Mohammed al-Halabi denied any wrongdoing. If he is indeed guilty (and he was convicted), he likely thinks of Hamas’ work as an extension of his charitable work, both forms of struggle (jihad) for Allah.
“Israel convicts former World Vision Gaza chief of aiding Hamas,” AFP, June 15, 2022:
Beersheba (Israel) (AFP) – An Israeli court on Wednesday found the former Gaza head of a major US-based NGO guilty of embezzling millions of dollars to Islamist group Hamas, six years after his arrest.
Israel had accused Palestinian Mohammed al-Halabi, who headed Gaza operations for World Vision, of siphoning-off millions of dollars to Hamas, which rules the Palestinian enclave.
He was arrested in June 2016 and indicted in August that year.
Both Halabi and the charity have staunchly denied any irregularities.
But the Israeli court in Beersheba on Wednesday convicted Halabi of belonging to a terrorist group, Hamas, and of financing terrorist activities, of having “transmitted information to the enemy” as well as the possession of a weapon, according to a summary of the ruling viewed by AFP.
“The charges against the accused point to extensive financial support and information sharing with Hamas,” it said….

Why does a Christian charity hire any non-Christian as its head?
somehistory says
Really good question. My answer: the org isn’t really Christian. and since they have said nothing “irregular” happened, this makes me even more sure that they are “Christian” about as much as satan the devil or one of his best pupils, the fake ‘prophet’ of the subjugation cult.
True Christians do not “mix with those who sit at the table of demons.”

Somehistory, World Vision is indeed a legitimate charity:
This charity’s score is 91.86, earning it a 4-Star rating. Donors can “Give with Confidence” to this charity.
https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/951922279#:~:text=Exceptional,with%20Confidence%22%20to%20this%20charity.
And they are definitely Christian:
World Vision is an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.

So how did this happen? As I note elsewhere on this thread, I’m sure Christians at this charity in Gaza were pressured–probably violently–to appoint Mohammed al-Halabi head of the local charity.
Perhaps they also gave Israel the head’s up about his skimming charity money. Just glad he was convicted–many in Gaza are beyond Israel’s reach.
somehistory says
In your opinion, what they put as their *mission statement* is true, but I don’t happen to accept it, based on this hiring of a mozlum and then saying nothing happened that shouldn’t have.
Sounds like, if what you claim is the *reason* for this, and I’m guessing you are guessing, it would show “fear of man” and according to the Bible, that “lays a trap.”
“By their fruits, you will recognize them,” Jesus Christ. “Don’t be afraid of the things you are about to suffer, ”
so, we disagree.

Do NOT depend on charity navigator!!!!!! WHY??????????????
Because they rate THE CLINTON FOUNDATION 3 out of 4 stars!!!
Need I say more?

It’s true, Somehistory, that Christians always have the grim option of dying.
The Christian population in Gaza has lost two thirds of its surviving numbers in *just the last decade*. Some have been able to flee, but not all. Forced marriage, forced conversion, and outright murder by Muslims is grimly common there.

There are many others.
This is, in fact, one of the largest Christian charities in the world.
gravenimage says
Infidel, Gaza is over 99% Muslim. I imagine this charity had a lot of pressure to appoint a Muslim head.
The Christians may have thought that he would otherwise act in good faith, or else may just have thought that this was the only way for any charity money *at all* to get through.
Infidel says
Don’t operate in Gaza then, if you’re a Christian organization and the challenge is to operate in an area that is intolerant of Christians. The idea that Christian charity organizations have to be everywhere is down & out asinine
somehistory says
Jesus, the Head of the Christian Congregation, said, “When they persecute you in one city, flee to the next.”, That means Christians couldn’t be everywhere. At least, not permanently.
Infidel says
I agree. Operate in countries where it is legal. There are enough countries in the world in Latin America and Africa where Christian charity groups could do a lot of good to believing and even nominal Christians, rather than go into countries where it is illegal, and then try and convert non-Christians. Leave the latter to non-Christian charity organizations, and let them sort out if and how to take care of their own
gravenimage says
I don’t think that World Vision was trying to convert Muslims. They probably would have faced violence if they had tried.
gregbeetham says
That’s obviously why they appointed a Muslim cockroach to be their chief organizer in Gaza, no danger of him being accused of promoting Christianity, so what’s the solution? I don’t think we should be meddling except to support persecuted Christians trapped in evil Muslim majority places.

This is FINANCIAL JIHAD … the jihad of money.
TAQIYYA is part of ALL jihad.
Mohammed said, ‘War is DECEIT’.
‘Allah is the BEST of DECEIVERS’ (khayr al-makereen). – Koran 3.54
gregbeetham says
It turns out that World Vision are naïve gullible idiots, they just trusted an obvious cockroach to handle hundreds of millions of donation dollars with almost zero oversight. When will out stupid governments learn to not hand over money to any Muslim ever, for any reason?
gravenimage says
I doubt they were naïve, Greg. Christians in Gaza are under constant threat of violence.
mortimer says
Islam turns everyone into a liar. The Christians may have been victims of extortion or they willingly cooperated. A criminal investigation will get to the bottom of it.
Extortion by Islamic terrorists? Wouldn’t be the first time.
Mohammed authorized extortion.
Koran 9.29 “Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they PAY THE JIZZIYA (tribute) readily, being brought low.”

Progressive religious groups have the scope and brains of a teat mouse…. it’s destructive and fuels the hatred and complicity of those who hate, such as this thief of the hamas muslim variety.

Muslim head of Christian charity’s Gaza operations convicted of embezzling millions for Hamas
…………………
Repulsive, but I am not surprised.
This is World Vision, based in the US, and from what I know an otherwise reputable charity.
Not entirely OT: I at one point seriously considered donating to World Vision in Gaza, since Christians are in such dire straits there. I finally decided not to, since Christians sadly have no future there at all, and just need to get out if they possibly can.
I never guessed that in addition to my other concerns that there was a Muslim at the top in Gaza skimming off Christian charity money for Hamas.
mortimer says
If it’s World Vision … they have been had by smooth operator.
JcAlpha says
I beg to disagree with you on a point sir. Christianity has a future everywhere, if it didn’t Jesus wouldn’t have asked that the gospel be preached everywhere.
The mistake of made by the Christians in Gaza is that, they are still trying to use human wisdom to reach the unsaved.
The bible clearly says we shouldn’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
Where did they get the idea from that they can make an unbeliever, one who doesn’t have the spirit of God in him, who hasn’t been regenerated and still blinded by the devil to lead a Christian Organization!!!
I mean who does that!!!
A Muslim will never willingly let one of another faith rule over him–Never!!!
We should be gentle as doves but wise a the serpent.
Only God knows the amount of damage that man had caused by reason of the position he occupied.
gravenimage says
Jc, Christianity may have a future everywhere in the universal sense, but in the short term Christians are suffering a genocide in Gaza. I don’t think we can ignore that.
In fact, the only place in the entire Levant where Christianity is not being wiped out is in Israel itself.
Alice W says
World Vision is not a good charity. Do not trust the rating organizations!
The Southern Poverty Law Center rates organizations and they are so very wrong!
I have found lately that most Christians do not know who they donate to.
VICTORMc. says
Oh, the tip of the iceberg has surfaced. (again) Don’t the public realise that ALL NGOs have thieves and criminals/terrorists ‘working’ for them from Oxfam downwards they pocket far far more money than they distribute to needy causes they call it ‘administration’ fees !! Try looking closely into their accounts (those that publish them) I personally would never give a penny/cent to ANY of them.
Just very recently the ‘Clinton Foundation’ ostensibly for charity and good causes was finally wound up having allowed millions and millions of $ to disappear into Clinton pockets.
Some years ago now I had a solicitor relative in London who set up an organisation called ‘Charity research’ on behalf of a client. I always recall that he told me one day “you would be staggered as to what he found.” I have deliberately not used the right name as I don’t want some itinerant lawyer knocking on my door.
gravenimage says
No, not all charities are crooked. And administration costs are valid, so long as they are kept low.
The implication that all charities are supporting Jihad terror, moreover, is just absurd.
I’m sure it keeps your charitable giving low, though…
