She considers this war her ‘jihad’, a term to denote a holy war or personal struggle in Islam.
“This war is my war, and I defend my jihad because I have nephews, I have a mother and I defend my home. I do not want my nephews to ever see what I, unfortunately, saw in this war” she said.
“Islam even helps me because in Islam, in prayer, you somehow distract yourself from the war because you read the prayer and you have a connection with the Almighty. For me, Islam is a force that supports me even in war.”…
Ismahilov said they would pray for victory and the liberation of the occupied territories.
“We pray that our Muslim compatriots will be safe, that our families will be reunited, that the slain Muslims will go to heaven, and that all the Muslim soldiers who are defending their country will be accepted as shahids (martyrs) by Allah.”

The Muslims certainly do seem to have plenty of success, mortimer, with this keeping the dozy old sleepwalkers asleep to what islam is all about. So many fools keep on saying that islam is basically peaceful. i suppose it is wishful thinking for many people. Life would be easier if islam was not a worry, so they keep telling themselves and the rest of us that islam is peaceful and nothing to worry about. On this ferocious type of prophet, Muhammad, I loathe any religion that has violence at its core. For allah to pick a creature such as Muhammad as his chosen one indicates what an evil version of god allah is. Such a violent religion as islam is blight on the human race.

Somewhat inappropriate? In any case, what would a ‘warrior’ be doing presenting himself as a representative of an Omnipotent Creator of the Universe who (presumably) would be concerned for the welfare of all His creation without discrimination or favour – assuming that this particular ‘Omnipotent Creator’ has a functioning moral compass? Or maybe both ‘Omnipotent Creator’ and ‘Prophet’ are bogus fabrications ( as suggested above) , in which case, what sort sort of twisted criminal mind(s) would make this sort of thing up?

Luckily, Islam makes up only a little over 1% of the population in Ukraine. Russia has about seven times this number by percentage–and much more when you take into account Chechnya and the “Stans, where Muslims often flood into Russia.

Greetings:
Read “The Gates of Europe: A History of Ukraine” by a Harvard Professor, Serhii Plokhy, this week. “Ukraine has not yet perished” as the author reminds us several times but one might also have gone with “The Doormat of Europe” as a title.
I found the reading a bit slow with people and places having at least two names, Urainian or Russian neither of which I found pronounceable. Also, perhaps being an historian, the author likes to refer to “centuries” as opposed to specific years which kind of stops me in my reading to do the math translations.
But the history was enlightening, in a pessimistic way. There are so many divisions there, religious (3), language (3+), and ethnic groups galore, that it’s difficult to figure out where it might all end.

I understand this post perfectly well. However, you might also note that after the Chechen war, numbers of Chechens fled to Ukraine; while numbers of Crimean Tatars also left for the Ukrainian mainland after 2014. These people, like fellow Ukrainian minority-member Zelensky, are fighting for Ukraine and against Russia. In this war, Orthodox Christians are fighting Orthodox Christians, Muslims are fighting Muslims, Jews are fighting Jews, Protestants are fighting Protestants.
While I recognize that it is sometimes necessary due to the state’s responsibilities to the people, I hate war. When Uncle Kepha once crossed paths with a bunch of Bundeswehr in a Sicilian airport (NATO business?), he felt very sobered to consider that not too long before, his own uncles and their grandfathers had been busy trying to kill each other over the same spot of territory. I’ve dealt with its aftermath at a safe distance, and known veterans and refugees. I’d like to believe that everyone can negotiate and get along, but recognize that given what people are, this is not always possible.
