California’s Reparations Task Force: Black Californians should get free college, free health care, cash payments

“The 8 Most Insane Proposals in California’s 492-Page Reparations Report,” by Joseph Simonson, Washington Free Beacon, June 2, 2022:

Black Californians could enjoy child support forgiveness, free college, free health care, fewer police, and a long-term “truth and reconciliation commission” should Golden State lawmakers pass the proposals outlined this week by the state’s Reparations Task Force.

Following a 2020 law to study the subject, a panel of left-wing academics and policymakers on Wednesday released their findings on how California can remedy the harm against the state’s black residents caused by slavery and discrimination. All black Californians are eligible for the benefits of the program if they can prove they are “descendants of African Americans enslaved in the U.S. or of free Black people living in the country before the end of the 19th century.” A new state agency, called the California African American Freedmen Affairs Agency, would provide genealogical tests for residents.

The 492-page report lists the task force’s “preliminary findings and recommendations.” The final report is scheduled to be released in July of next year.

Here are eight of the most radical proposals:

1. Child support forgiveness

The panel recommends that California eliminate overdue child support owed to the government by black parents who no longer have custody of their children. Black Californians would also no longer need to “reimburse the state for current or past government assistance” related to child support….

2. Establish a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission,’ destroy ‘anti-black memorials and monuments’

The task force recommends the establishment of a commission named after the 1996 South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was created following the end of apartheid to identify human rights violations against the majority black population during their time living under white-only rule. The task force also recommends the state “create forms of acknowledgement and apology for acts of political disenfranchisement” and destroy all “anti-Black memorials and monuments,” presumably identified by the task force.

Pervasive “police violence against and extrajudicial killings of African Americans occur in California as they do in the rest of the country,” the panel concludes. As part of an effort to help heal the state’s black community, the panel recommends the state fund art that acknowledges the “trauma of state-sanctioned white supremacist terror.”

3. Free college education

The task force recommends the state eliminate tuition for all California colleges, as well as offer funding to create black-owned K-12 schools and colleges. Black Californians should also receive scholarships to “cover four years of undergraduate education” at presumably any university in the country, the task force finds….

4. Trees in black neighborhoods for ‘shade equity’

In the name of ending so-called environmental racism, the task force recommends the state fund the “planting of trees to create tree shade equity.”…

7. Free health care

Black Californians should be entitled to free health care, the task force finds. All black Californians who suffered from the country’s “anti-Black health care system” should be entitled to financial compensation as well.

To create more black doctors and health care professionals, the task force recommends that the state engage in more affirmative action programs and a “race-conscious public health policy.”

8. Cash payments to close ‘racial wealth gap’

On top of all the new forms of welfare and assistance outlined in the task force report, black Californians are entitled to cash reparations intended to shrink “the racial wealth gap.” The exact dollar amount is not specified….

        Is there any question that California Leftists want a dependent voting block? This reparations proposal is modern slavery of the mind, body, and increased destruction of the black community – vote for Dems and forget child support, have spare time on the taxpayer dime, and if it generates a potential liability, there will be money and a CA mill to fix the problem. It’s black genocide.

        • Dis will be a disincentive to all people of colour as why should they work hard and make an effort when they get it all given to them. I bet if instead of the handouts they offered free tickets one way to any African state of their choice, there would be very few takers

  2. Is there an expiration date for any of this? Will this special treatment be provided even for unborn generations of black people yet to be born? Would the child of a black person who received reparations also be eligible for reparations and so on and so on until the end of time (or the United States)?

    True reparations would consist of returning black people to the country from which their ancestors were taken into slavery. If black people believe they should not be in the United States because their ancestors did no want to be here I am all for returning them to Africa.

    • It’s already been over 150 years, why would any of these proposals not apply to all blacks ad infinitum? They have a good role model in their Palestinian friends who will never stop birthing “refugee” children and will never be responsible for anything in their lives.

      Dependant voters as mentioned above is the name of the game. They’ve already seen that affirmative action will not create equality between the races. Might as well bribe their way to Soviet level support for the next few generations.

    This is f*cking insane. California was *never* a slave state, and escaped or freed slaves often fled to California. Slaves brought here by their owners often found their slaves simply left. The fugitive slave act was seldom enforced here.

    There are certainly some strong Black families. But many, most even, are not–the community is riven with broken families, and worse–situations that were never families to begin with, but just random impregnations. *72%* of Black children are born out of wedlock, often without a ‘baby daddy’ even being anywhere in the picture.

    A system that *deliberately encourages and enables* Black fathers to further abandon their families by not even providing child support is just going to make things even worse.

    My parents were from England and the free state of Michigan. None of my family ever owned slaves, and on my father’s side there were soldiers who fought for the Union. My husband was born in Chicago, and his late 19th century ancestors were Irish and German. None of his family ever owned slaves. That we should pay “reparations” to people who were never slaves is just grotesque.

    This is just going to fuel resentment. How could it not?

  5. This proposal is the biggest barrel of hog slop I have EVER seen. Where are the reparations for people in my situation, white, european, anglo-saxon, germanic protestant whose ancestors were indentured (white slavery) for years in order to pay off the inflated cost of transportation to the new world?
    I do not care if you are white, yellow, black, red or brown….get off your backside and WORK for what you wan, don’t expect a handout and STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM CARD!!!

    How many Black people will move to Ca …with a drought so bad, they are cutting water to people’s homes who use more than the gov wants them to use;…where you can’t have a gas-powered lawn mower….where druggies use the streets for bathrooms and druggies shoot up in public with gov provided needles…so they can get “free stuff”?

    How many White people will leave the state for places elsewhere so they don’t have to pay all of this to make up for the slaves they never owned to people who never were slaves?

  8. America had had the capacity to improve and improvise for a better society from its very origins. Crap like reparations for blacks only counters America at its best by stoking grievances which no amount of money or largesse will ever satisfy.

    Victimology, itself a massive error, is now a “standard” in the Democratic Party—and just one more reason (my God, there are so many) why the Democratic Party needs to bite the dust and be no more. The present Democratic Party is in the process of destroying America. Rather tired of those who still don’t comprehend this.

  10. How aoiut a genuine probedm. The Issei and Nisei of Wordd Wr II. Most of them suffered financial loss because of the “relocation”- After 50 years there was somne repartionl but not enouigh., Then lots of Germans and Italians were also relocated during the war, and hjow many of them were repaid for their losses: KEN

    • There were already reparations for Japanese interned in WWII. This happened back in 1988.

Negroes in the USA would better if they learned that success is the best revenge, but there is now a generation that expects a hand out and has no need for a hand up and along comes this ridiculous action thats even worse than Affirmative Action Programs as that didnt work out too well either did it.
    Every other Race in America is willing to work for their food and looking at the Vietnamese refugees that arrived in the mid 1970s and look at where they are today as I have yet to see one sitting on the sidewalk demanding I give him what I have earned.
    Its pandering 101 to hand black folks in CA all that free stuff become that prick Newsome thinks the black folks aint smart enough to better themselves…

  14. California is a lost state. That is why they are losing thousands every week who move out of the asylum that is California and over to other states.

    The problem is they take their insane politics with them and will eventually tirn other places into asylums too.

  15. I recommend all lightly complected persons be reduced to pelts and hides. Then, at long last, they can be made to contribute more than their snotty attitudes.
