Minneapolis begins broadcasting Islamic call to prayer over loudspeakers

The adhan, prayed in Arabic, repeats “Allahu akbar” six times, “I testify that there is no god but Allah” three times, and “I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s prophet” twice.

Dr. Gavin Ashenden, former chaplain to the British queen, who resigned his position in protest against a Qur’an reading in a Scottish church, observed that “the Muslim call to prayer is a dramatic piece of Islamic triumphalism. It proclaims Islam’s superiority over all other religions, and in so doing casts Jesus in the role of a charlatan and a liar. The Muslim god, Allah, is unknowable and has no son. Jesus was, therefore, a fraud in claiming He and the Father are one.”

Is Minneapolis really wise to broadcast repeatedly a declaration of the superiority of Islam, a faith that directs its adherents to make war against Christians and other non-Muslims and subjugate them as inferiors under the hegemony of believers (cf. Qur’an 9:29)?

Is Minneapolis wise to broadcast the cry “Allahu akbar,” beloved of jihad terrorists the world over? Chief 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta wrote this in his letter to himself before carrying out his jihad mission: “When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” This is why the Fort Hood jihad killer, Nidal Malik Hasan, shouted it as he shot thirteen Americans in November 2009, and why so many other jihadis have used it essentially as an announcement that non-Muslims are about to die.

…This spring Minneapolis became the first large city in the United States to allow the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, to be broadcast publicly by its two dozen mosques.

As more of them get ready to join Dar Al-Hijrah in doing so, the transforming soundscape is testament to the large and increasingly visible Muslim community, which is greeting the change with both celebration and caution, lest it cause backlash.

“It’s a sign that we are here,” said Yusuf Abdulle, who directs the Islamic Association of North America, a network of three dozen mostly East African mosques. Half of them are in Minnesota, home to rapidly growing numbers of refugees from war-torn Somalia since the late 1990s.

Abdulle said that when he arrived in the United States two decades ago, “the first thing I missed was the adhan. We drop everything and answer the call of God.”…

Dar Al-Hijrah got a special permit to broadcast for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in spring 2020, when Minnesota was under a pandemic lockdown, so the faithful could hear the adhan from home, mosque director Wali Dirie said.

That community need led to the recent resolution authorizing the broadcasts more broadly. It establishes decibel levels and hourly limits in line with the city’s noise ordinance, meaning that the early-morning and late-night calls to prayer are only aired indoors….

Just like some Americans opposed church bells in the 19th century, the call to prayer has led to disputes over the years, from Duke University to Culver City, California. In Hamtramck, a small city surrounded by Detroit, councilors exempted religious sounds from the noise ordinance at a mosque’s request. Coming in the aftermath of 9/11, the amendment got embroiled in national controversy, but a referendum to revoke it failed.

In the predominantly Somali neighborhood of Cedar-Riverside, tucked between downtown and two college campuses, Dar Al-Hijrah mosque’s adhan has met no backlash.

Hoping to also prevent it, the Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center in south Minneapolis, which hosts some 1,000 men for Friday midday prayers, plans to hold meetings with neighbors before broadcasting publicly this summer.

“We care about the neighbors,” said Abdullahi Farah, the center’s director. “We have to talk to them, explain to them and at least share our views on this.”…

But other mosques are already eager to push for permission to broadcast all five prayers and hope to see Minneapolis set an example for cities across the country.

“We want Muslims to fully exist here in America,” Hussein said, adding that the adhan is the “last piece to make this home. It’s incredibly important for Muslims to know their religious rights are never infringed upon.”

Several neighborhood groups consulted by The Associated Press said that while no formal discussions have been held yet, they expect most residents will be accepting.

“People will ask, What’s that? and then say, That’s cool,” predicted Tabitha Montgomery, director of the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association.

At two churches, founded more than a century ago by Scandinavian immigrants and now within earshot of the adhan, leaders also had no objections.

Trinity Lutheran Congregation collaborates with Dar Al-Hijrah on charity and outreach events. Pastor Jane Buckley-Farlee said she likes hearing the adhan from her office.

“It reminds me that God is bigger than we know,” she said.

Hierald Osorto, pastor of the predominantly Spanish-speaking St. Paul Lutheran Church near Abubakar and another mosque, also anticipates no pushback from his flock.

In fact, he’s been thinking of bringing back the long-broken church bell as a way to gather the congregation and make it more visible in the neighborhood.

“It allows us to be known,” Osorto said.

Mowlid Ali, the imam at Abubakar, said part of the aim in broadcasting the adhan is precisely that mix of claiming belonging and outreach.

“We hope that through calling the adhan in public, it would actually bring more interest from the neighbors in knowing about the religion of Islam,” Ali said.

    So sad how self-deprecating and subservient Western Civilization has become since the 1960’s—again I assert an enormously tragic decade for the West when all the real rot began (and some good music and the NASA space program, even the laudable Civil Rights initiatives, hardly make up for this massive descent into narcissism and self-destruction).

    Meanwhile, when has any of the contemporary Islamic world “bowed” to Christianity? I’m thinking, let’s see here, NEVER.

    So, in the current pathetic West, Muslims aplenty can build their houses of worship and actively seek converts to their faith, but can Christians readily build their houses of worship in Muslim lands and actively seek converts to their faith? The query answers itself for all those who still possess common sense and accurate knowledge.

      With all due respect to you, Christianity as found in the bible was never for control of state. In fact the state and the Church was envisaged to live side by side (by the author of Christian faith, Christ) Matthew 22:21 -They *said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He *said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.”

      islam is paranoid of bowing to Christian faith and other infidels and hence it wants everyone killed or destroyed. It doesn’t even spare the archeologists who research the truthfulness or otherwise of the scriptures.

        • Agree: the Islamic call to prayer is supremacist and Muslims understand it as such. It is not just a call to prayer, but a call to jihad.

          Soon, people who are subjected to this vicious noise, will make plans to leave the neighborhood. Within two years, the demography of the area will change, becoming more and more Muslim and more supremacist. Eventually, the area will become a no-go zone.

      Comparing the US treatment of Islam to how the Islamic world treats non-Islamic religions is pointless. They have their laws. We have ours.
      I think the real question is how (in this case) Minneapolis treats other religions. Do Christian churches get the right to ring their bells? Are there noise ordinances that have a disparate impact on Christian vs Muslim establishments? (In modern times, are these broadcasts necessary?)
      Even more important, is this a violation of the First Amendment? Can it be argued that the government of Minneapolis is favoring one religion over all the others and can that be construed as an ‘establishment of religion’?

    I’ve heard the caterwauling and it isn’t “cool.” And the ‘god’ of those submitting to satan, is not the God of the Bible, the One these people say they worship, love and obey.

    They should be asking the One they supposedly have their churches for, if He thinks it is “cool” and should be reminding them of how “big” He is. But, they won’t. They’ll pretend for awhile that all is hunky-dory and then when it gets to be five times a day, and is allowed at four in the morning, and their new bell-ringing causes anger among the “mozlum community,” and ham sandwiches and a bottle of beer provoke violent attacks on them…..but then it will be way, way too late to protest….way too late for a “backlash.”

        • The Christians who were “denied” Bibles, were exposed to much evil during the time when they needed Divine Guidance and those are the times that non-Christians point to and use to condemn Christianity.

          Such ones who tried to translate the Bible into the languages others could understand were persecuted and murdered for doing so…because some claiming to be Christian wanted to keep the True knowledge found in God’s Word for themselves in order to have power over those they deemed ignorant.

        • How is it a lie to say that Christians–and others–had printed books before 1936? The printing press was invented circa 1450, and despite resistance from some authorities, it was used early to print bibles.

  6. It is a question of perspective. For most normal US citizens, this is just an annoyance — like a donkey braying on a loudspeaker. However, for Somali jihads, like those who throw little kids from the balcony of the Mall of America and the nefarious Qatar funded jihadi Ilhan Omar, this is a second great step towards the future islamic conquest of the USA, the first step being the 911 terrorist attacks.

  7. That call for prayers brardcasted for a mosque in the American citiy of Minneapolis is but one small part in the entire scheme by the stealth jihadists in the goal of the advancement of Islam with its Sharia in the United States by the method of Islamic gradualism..

    This process is by a slow but gradual steady inch by inch ,foot by foot, yard by yard then mile by mile Islamization of America with the claim of “Islam’s superiority over Western civilization and Western laws.

    One of their official spokesman declared the disingehous claim that sounds reasonable but only when taken a face value that “We want Muslims to fully exist here in America… it’s incredibly important for Muslims to know their religious rights are never infringed upon.”

    That’s the excuse that those stealth jihadists hope that many naive and uninformed Americans will be “taken in by”

    For the stealth jihadists are now testing how fast and far they can push their Islamic agenda on the United States. Even if it’s one citiy and State in the US at a time.

    Nevertheless , we as Americans mustn’t let the Muslims who are engaged in the stealth beguile , deceive and fool us. For now in the sixth month of the year 2022 we should , by this time, we should have become aware of the sly methods of the Muslims who are operatives in the stealth jihad are in the US .

  9. In Camden in Central London had a bunch of Muslims (mainly Bangladeshi) who took over a car park in front of blocks of flats and started prayers there on a Friday with a loud speaker.
    I complained to the local authority as did other non Muslim residents. It was closed down. A 5 minutes bus ride takes them to Regent Park Mosque, so they could go there.
    It’s an insidious process. After all these people have been doing it for 1400 years. Give an inch and you will all be Muslims or dhimmies or dead!

Thanks to the Leftard-Marxist-Green-useful-idiot politicians who do nothing to stop and expel the illegal Muslim invasion other than to cleverly set it up and promote it. Here you have an invasion of Muslim Somalians and before you know it, they destroy the Judeo-Christian culture that the Founding Fathers had envisioned, and noisesomly announce to all infidels that their Allah now has taken over.

      Unfortunately the Muslims are merely continuing the work started by a prior generation of Americans. People like to blame boomers but the oldest boomer didn’t graduate high school until 1964. Thank Landslide Lyndon and the Congress that revised immigration laws in 1965. Not one boomer could vote for LBJ because the voting age was still 21.

  11. Allowing Church bells that do not include the teaching of Christianity is NOT tantamount to allowing Islamic “prayers” to flood the air with islamic precepts five times a day. Islam and Sharia Law are inextricably linked and cannot be separated from the Islamic system of oppression (Sharia Law) operating under color of a religion. Islam is NOT a religion. Sharia Law IS “Repugnant to the US Constitution”. “ANY law that is repugnant to the constitution is void”-Marbury v. Madison, USSCt. (1803). This practice by the government to broadcast Islamic “Call to prayer” amounts to a violation of the establishment clause.

  12. Muslims know exactly what they’re doing. They know they’re trying to conquer America from within and this is a very slow and insidious process. They look for every opportunity where it’s obvious non-Muslims aren’t paying attention. They start from bottom and work their way up weakening the infidel of targeted country. These aren’t honest people with good intentions. These are growingly intolerant people with insidious intentions. When they’re quiet, it’s purposeful because they do want the infidels knowing what they have been doing for generations until it’s too late. They constantly push projection into the public to distract the minds of Muslims the unsuspecting infidels while they infiltrate our systems and make decisions on our school boards, city councils and anywhere else they have authority over Americans everyday lives. They also run scams on social media to raise money for political means of dominance. They know exactly what they’re doing. The smirks in their faces are so bold and confident.

    But Americans will believe the propaganda coming from Islamic apologists because the sugar-coated version is the preferred version of Islam, not the sinister pure liquid evil reality that Nigeria has been facing. Muslims are merciful towards each other and all have a Devine responsibility to spread Islam in a variety of ways no matter how irrelevant and small it may seem.

  13. America and the world are being invaded by islamic rule. Most cities outlawed years ago the use of loud speaker trucks running advertising through neighborhoods.

    If this is now legal for Muslims how about all the other churches installing loud speakers and broadcasting prayers and sermons five times a day also. Seems only fair.

    Now that we’ve opened the box can anyone or organization broadcast over loud speaker their message to the population of Minneapolis 5 or 6 times day?

The Hadid tells them to lie with a smile. In the 60’s women were wearing clothes that we wore, Suddenly they were shrouded in black from head to toe even on hot sweltering days. Mohamed the one they pay their greatest respect to married a 9 year old girl. Church bells should ring loudly if this can’t be stopped. In Europe thousands of churches have been burned to the ground. One every 12 days or so.

  15. If there are that many brained washed people in Minneapolis that allow this to happen, then it means that the news isn’t getting to them, about the 100+ verses that say to kill the unbeliever, or the “infidel”, that is in satan’s bible.
