“Taliban leader calls for «full» implementation of ‘sharia’ in Afghanistan,” News 360, July 29, 2022:
Taliban leader Mullah Hebatullah Ajundzada has defended the need to “fully” implement Sharia law in the country and has defended that “all responsible persons must be equal” under Islamic law, during a meeting with provincial governors in Kandahar (south).
Ajundzada stressed during the meeting “the importance of the Islamic system and its protection”, while stating that “the Islamic system (in Afghanistan) was born with the blessing of many sacrifices, exhaustion and martyrdom of the people”. “We protected the struggle of jihad against dozens of occupying countries,” he stressed.
Thus, he indicated that “if (the occupation) had continued for 40 years, the struggle would have continued until all the invaders had been defeated and left the country crestfallen”. Ajunzada also criticized that “during the last 20 years there has been a lot of propaganda against the Islamic system and the ‘sharia'”, in reference to the period between the expulsion of the Taliban from power in 2001 and their return to Kabul in August 2021.
“Laws made by individuals are not applicable. In the Islamic Emirate, the mandate belongs to God alone and the solution to all problems is in the ‘sharia’. Let us take all decisions from the ‘sharia’. The sovereignty of the Islamic Emirate is under the orders of God and is not decided by people’s requests according to their mood nor is it a republic,” he said.
Ajunzada also demanded that “all rights be given to women” within the framework of the ‘sharia’ and asked that “leaders should not be insulted, because he who insults the ‘sharia’ will be insulted by God”. The Taliban leader also asked the provincial governors to “coordinate well with the courts, meet their needs and cooperate fully with them in implementing decisions”.
Finally, he called for “eliminating nationalism and racism” and stressed that “scholars and imams in mosques should make people aware of the virtues of the Islamic system and attract them to it to keep people away from regionalism and nihilism”.
Ajundzada himself issued a decree last week to ban “baseless” criticism against the authorities in Afghanistan arguing that numerous Islamic ‘hadiths’ stress that such actions deserve punishment. “According to Islamic rules, it is not permissible to make false accusations against the authorities or criticize them on baseless grounds,” he said….

Reminds me, James, of what Steve Jobs opined, to wit, the Japanese (and read all Asian mentalities here) are not great at inventing things but they are superb at reinventing things.
For me, this is still dispositive of the unique greatness of Western Civilization and how (and I’m going to be harsh here) all other civilizations are nothing more than interesting parasites “feeding off” of Western Civilization, sometimes quite well but still parasites nonetheless.
Put another way, Western Civilization, for a myriad of reasons, many of which I have enumerated before here at JW, is EASILY greater than all other civilizations combined and which is why it is hated so much, pure jealousy and ignorance serving as the two chief reasons.
Hey, imagine if the world had to depend upon the American Indian world, the Islamic world, the Asian world, the sub-Saharan African world, et al. on developing—ON THEIR OWN—what the Western world did, including the invention of philosophy, democracy, the scientific method and the greatest technological achievements by far compared to ALL OTHERS.

As Indians invented up to calculus which was later stolen by colonial invaders, Muslims pasted their label on it. It took 500yrs for the Europeans to understand that knowledge. Devasur: I didn’t say Asians and other non-Westerners couldn’t invent anything. You set up a straw dog and then knocked it down. What I did say is that Western Civilization is the most productive and inventive of all civilizations. Look at just some of the inventions I mentioned in my 3:35 P.M. post above. All of them were invented by the West and many more.
As for calculus being invented in the subcontinent, no it was not. Leibniz and Newton did not steal calculus from India. Take a look:

Devasur, this is *not* what Wellington and James Lincoln said at all. Of course there have been Asian inventions; including such extremely significant ones as the zero, paper, and gun powder. But there has been nothing so inventive as the West–noting that is not a put down of anyone else, nor is it somehow “colonial”.
As for yoga, you are referring to Bikram Choudhary–who is Indian, *not* American–he just teaches in the US. And he was not trying to patent yoga in general–just yoga done in steam rooms–Bikram Yoga–which I believe he did indeed develop. Then, his application for a patent was turned down in any case. So characterizing this as Westerners stealing yoga makes little sense.
The idea that the world would have developed faster if the free West had never existed is not borne out–there is no indication that the East was developing accurate clocks, the steam engine, the telegraph, lithography, photography, the typewriter, electricity, the telephone, the internal combustion engine, the phonograph, the radio, flight, the computer, and space flight. This is just off the top of my head; there are of course many more.
Part of this is the philosophy of the West, which emphasizes innovation and the individual.

Somehistory, the very inventive Benjamin Franklin invented bifocals. Reading glasses were invented earlier, but were also a Western invention. They were invented in Europe in the late Middle Ages. Italians and the Dutch made some of the most significant improvements, the latter especially in lenses.

So much of China’s current manufacturing strength is dependent on engineers from other countries. That and sidestepping laws that forbid as toxic the use of compounds that are freely used there. Add the landfills jammed with products that should still be in use but magically break at warranty’s end, so we don’t get a good deal even as consumers. And none of this production, to Wellington’s point, is due to innovation or invention there.

Yes, this is what Islam teaches. So long as an Islamic regime is fully Islamic, no one can be allowed to criticize *anything* else they may do, including robbing, raping, and murdering their own people. And it does not matter whether those accusations are factual or not.
The *only* case in which Muslims are supposed to be allowed to challenge a regime is if it is deemed not to be Islamic enough. We see this in many parts of the Muslim world.
