China might find its path to global economic hegemony not quite as smooth as it expects. If they pull out of Pakistan because of this, it will become another illustration of one of the many, many reasons why Sharia leads to poverty.
“Pakistan: Chinese engineer arrested for ‘insulting Islam’ after he asked his Pakistani subordinates to work faster during Ramzan,” OpIndia, April 17, 2023:
On Sunday, April 16, Pakistan police arrested a Chinese engineer working at a hydropower project in Kohistan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the country on accusations of blasphemy. The Chinese national working in China Gezhouba Group Company was accused of ‘insulting’ Allah.
He had allegedly commented about the slow pace of work during the Islamic holy month of Ramzan during an argument with his Pakistani subordinates at his workplace.
The accused, identified in a formal complaint to the police by two Pakistani dumpster drivers as “Mr Tian, in charge of heavy machinery,” was detained by police late on Sunday from a residential camp for Chinese workers near Dasu, about 350 km north of Islamabad ‘to avert a serious situation.’
Dasu Dam is a hydroelectric gravity dam under construction in Kohistan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan. China’s Gezhouba Group Company Limited has undertaken main civil works.
According to South China Morning Post, Tian had allegedly commented about the slow pace of work during the Islamic holy month of Ramzan, which infuriated the Pakistani employees of the company. As the news of the argument and alleged blasphemy spread, a charged mob of several hundred people, chanting death threats against Tian, gathered outside the residential camp and began pelting it with stones.
Hundreds of people from nearby villages also gathered to block the Karakoram Highway connecting Pakistan to China to protest against the Chinese citizen.
The police intervened and fired aerial warning shots at the mob to prevent a riot. The mob kept creating a ruckus for almost four hours and only dispersed after the police assured that the Chinese engineer would face legal repercussions.
Meanwhile, after the aforementioned incident, the security of the Chinese nationals working on the World Bank-financed Dasu hydropower project has been tightened….

HE shouldn`t have made such a dam fuss. Praying to the non existent allah is a priority, even if you don`t have running water or flushing toilets. Good grief. What was he thinking of? Uyigars?

Wonder if China will invade Pakistan? Muslims getting a little back on China for their treatment of the Uyghars Who would want to deal with a bunch of perverted, degenerate who want to live a 7th Century Bandit Culture, anyways?
stephen says
That isn`t the problem. The problem is that they want everybody else to live there too, as their slaves.

You put your finger on something. In Pakistan, it has been well covered in their islamic media how Uyghurs are treated, and despite the best attempts of Imran Khan and other Paki leaders to treat Beijing w/ kid gloves, a huge segment of Pakis just hate the Chicoms for that. So in Pakistan, you have 2 groups of people who hate the Chicoms, for different reasons:
‣ Natives of the provinces where CPEC – the China-Pakistan project – is active. While those areas are mined for their resources, the way Chicom projects work is that they typically send PLA technicians there to work on those projects, instead of hiring locals. (This is true about all belt/road projects, which is why a lot of countries have wised up and either renegotiated or terminated those deals.) As a result, there is a huge amount of resentment at the Chicoms, which has increased the risk that they have to live by
‣ Ummah lovers who are horrified at any suffering by foreign muslims at the hands of infidels. They haven’t gotten the memo from just about every muslim government there is in the world that Beijing is an ally and that the Uyghurs are expendable: they are ready to sacrifice any economic gains to themselves in support of the Uyghurs. It would have been admirable had they not had such a shabby record of treating their own minorities badly: Uyghurs don’t have to fear their underaged daughters being raped, converted or married the way Paki Christians, Hindus and Sikhs do
As for your question, looks like the Chicoms are happy to deal w/ anybody, no matter how savage, in order to get what they want

I think the native Africans in African countries aren’t too keen on the Chinese for the way they are acting in their countries either.

Biting the hand that feeds. Pakis and Mozzies are classic example. Let’s wait for China’s reaction. They won’t be pleased is an understatement, I won’t be wrong in assuming that the way Pakistan is going, day we hear about Chinese boots on the ground in Pakistan, is not far away.

Actually, as I mentioned above, there are faults on both sides. But I just love the idea of China having to send troops into Pakistan, if that’s what they decide. At least it forces Beijing to divert attention away from Taiwan, India, Japan, Mongolia and anywhere else and focus on this one. If you look at it from India’s POV, nothing greater than 2 of their enemies at each other’s throats, if it comes to that

I think China is sitting quietly in the sidelines with wanton eyes and grumbling tummy just waiting for Putin’s Russian Federation to collapse to what it was in the 9th century. Much will be up for grabs for China and Taiwan will look like a crumb compared to that. Let’s hope of course that those huge Nation States breaking away from the Russian Federation and claiming independence stay independent. They do have their own ethnicity, language and culture.

Siberia is pretty empty, which is how historically, first the Mongols and then the Russians had no issues overrunning it. I do hope that China doesn’t get hold of Siberia, b’cos it’ll give their people all the resources they need to expand. Imagine if Russia had 1.5 billion people instead of its 100 million: that’s what China would be if it gained control of Siberia. I don’t see how Russia defends against that, given what they’ve shown in Ukraine

One of my favorite ‘Alien vs Predator’ stories. I really hope that Pakistan and China experience a complete blowout! It will do wonders if Beijing is forced to send PLA regiments into Pakistan: at least it will divert attention from Taiwan. And in case it does, I do hope that the US doesn’t rally to Pakistan’s aid, mistaking them, as always, as an ally

Few peoples are as insensitive to foreign cultures–or those of their own minorities–as the Han Chinese (and such adjacent groups as Manzhou).
This kerfuffle couldn’t happen to a nicer pair of diplomatic allies.

Any non muslim bossing muslims is insulting Islam, because muslims is the best people of Allah and should be the khalifah on earth.
I just wonder, how come in many cases, muslims are inferior to non muslims and muslims also the most people who do crime relatively in percentage. Allah must have screwed up. LOL
stephen says
Allah cannot screw up for one simple reason; he does n`t exist outside of the imagination of his deluded followers.
