Actions have consequences. Stupid actions have stupid consequences. And pro-crime policies always work.
Police defunding was billed as making Seattle safer because no longer would mean cops shoot drug dealers for no reason except that they were shooting at them.
The Seattle City Council’s headlong dash to defund police is irresponsible, destabilizing — and ongoing. A Sept. 13 council vote to further chisel away at the police budget perpetuates a malignant trend that is making Seattle a more dangerous place to live and work.
A year after council budget-cutting and tinkering with department structure led to Chief Carmen Best’s departure, almost 300 officers and detectives have followed her out the door. Seven of the council’s nine members pledged in July 2020 to take away at least half the department’s funding and reimagine public safety around fewer police interventions.
That was last year. How are things now?
Rather than police, Solidarity Budget advocates are calling on councilmembers to invest in programs and services aimed at improving equity by building stronger communities. Defunding SPD, speakers said, is part of the coalition’s broader push to prioritize the environment, housing, education, transportation, childcare and nutrition, Indigenous sovereignty, and criminal justice reform.
Rape victims assaulted by the growing number of unimprisoned criminals roaming the streets thanks to criminal justice reform.. are out of luck.
Seattle police’s sexual assault and child abuse unit staff has been so depleted that it stopped assigning to detectives this year new cases with adult victims, according to an internal memo sent to interim police Chief Adrian Diaz in April.
The unit’s sergeant put her staffing crisis in stark terms.
“The community expects our agency to respond to reports of sexual violence,” Sgt. Pamela St. John wrote, “and at current staffing levels that objective is unattainable.”
In the memo, St. John went on to say that she was not “able to assign adult sexual assault cases” that came into her unit. Cases involving children and adult cases that had a suspect in custody — a fraction of adult sexual assaults reported to police — were being prioritized. The unit just had too few detectives.
Increasingly, victims of sexual assault who report their cases to Seattle police aren’t hearing anything back, said Mary Ellen Stone, CEO of the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center.
On Tuesday, a man reported to police that he had been raped at knifepoint.
His report was added to the list of stalled cases.
Police defunding. This is what it looks like in real life.

I heard about this last night. All women and families with little girls, should try to leave the state asap. They are not safe. Try to choose someplace not yet overrun with mozlums and their habitual raping of infidel ladies and little girls. No sense in going from the frying pan into the fire.
and they want to take away the guns…a report says that the group buying the most weapons for self-defense right now: Black women.

This year so far, 1.6% of cases investigated by the sexual assault and child abuse unit have resulted in an arrest, down from 14% in 2019.
………….
Of course, even 14% is pathetic–but *1.6%*? Good grief.
And this is the number re cases investigated–and SPD has openly said it is not even investigating new cases.
According to FBI statistics from 2017, clearance of rape cases was about 35%.

Most of this drop is due to “Defund the Police” and its repercussions.

forgot to mention daniel!!! the more you defund the police and the worse the police get payed, funds start emerging from criminal gangs, who just like in poor countries, enjoy impunity and protection from the police and a far greater range of operation…. again, corruption, exists in countries where the police get payed well also, but poorer police are more likiely to be corrupt and bribed….
somehistory says
the first “police” in this country, much like the Shire-reeve who worked for the large land owners in England, could be paid to be one-sided in their arrests and charging.
the rich had police to go after those who robbed, cheated, etc. and the poor had no one to protect their rights, until the city of Boston made up its own pd and the poor got some relief. NYC and chicago followed.
Now, it’s gonna’ be like you proposed…the rich will have protection and the poor will be at the mercy…and there will be none of that…of the criminals.

And many honest police are going to give up and move to places where they get better pay, more support, and more respect.
James Lincoln says
Absolutely true, gravenimage.
The only ones likely to stay are those who are very close to vesting their retirement pensions.
gravenimage says
Sadly true, James–there will be those nearing retirement, those who just don’t care and/or are of borderline competence, and just a handful of increasingly frustrated and overworked officers really committed to policing there. Many of them will be worn down increasingly over time if nothing changes.
And how many good potential recruits are even going to consider Seattle and places like it in future? Fewer and fewer. They’ll either apply elsewhere or else consider careers in other fields. Seattle will get fewer applicants, and the mean quality will keep going down.
Seattle is a beautiful city–but this is sadly an entirely self-inflicted wound.
James Lincoln says
I agree, gravenimage.
And thank you for your reply.

Thanks, James.

It’s not just stupid and irrational to attempt to defund the police force it goes even further into the hideous realm of complete evil and total madness.
The reasons that this is so is because if the police of defunded the number of rapes would quickly rise to a drastic heinous level. Likewise, many of those vile raping villains would even then murder to girl o women after he raped her. Even the number of kidnapping rape torture and murder of the victims would raise .
For human nature is evil and only naive who haven’t much life experience would think that “people are basically good.”
If all that hideous wickedness isn’t awful enough , if the police would be defunded there would also be an horrendous increase in home and business break ins thefts , and eneb torture and murder of the people in those places.
If the police would be defunded those would in riots, arsons more sexual assaults and outright rages and murders.
Some of those criminal affronts would be committed by criminal gangs of vicious street hooligans,as those of the band of thus who are known as MS -13.
Other massive city riots along with arson and looting would be done by violent vicious and murderous Marxist criminal hooligans who are members of domestic terrorist organizations as Antifa and BLM which attempt to falsely masquerade as “civil rights” groups.
So very disingenuous and blatantly dishonest of those Antifa and BLM lying leaders to fake being “civil rights” activists .
Nevertheless the main point is if police are ever defunded there will be a hideous and heinous drastic rise in chaos and mayhem that would be evil and overwhelming.

A few years ago Oakland police announced they were going to stop investigating burglaries, and would not even take reports in person–not even at police stations–but only on-line. Anyone without computer access was out of luck even to this limited extent.
One guess on how burglaries and other robberies have skyrocketed here.
Walter Sieruk says
Those absurd senseless ungodly leftists are ,no doubt ‘ too ignorant to know it but when they try to defund the police and actually defund andare striving against the ordinances of God.
For as the Bible informs its reader “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities . For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves ” Romans 13:1,2. [N.K.J.V.]
Furthermore in that same chapter of Romans verse 3-7 it elaborates criminals, be they rapist or other kind of evil doers should fear the police but and good decent peaceful law abiding citizens have no reason to fear them.

Seattle Police So Defunded They Can’t Even Investigate New Rape Cases
…………
Just horrifying–but hardly a surprise. Really, what else could have happened?
And it is not just that rape cases won’t get solved and rapists won’t be arrested–this will also embolden would-be rapists who may have refrained from rape out of fear of arrest and prosecution.
Oakland, California where I live certainly has its problems, but luckily both the mayor and chief of police quietly rejected “Defund the Police” here.
Walter Sieruk says
All criminals are greatly in favor of having the police defunded.

Too true, Walter.
