When Pope Benedict XVI died on December 31 at the age of 95, it turns out that he had a completed book ready for publication upon his death. Written in Italian, that book, Che cos’è il Cristianesimo: Quasi un testamento spirituale (What Is Christianity: Almost a Spiritual Testament), is full of explosive revelations and trenchant criticism of his woke successor, Pope Francis. Could Pope Benedict begin a counter-revolution within the Roman Catholic Church from the grave? Stranger things have happened, although it would take any one of us a good while to think of one.
Pope Benedict explains that he did not want the book published while he was still living because of the furious reaction his writings inspired: “For my part, in life, I no longer want to publish anything. The fury of the circles against me in Germany is so strong that the appearance of my every word immediately causes a murderous shouting from them. I want to spare myself and Christendom this.”
It’s easy to see why this book would inspire “murderous shouting” from some corners of the Roman Catholic Church. Benedict writes that the Church is close to “collapse” and paints a picture of seminaries in the United States as centers of promiscuous homosexuality and perversion. “In various seminaries,” the pope explained, “homosexual ‘clubs’ were formed which acted more or less openly and which clearly transformed the atmosphere in the seminaries. In a seminary in southern Germany, candidates for the priesthood and candidates for the lay office of pastoral referent lived together.”
The corruption was more or less out in the open. “During common meals,” Benedict noted, “the seminarians were together with married pastoral representatives, partly accompanied by their wives and children and in some cases by their girlfriends. The climate in the seminary could not help priestly formation.” He said that a “bishop who had previously been rector had allowed seminarians to be shown pornographic films, presumably with the intention of thereby enabling them to resist against behavior contrary to the faith.”
These allegations are all too plausible. On Sunday, the Times of London reported that “the Roman Catholic church is investigating allegations of a lockdown ‘sex party’ at a cathedral as part of an inquiry into a former bishop’s tenure. In a highly unusual move, the Vatican has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Robert Byrne’s resignation as the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle in December.” It appears that “a number of complaints were made by individuals within the diocese after information came to light about a sex party taking place in the priests’ living quarters attached to Newcastle cathedral.” As a result of all this, “the cathedral had become a laughing stock.”

Not much of a surprise with this Marxist Pope. Of course, the legacy media which hates Chrisianity, will be happy with Benedict’s revelation for two reasons: to support the gay agenda and to further the “collapse” of the Church.

Christianity is collapsing in most of the educated world, hopefully the same will happen to Islam but will take far longer because Muslims are woefully ignorant and powerfully indoctrinated.
Having never heard a convincing argument for the God hypothesis, my belief is the end of religion is a possibility & I hope it eventuates.

So what would be your scenario in which an atheistic society also embraces personal liberty, free market capitalism, the nation state (as opposed to globalism) and traditional family values (no LGBTQIA+ grooming of kids or even adults)?

Strongly seconded. As Dennis Prager, himself an Orthodox Jew, has said, the death of Christianity in America will mean the death of America. Ditto for all the West. Many simply don’t get this—and yet others who want the death of America and the West very much get this. Whichever, both groups are immensely ignorant though in different ways.

The fact that islam isn’t collapsing in most of the uneducated world tells us what that’s about. The collapse of Christianity is merely a belief (your word) among those who put their faith in that chosen belief. As for myself, I’ve known many a cruel atheist (who sees faith as a mere argument that he or she can shout down) and will take my chances with Christians. There’s still time for humanity to rise above arguments.

He was right, and he would have been “murderously attacked” if it had been published before. The current ‘pope’ would have been at the forefront of the persecution for the Truth coming out.
Atheists want a world without a Supreme Being, and over the years, their comrades have managed to kill millions in furtherance of their atheistic religion. Many feel if they can kill Christianity, they will have successfully killed God.
Recently, I listened to a man by the name of Stephen C Meyer discussing his book, “Return of The God Hypothesis.” It was an excellent interview and explained so much about why atheists and others want to destroy Christianity.
They will never succeed. The Catholic Church may go down, but Christianity will never no matter how hard the devil and his minions work to make it happen

Yes, it rather is a singular fact, that it is delusion due to the evidence satan was lying to her.
satan told her that she **would not die.** Outright lie and it’s been proven over and over by the deaths of millions. Therefore, it is delusional for anyone to believe the second part of his words to her would be true….that she could be successful at making her own decisions about right and wrong, good and evil as if she had equality with her Creator.

Since its inception, Christianity has suffered persecution in all its forms and is still being persecuted in various parts of the world. Here we are, 2000 years later and the church, that is, true Bible believing Christians are still here and standing strong in the faith. As Alexander the Great once said:
“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.”
Those who are true Bible believing Christians are the sheep being led by a lion, the “Lion of Judah,” Yeshua Ha’Mashiach. We read in the Book of Joshua, 1:9 (ESV)

The mere thought of the Roman Catholic Church collapsing brings a warm fuzzy glow to my old heart.
If I had a dollar for every atrocity carried out by this evil institution I’d have more money than Bill Gates.
They are not a religious order, they are simply an extension of the old Roman empire with all of the corruption and evil that comes with it.
This may be the singular decent thing that Joseph Ratzinger did and It’s odd that he couldn’t do it when alive.

Keith O, and with respect, and I write this as the agnostic that I am, the Roman Catholic Church has often been in the forefront of preserving Western Civilization.
Pope Leo I (440-461 AD) is an early example here as the Western Roman Empire collapsed and the Catholic Church did so much to fill this void as historians aplenty (even the cynical Gibbon) have acknowledged. What of Pope Gregory the Great (590-604) and all that he did? And too in this regard is Pope Leo III (795-816) who helped to restore the Roman Empire in the West by crowning Charlemagne on Christmas Day of the year 800 Holy Roman Emperor. What of Urban II calling for the First Crusade to liberate the Christian Holy Land of so many Muslim transgressions?
And what about how Irish and Anglo-Saxon monks (e.g., the Venerable Bede) preserved so much of what the ancient world produced? Then there are all the great Catholic Christian thinkers like Erigena, Anselm, Aquinas, Duns Scotus and William of Ockham. What of the enormous artistic contributions of the Catholic Church—like Romanesque, Gothic, Italian Renaissance and Baroque art? Can you imagine someone like Michelangelo minus the Catholic Church? As has often been noted, with the exception of Rembrandt every great religious painter in the West has been a Roman Catholic.
More recently, it was Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903) who led the way for the first Christian sect to not refute the evolutionary teachings of Charles Darwin. And what of Pope Pius XII’s saving more Jews (about 800,000) than any other person in history?
All in all, the Catholic Church at its best has been instrumental in preserving Western Civilization, the greatest civilization of all time. Indeed, to divorce the role of the Catholic Church in the magnificent history of Western Civilization is not indicative of a pursuit of the truth but rather pursuit of an agenda.
Yes, at its worst, said Church has often times been awful, never more so than now under the Marxist Argentinian Pope who is Francis. And, of course, Vatican II (1962-1965) did begin the destruction of old Catholicism, which is never coming back, and what a damn shame that this is the case.
But anyway, please reconsider. The Catholic Church, like life in general, has a mixed record. A subtle, accurate and informed appraisal of the Roman Catholic Church can neither lead to a total invective against it nor to a complete approbation of it. This is where I stand on this matter.

True Wellington, there have been some remarkable free thinkers within the Catholic system, there have also been some absolute barbarians.
The ones that come to mind are Saint Patrick who took an army to Ireland and committed genocide by “driving the snakes out”, IE he killed all the druids, those who held the old knowledge.
Then we have that wonderful phase of enlightenment called the inquisition, where countless free thinkers were murdered as a means of silencing any opposition.
Or maybe the Spanish invasion and conquest of the new world. How many atrocities were committed there in the name of Jesus by the gentle caring priests?
How about the generations of child abuse carried out by various priests, bishops, cardinals and other clergy that the “holy sea” made go away because it was bad press?
Then of course in more recent times we have the “rat lines” set up under the direction of pope Pious the 12th that was used to smuggle nazis out of Europe at the end of the war.
Yeah, whilst I can’t quote chapter and verse of a who’s who within the history of the church, I’m more than aware of a few of the more unsavoury aspects of this cult and will not shed any tears when the whole lot collapses.
If given a choice between Islam or Christianity, I’d be asking for a third option. Which is why I’m a Pagan.

Here is a distinction I always maintain between Christianity and Islam, to wit, when Christians acted badly in the name of their faith they were fulfilling no tenet of their faith, but when Muslims have acted badly in the name of their faith they are so very often fulfilling one or more major tenets of their creed.
What people do is important but what an ideology avers is even more important. After all, you could have found some nice Communists during the Cold War but this never made Communism OK. Conversely, some who participate in the democratic process abuse it one way or another but this doesn’t add up to democracy being wrong.
