New in PJ Media:
Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator of the Team Formerly Known As Redskins, the Washington Commanders, is $100,000 poorer today, and he is lucky that he still has a job at all, for he has offended the gods of wokeness, and the gods of wokeness are angry and unforgiving gods.
Del Rio had the red, white, and blue temerity to downplay the seismic, world historical, cosmic, intergalactic significance of Jan. 6 and to wonder why the George Floyd riots didn’t get the same lavish attention that is being paid to the alleged “insurrection.” Now, this kind of impudent questioning of woke orthodoxy cannot stand, and Del Rio was not only fined but also forced to acknowledge and abjure his heresy. He did so, however, in a manner that may spell more trouble for him in the future.
On Wednesday, Del Rio aroused the ire of all those who think correct thoughts when he tweeted: “Would love to understand ‘the whole story’ about why the summer of riots, looting, burning and the destruction of personal property is never discussed but this is??? #CommonSense.” Del Rio said: “Let’s have a discussion. Why are we not looking into those things — if we’re going to talk about it — why are we not looking into those things? I can look at images on the TV, people’s livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down, no problem. And then we have a dust-up at the Capitol, nothing burned down, and we’re going to make that a major deal.”
A “dustup”! Even “invasion” is not a strong enough word! Why, the earth was cleft asunder and the very heavens were shaken, and the pillars of what the Left calls “our democracy,” that is, their hegemony, tottered and would have fallen altogether had not those stalwart patriots, whose names will be sung by lovers of “democracy” throughout the ages, been there to hold them up. Pelosi! Schumer! Nadler! The heart swells, the soul is stirred, a tear comes to the eye at the names of these selfless heroes, who stood in the breach against the insurrectionist tanks and missiles — unless, of course, you’re a black-hearted, er, evil-hearted bigot on the level of Jack Del Rio, in which case you actually think that riots in which 25 people were killed and which caused $2 billion in damage are worse than events in which a handful of people were killed and minimal damage was done.
The reason why the establishment considers Jan. 6 to be so much more serious than the George Floyd riots is, of course, not because a guy in Viking horns with no weapons and no plan and no leader was going to overthrow the government, but because to pretend that the Capitol incident was an “insurrection” serves the Left’s agenda of stigmatizing and demonizing their legitimate political opposition.
There is more. Read the rest here.

There was no insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. You have to be a complete idiot to think what happened that day was an insurrection. If, as is so often claimed, there are more guns than people in the U.S. why on Earth would these “insurrectionists” have forgotten to bring their guns with them to the “insurrection?” Not one person arrested was carrying a firearm. The people who died that day were all killed due to the actions of law enforcement officers. No one has been charged with the crime of “insurrection.” Calling the protests on Jan. 6 an “insurrection” is what I would call “The Big Lie.”

Cogito.
Sorry to have to tell ya but, there are far more “complete idiots” in America than we’d like to believe.
Otherwise, this wouldn’t have EVEN QUALIFIED as a “dustup.”
Oh and most of the dumbocrats would have either been out of power, or up on charges.

What constitutes insurrection? Is it defined in the federal code? Someone told me it has never been defined by law, though it’s mentioned in the 14th Amendment. I’ve been wondering if it’s like pornography: you know it when you see it.
I heard two broadcasters refer to the team as the Redskins. Old habits die hard.

Pornography: you know it when you see it. Do You? If it is an oil painting from the 1600-1700 hundreds by a master it is considered a master peace.
Jan. 6, was not a insurrection or attempt to over throw our government. It was a demonstration aimed at what was and still is by many thought to be an illegal election result.
The handling of which by our now Democratic administration is worthy of insurrection.

Not being a football fan, I’m wondering what rules were violated by Del Rio with this tweet. I’ve seen managers and players fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, excessive force or fighting, as per their collective bargaining contract with the owners. But what NFL rules allow a man’s freedom of speech to be abrogated? I found nothing offensive in the tweet, so what did he do (rhetorically) to cause harm to the Washington Football Team or to the NFL?

He engaged in “wrongthink” showing that he holds beliefs and opinions that contradict the tenets of the dominant ideology of the culture in which he lives and works. His punishment is likely to be banishment and ostracism from his culture and removal from his job. It really has nothing to do with football.

Just a couple of years ago, I was a sports fan. Now I’m not, and ugly stupidity like this is exactly why.

As a long time fan from boyhood (back in the Mesozoic Era) of American football, which is my single favorite sport bar none (and I do appreciate that many non-Americans are perplexed by this uniquely American sport)—even more than track and field and basketball which I also esteem—I am sadly, but totally, done with the NFL.
What has happened to the NFL is demonstrative of a much larger phenomenon, and that is that the Left ruins, utterly ruins, everything it touches, including sports, the Constitution, the law, education, marriage, common sense, the American flag, defense, the Judeo-Christian tradition, bathrooms, gender, pronouns, et al. Yes, the list is endless. Indeed, I challenge anyone to name for me a SINGLE thing the Left has promoted which has made us a better, a more ethical and saner society.

The thought police at the Ministry of Disinformation just added another notch to their belt. Who pockets the $100,000? The victims of the riots? LOL. Positively Orwellian!
