Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has now turned to Taiwan to attract further global sympathy. Zelensky “implied the world abandoned Ukraine” and “warned the world to defend Taiwan now before China decides to invade it.” On the heels of Zelensky’s warning, China “offered the most unambiguous declaration of support to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin since the invasion of Ukraine, vowing to support Moscow’s sovereignty and security.’” Support includes economic aid as their alliance moves to a new level.
The world without significant American influence is rapidly transforming, with a global megashift in powers and alliances. America under Biden is nowhere to be found, while Russia, China and Iran are gaining in strength.
It will be catastrophic if China invades Taiwan. The UK’s Express didn’t mince words in its headline: Make no mistake China WILL invade Taiwan – and the world will be at war, pointing out is that if Taiwan is lost to China, America could “lose the Western Pacific.”
Last month, Biden suggested that the US would in fact intervene militarily should China invade Taiwan, but Biden cannot be trusted with such an operation. The Afghan debacle and Iran nuke deal fiasco were enough examples of Biden’s gross ineptitude.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday offered the most unambiguous declaration of support to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin since the invasion of Ukraine, vowing to support Moscow’s “sovereignty and security.”
The remarks were a significant rhetorical departure from Xi’s earlier call on Putin to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of “all countries” — a more universal remark that could be loosely interpreted to include Ukraine — which he made a day after the war began.
Now, more than 100 days into the war, Xi focused squarely on his support for Russia in his latest call with Putin.
“China is willing to push for the steady and long-term development of bilateral pragmatic cooperation. China is willing to mutually support Russia on core interests and matters of paramount concern, such as sovereignty and security, as well as [achieve] closer strategic cooperation,” Xi was quoted as saying by the state broadcaster CCTV.
Xi and Putin reached a “no limits” partnership just weeks before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since the war, Beijing’s attitude has often been described as the contradictory “pro-Russia neutrality,” meaning it neither condemned Moscow nor provided it with arms or means to circumvent sanctions.

I certainly laud President Zelensky for speaking up for Taiwan. Others should arm the Taiwanese to the teeth so that they can fend off the Chicoms for the next 2 years at least

Zelensky is right.
Certainly, China had begun more saber-rattling right after Russia invaded Ukraine. They seemed to back off for a while after Russia bagged down so badly in Ukraine, but now Xi seems to be doubling down.
There is no doubt that Taiwan in in greater danger now.
There is also the false claim–as has been made with Ukraine re Russia–that the Taiwanese actually want to be invaded an annexed by Communist China. The “proof of this? Most Taiwanese oppose a formal declaration of independence from China. This is true–but not because Taiwanese relish a violent takeover by Communists, but because Communist China has vowed to immediately invade if Taiwan “provokes” them with a formal declaration of not being part of Communist China.
Now Xi seems to be cozying up to Russia again–either that, or he figures that Russia can be put on the hook for high-interest loans.
Other thugs have been watching the invasion of Ukraine, wondering if it should embolden them, including Turkey threatening Greece and Israel, and Iran threatening Israel and everyone else.
Dark days for democracies. I hope the threat to Taiwan is taken seriously. Kudos to Zelensky for speaking out here.

Actually, the Taiwanese do not oppose a formal declaration of independence from China. Proof of this: they elected the DPP, which beat the KMT. Difference b/w the 2 parties: KMT claims that Taiwan is the real China, and successor to Chiang Kai-Shek’s government, whereas DPP doesn’t claim that, and claims that Taiwan would be just Taiwan, not ROC, not Chinese Taipei. Normally, this should go down well w/ Beijing, but they are too drunk on power and are more hegemonic than ever
I do fear that thanks to this government, we are likely to see a WWIII involving China, and maybe even Russia depending on what happens in Ukraine
