Massachusetts: Hamas-linked CAIR claims McDonald’s put bacon in Muslim’s sandwich to ‘humiliate’ him

Hamas-linked CAIR claims that “McDonald’s employees willfully added bacon to the complainant’s food in an effort to offend, humiliate, and cause distress to complainant and her young children.”

On what basis do they claim that this was done intentionally, in order to humiliate and cause distress? Did employees make “anti-Muslim” remarks? Did they mock these people? Or is CAIR trying to make what is almost certainly an employee error, if there was bacon in the sandwich at all when the family received it from McDonald’s, into a case of “Islamophobia,” because real “anti-Muslim” incidents are so rare that they have to be manufactured?

The chances that this was done out of malice are extremely small. The person making the sandwich would have to know that Islam forbids pork. The people who work at McDonald’s are generally high school kids who may have no idea of that. Then the person making the sandwich would have to hate Muslims, when this kid has likely been told all of his or her life that Muslims suffer from “racism” and “Islamophobia” and warrant special consideration. Again, unlikely.

What this is: another shakedown attempt. McDonald’s is a big corporation with lots of money. It doesn’t want a lot of negative publicity from Ibrahim Hooper and his sinister crew calling it “Islamophobic.” So it will hand some cash over to CAIR and Ghadir Alahmar to make this go away. Works every time.

“Complaint: McDonald’s intentionally sold Muslim family bacon,” by Mark Pratt, Associated Press, June 1, 2022:

BOSTON (AP) — Workers at a McDonald’s restaurant in Massachusetts intentionally put bacon on a fish sandwich that a Muslim woman had ordered for one of her children, a civil rights organization said Wednesday.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations filed a discrimination complaint on the woman’s behalf with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

“It is commonly known that Islam forbids Muslims from eating pork,” the complaint says. “McDonald’s employees willfully added bacon to the complainant’s food in an effort to offend, humiliate, and cause distress to complainant and her young children.”…

The complaint is the first step in the process for seeking monetary damages, said Barbara Dougan, a CAIR lawyer. She also hopes it prompts McDonald’s to better train its workers to prevent a similar incident in the future.

“Religious discrimination at a place of public accommodation is not only illegal, but also morally reprehensible,” she said in a statement….

The experience prompted one the children to ask his mother if “they hate us.”

“McDonald’s made my children and me feel unwanted and worthless by intentionally stuffing a fish sandwich full of bacon for no other reason than to punish us for our faith and religious convictions,” the woman, Ghadir Alahmar, said in a statement. “This really hurt us. My children now wonder if they are welcome in their own country. They ask me, ‘Do they hate us?’ How is a mother supposed to answer that question?”

Alahmar, who wears a hajib and an abaya, entered the store on June 29 of last year with her twin 7-year-old sons, the complaint says. She ordered a plain fish sandwich, and had one of her children repeat the order to a worker in case they did not understand her accent.

They received their order, which included fries and cookies, and left the restaurant to walk to a nearby school playground where they planned to eat. One of her sons noticed the bacon.

The sandwich not only had bacon on it, but appeared to have extra bacon, the complaint says.

They did not eat the bacon, but one son ate the lower half of the bun and part of the fish filet, according to the complaint….

    • There was NO REASON for the pork on a fish sandwich. I do hate any religion which wants to take my life for being Jewish, but putting bacon or pork cracklings on fish would be absurd and obvious. There is no way it was not deliberate. If you think this is okay, you will not mind if I spit in your cornflakes. It is COWARDLY and CHILDISH. If you do it to Muhammadans, you will do it to Jews. YOU HAVE NO HONOR if you cannot out honor a Muhammadan. You do not dishonor a criminal with injustice. You DISHONOR YOURSELF. I would not do this to a robber, rapist, or murderer for that reason. YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN A MUHAMMADAN!

      • Scharf’s logic of ‘shoe-on-the-other-foot’ is reasonable, but we simply do not believe a McDonalds employee did that.

        No one should be publicly mocked like that … it’s bad manners … and bad for business as well.

        Scharf, you should realize that Islam is an HONOR/SHAME cult and a supremacist cult.

        I believe this was a melodramatic attempt to foster the narrative that Muslims are victims of a plot to humiliate them. Muslims use such narratives to justify violent jihad attacks.

The act was almost certainly not intentional and even if it was this is as nothing compared to what Muslims worldwide are doing to non-Muslims (e.g., the slaughter of Christians in Africa on a regular basis by Muslims, not to mention over 41,000 documented Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide just since 9/11).

        Muslims must play the victim card on a regular basis and this was my general point. Forget about this specific claim. See the big picture and that is there is only one major religion which is a burden to all the world and in its own theological framework requires war to be made upon humanity “until all religion is with Allah.” (Sura 8:39) Muslims being upset again means no more to mean than KKK members, Neo-Nazis, BLM members or Marxists being upset.

        And you are claiming also that “justice” can be crafted by a group of arguing politicians to exactly fit the “crime”. There is always injustice and no uniformity to sentences assessed for the same crime. Some criminals luck out, and some don’t. What is Justice, is decided by men.

        The Torah has some harsh “justice” for planting different seeds in the same field. That practice is now common, such as planting oats as a cover crop for alfalfa. My, how justice has changed.

        I’m more inclined to agree with Mortimer that it was a money-grubbing publicity hoax to keep beating on the unbelievers. CAIR has observed how noisy minorities have Americans forking over money, spouting ridiculous pronouns, bowing to the rainbow flag, considering reparations for others sins, and standing by while property is destroyed or stolen.

        The idea that there is “honor” in war, never survives to the end of a real war. CAIR’s very name implies a lie – it is not trying to improve Muslim-American relations. It is at war.

          P.S. I think the guy doesn’t get out enough. And yes, Allah is still asleep. A fiction always will be, whether 1400 years or 14,000 years or 14 million years. Hope all is well with you and yours in a very unwell world.

      • John, this is ridiculous. I have a dozen restaurants in easy walking distance that will put bacon on *any* of their sandwiches, including fish and veggie. You may consider bacon on a fish sandwich to be ‘wrong’, but bacon is very popular–especially now. Having bacon on a fish sandwich is hardly that outré.

        • Thank you, Wellington. Unlike some people I don’t assume that others automatically share all of my personal choices–I try to stay grounded in reality.

          I am aware of a lot of food trends I may not personally indulge for various reasons, including paleo diets, edible cannabis, and–yes–bacon on everything. Putting it on a sandwich is downright conservative–the Food Network has a feature titled “5 Better Ways to Put Bacon on Everything”.

      • It is true that bacon does not appear on McDonald’s fish sandwich. But who’s to say that the mother didn’t put the bacon on the sandwich herself so that she could profit monetarily and “morally” from the complaint?

  2. This is just one more bogus complaint. How can they say that it is “commonly known” that mozlums don’t eat bacon? That’s *assuming* a lot. Most people don’t go around thinking about what other people eat or don’t eat.

    and, what is more, if the place was like most at lunch time, it’s very busy, a lot of hands are reaching for sandwiches at the same time, lot of noise going on as people order and orders are called out to the people putting the stuff together in the back.

    Now, the ones putting the food together would have to be able to actually ****see**** the person ordering. for that one to **know** it’s a mozlum in full submission and then make sure the person who passes the sandwich along to the whiner gets the offensive sandwich.

    In the Mcdonalds I have been in….and I can’t count on both hands the different ones….there is a barrier between the ones making the sandwiches and those actually ringing up the price, taking money and handing over the sack to the customer. You can’t see through the barrier….it would have to be the person in back is looking down and under or moves around to see past the barrier.
    How likely is that? For what purpose? and just at the **right** time to see this mozlum whiner with her two kids…

    This is not at all likely that the one preparing the food actually moves around so he/she can see the customers who are ordering.

    If….and this is a giant if…there was bacon on a fish sandwich, someone else didn’t get the sandwich they ordered and for which they paid **extra.**.

    • The mother says the extra charge for bacon was on her receipt. Why didn’t she just go back to the McDonald’s have them redo the fish sandwich and refund the money for the bacon? That would be too easy. Unable to play the Akbar victim card.

    Restaurants across the country handle millions of orders a day. Some of those orders get mixed up–especially if the order is given by someone with a heavy accent and a first-grader. And–as noted–the order was probably taken by an over-worked high school kid who doesn’t know the first thing about Islam’s diktats.

    I’ve gotten mixed up orders–who here hasn’t? We’re also vegan–my husband once got bacon on an Impossible Burger (vegan burger) at Burger King that he didn’t discover until later. Did he assume the restaurant gave it to him to “humiliate” him? Of course not. He picked the bacon off and gave it to the pigeons. He didn’t even mention it to the restaurant, because there was really no reason to.

    Then there is the question of whether this story is true to begin with–many claims of “Islamophobia” like pulling off Hijabs have turned out to have been staged. It is well known that McDonald’s has deep pockets. I doubt they’ll be satisfied with a couple of coupons for free Fish Filet sandwiches.

      • This is just hysteria. Getting a mix up on your order isn’t treating a child like a criminal.

        In the late 1970s my brother briefly worked at a McDonald’s in San Francisco’s financial district–it was at the time the busiest McDonald’s in the state. The first couple of days he was upset that during every lunch rush there were at least a couple of order mix-ups–then he found out that they handled such a volume of orders that this was the norm.

        And this was a well-run restaurant that had won awards for excellence and had the plaques to prove it–a certain number of mistakes is just par for the course when a place is really busy.

        • I once opened a can of wolf chili and found a tree twig in it. We let the company know…so they could check their equipment…and they sent an apology letter and some coupons.

          This is how it works with civilized people who aren’t looking for ways to make some easy “jizya” and throw some fear into the company involved.

          People aren’t perfect and the busier they are, the more mistakes will happen. mozlums just look for ways to take advantages they wouldn’t have if they had stayed in pakistan or afghanistan, etc.

        Then, you are talking about *killing* someone who accidentally puts a slice of bacon on your sandwich? (that is the meaning of the line in Hebrew, for those who may not know).     • Absolutely. I thought about the fact that she took the kids to the park…with one sandwich…and there one of them discovered the bacon. If they don’t eat it, how did the kid know what it was?

      And she could easily pretend it was there because they were not in view of the restaurant or other patrons.

  11. Someone once came to me to ask about a Chinese food place because I do not eat pork. He asked if they mixed shrimp into the chicken fried rice. He came back with his face all swollen because he assumed I kept kosher. I should not have been so adamant because it tricked him into being sick. I was once given goat soap thinking it was goat cheese. I told the man who gave it I would never put soap in his coffee. He never brought is coffee thermos in again. Never mess with a man’s food. It will not meet your needs over your lifetime.

  13. What was an observant muslima doing bringing her children into a non-halal food establishment? She should be admonished by her community rather than defended. She should be reminded that her illiterate prophet who raped a nine year old girl, traded in slaves, was a sex slave owner, mass murderer, and racist, would certainly have not approved of her choice of restaurants. Ultimately, however, McDonald’s will most likely take a knee at the altar of political correctness and fork over to this vile shakedown artist a large sum of ghetto lottery ransom money.

  15. Moving forward, McDonald’s has three options:

    1. Videotape all food preparation.

    2. Stop serving any pork products.

    3. Make no changes – and it set itself up for another case of lawfare.

    • Best to videotape. they make a lot of money from their burgers with bacon added. And a lot of happy customers.

    • James, I would respectfully suggest a fourth option–when faced with this kind of claim they just offer refunds or a handful of coupons for free meals–as they would with any claim of a problem with any order–and not bow to this pressure unless they face an actual court ruling.

      If enough good people shut this claptrap down, Muslims will stop doing it.

      • Yes, g, court cases and rulings come down to “what would the reasonable man do?”

        If the “reasonable man” would take a free sandwich or two along with an apology, this should be enough to cancel out any suit the mozlums could bring.

        Because a reasonable person would accept the apology and the refund, coupons, etc. offered. After all, no one was injured or killed, and that is the usual complaint when torts are sought.
