does he want the cut-off? Actually, it’s irrelevant now in a presidential election, since the repeal of “Roe v Wade” has sent this issue back to the states, so that there can be states that allow abortion up to the 40th week, and there can be states that won’t allow one to touch a zygote
Also, Trump is way off when he calls DeSantis a protege of Paul Ryan: DeSantis was a member of the Freedom Caucus, which did not include Ryan or anyone in leadership, and was more aligned w/ Jordan & Meadows. Trump PACs are right now running ads accusing DeSantis of wanting to hike the Sales tax, but people can see his record in Florida. Also, the context in which DeSantis said that he wanted a Sales tax was when discussing various flat tax models, and getting rid of income and property taxes. It wouldn’t be that if the other tax categories remained.
I’m normally a Trump voter, and will vote for him when he gets the nomination. But as far as the primaries go, I don’t like the way Trump is focusing his attacks on DeSantis, and so I plan to vote for Vivek Ramaswamy. His is also an “America First” platform, and I agree w/ most of the things I’ve heard from him so far.
I’d like to know where Vivek stands on islamic supremacy & jihad (it would be fascinating since his family originally comes from Kerala, which is India’s remaining islam-Marxist state), since he has talked about being largely Libertarian. That’s a bad thing to be when it comes to both LGBTQIA+ and Jihad. So I’d like to know where he stands on islam, and if it’s unacceptable, I’ll probably move back to Trump for the Primaries, since no other candidate has impressed me, and I still think DeSantis ought to wait until 2028

The biggest and only issue that matters to me right now is Islam, as it is a global problem. What is happening today in Iran and Pakistan could one day come to bite us in the azz, while everyone bickers over petty politics.
Apart from Ted Cruz, I don’t really see any pol on the right take this problem seriously. My second choice would be Trump and ofc he has way more sway and popularity than any other candidate…so hopefully he wins this time and takes the honor of being Potus more soberly this time (but people don’t really change).
However he’ll still be better on this topic than anyone on the Left. We can’t afford another 4 years of the grifting, incompetent, traitorous Dem party.

I’m with you, Fitna, on the giant menace which Islam surely is to America and all the West, but there is another menace out there, in my opinion an even greater menace than Mo’s freedom-crushing creed, and that is the ultimate enemy within, i.e., modern liberalism or Leftism. Without the nonsense and iniquity of Leftism (and I distinguish it from old-fashion liberalism with which, being a conservative, I have some policy disagreements but not contempt), the West could far more easily handle what Islam intends for all humanity. But with Leftism, which ruins everything it deals with, even children, in combination with Islam’s nefarious designs, I don’t see how a free and powerful West can survive.

Right now a Trump/DeSantis ticket would hold well for the republicans control of the White House for the next three elections.
