“Author Salman Rushdie ‘stabbed in neck’ on lecture stage in New York,” ITV, August 12, 2022:
Indian-British author Sir Salman Rushdie has suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck and been airlifted to hospital after he was attacked on stage in New York.
Sir Salman, whose writing led to death threats from Iran in the 1980s, was attacked at the Chautauqua Institution on Friday at 11am local time.
A man stormed the stage and began punching or stabbing him 10 to 15 times as he was being introduced, according to an Associated Press reporter.
The writer’s condition was not immediately known, but his agent, Andrew Wylie, said he undergoing surgery. He said he had no other details.
New York Police said: “State police are investigating an attack on author Salman Rushdie prior to a speaking event at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
“On August 12, 2022, at about 11am, a male suspect ran up onto the stage and attacked Rushdie and an interviewer.
“Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck, and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital. “…

A couple of decades ago Iran distanced itself from this Fatwa, but it was never formally revoked. And In 2012, a semiofficial Iranian religious foundation raised the bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to $3.3 million.

Raja, Salman Rushdie did not convert to Islam. He was born into a Muslim family, but it has never been clear how devout he has ever been, or if he is a practicing Muslim at this point or not.
He went into hiding and had heavy security right after the Fatwa was issued. Over time he has gotten tired of the heavy security and considered the Fatwa less of a threat. I don’t know if he still has a bodyguard–but certainly he no longer has the large security detail he once did.

Even now islam is projected as religion of peace after hundreds of attacks. That title should have been to hinduism/buddhism/jainism or even the Bahai faith because these religions have non-violence as a core tenet and the non-violence concept originated from Hindus. Yet violent barbaric Islam which cant even tolerate reading the verses from its own holy book is treated as religion of peace.

Security at Rushdie’s Chautauqua lecture was obviously inadequate, especially considering the threats against his life all these years. Where was thwcNY State trooper stationed in the lecture hall?Iranian assassins are roaming our streets. They’ve threatened John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, Masih Alinejad, and others. Yet, the Obama-Biden Administration is still desperately appeasing Iran. Something’s wrong here.

Good point. Rushdie was STABBED. And not with some little pocket-knife/ pen-knife. Security – screening of persons obtaining tickets, and above all, security AT THE ENTRY POINTS – somehow allowed this mohammedan assassin to get inside WHILE CARRYING A SERIOUS WEAPON, or object that could be used as a weapon.
Given that the speaker was SALMAN RUSHDIE everybody who entered that venue – for whatever reason – should have had to go through airport-level security screening. Turn out your pockets, ladies and gentlemen. Take off your shoes. Hand over your pens, etc (anything capable of being used as concealment for a knife/ stiletto). And no *innocent* person would grudge having to do that, for a millisecond.
Every person employed to handle ‘security’ at that venue – either on that day, or previous days – needs to be cross-examined.
the other possibility is this. The mohammedan would-be assassin (failed assassin! yep, it looks like Rushdie will survive) was not carrying a weapon when he entered the venue. He – or some other person or persons acting in collusion – had pre-stashed it, say, in the loos, or in some other location, ready for him to pick up on the day, AFTER he had got in through whatever security screen existed at the entrance.
Every person who works in that venue – say, the cleaners, who would have opportunity to leave a weapon in a pre-arranged hiding place – needs to be *thoroughly* investigated. Are there any identifiable mohammedans amongst those who work as cleaners?
This is a major, major reminder to people, – take note, any venue hosting the likes of Robert Spencer, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, etc – to be very, very vigilant about security. We cannot drop our guard.

Islam is a very strange religion insofar as mortals must take “revenge” when their god is insulted.
Let me explain.
If someone insults my God or religion, I believe the Almighty will be the judge and He will decide what should be done.
So by definition Islam’s god is weak, feeble and powerless.
