Wyoming Republican senator apologizes for saying there are ‘two sexes’

In today’s colleges and universities, you will get booed and be forced to apologize for stating an obvious reality.

“Sen. Lummis Apologizes For Saying There Are ‘Two Sexes,’” by Brianna Lyman, Daily Caller, May 17, 2022:

Republican Wyoming Sen. Cynthia Lummis issued an apology Monday for stating the biological fact that there are only “two sexes” during a commencement speech at the University of Wyoming, according to a report.

Speaking at the commencement address Saturday, Lummis said constitutional rights were being threatened and “even fundamental scientific truths such as the existence of two sexes, male and female, are subject to challenge these days.”

Lummis’ remarks were immediately met with a barrage of “boos” from the crowd….

The university’s president, Ed Seidel, later released a statement condemning the remarks without directly naming Lummis. 

“One of our speakers made remarks regarding biological sex that many on campus take issue with. While we respect the right of all to express their views, from students to elected officials, we unequivocally state that UW is an institution that supports and celebrates its diverse communities that collectively make us the wonderful place that we are.”

Lummis later issued an apology, Oil City News first reported.

“My reference to the existence of two sexes was intended to highlight the times in which we find ourselves, times in which the metric of biological sex is under debate with potential implications for the shared Wyoming value of equality,” the statement, obtained by the Daily Caller, read….”it was never my intention to make anyone feel un-welcomed or disrespected, and for that I apologize….

  1. I thought “sex” and “gender” are now considered to be two different things. There are only two sexes but there can be an unknown number of different genders – so they say. So, I think she really did not say anything wrong even according to the new rules of the religion of “woke.”

    • They were always separate until some people got squeamish about using the word ‘sex’ and decided ‘gender’ was more polite. Contrary to what some people say there are NOT an unlimited number of genders. There are THREE genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. Neuter is neither masculine nor feminine. Lesbian, for instance, is not a gender. By definition it refers to a female. Almost all the other letters in that group can refer to either males or females.
      The people who insist there are more than two sexes must have failed basic biology in high school.

          their “gender” is “cake gender” because they see themselves, not as a cake, but like a cake being light and fluffy. I’ve never before heard of a “light and fluffy” personality, but that is much easier to comprehend than a “cake gender.”

        • Yes, what she is calling gender I would call a metaphor. A cake gender person is someone who has a light and fluffy personality. Going with that way of thinking I suppose the same person could change genders from day to day and sometimes be knife gender – cold and sharp. It’s something that would be discussed in an English of Language Arts class not in a biology class. I don’t think it has anything to do with sex at all but with the use of words.

        • Sounds about right. Watch out for the Knife genders, and the saw genders, and machete….that kind of thinking could mean real trouble; esp if mozlums are the ones changing theirs from day to day.

        • IN your later comment, you said it was all about the use of words. That is exactly right. Words have genders. Cake is not a gender identity. It HAS a gender identity: neuter.

        • PMK, yes, those people who booed the senator no longer understand the English language and now communicate using a new language made up of words that sound like English but actually are not. At least that is my guess. Both languages sound the same but when speakers of the two languages try to communicate confusion is the result.

        • It’s kind of like the word “taco.” It’s a food to some of us, but to some who speak Spanish in some South American nations, it’s a very bad word.

          We are using the same vowels and consonants, but the meanings are different. And it’s all by design from those who want to completely “transform” society.

        • I’m sorry. a friend from Honduras told me a long time ago that it was a very bad word, but did not tell me what it meant. I just think of it as the little package of corn…..soft or crispy…with meat and tomato, cheese and beans with a little lettuce.

          These are just personality traits and interests, not “gender” or sex.

          In many ways I am a “girly girl”–I love to cook, love petit jewelry, and have a subscription to Victoria Magazine.

          But I also build furniture, and am a history buff. If furniture needs assembling, I’m generally the one who does it. I’ve been told that I have a “masculine” style of debate, and some readers here have assumed that I am male.

          My husband is very masculine in most ways, is a huge sports fan and in fact writes about sports professionally as a side line. I like sports–or I used to before “wokeness” made such inroads–but I am no where near as knowledgeable as he is. He’s the tech guy in the family–if I have computer problems I go to him first. He can often fix the problem, and knows where to go if he can’t.

          But he also writes poetry–as do I–and he makes great potato pancakes. We both write fiction and do design work.

          Then, we also share a lot of shared interests like Film Noir and silent films.

          So, as some of these fools would have it, we must be terribly confused about our gender. Except we aren’t. We just both have a wide range of interests.

    • Just stop apologising. There is nothing to apologise for when one is stating scientific facts. I expect the soldiers in the forces are being told they will have to apologise tot he enemy they are fighting

  4. It was kind of a “left-handed” apology. She apologized not for what she said but only if it made someone feel “unwelcome or disrespected”. A non-apology apology. After all the Earth is not flat.

    • Rarely, I saw your response to my questions on the baby formula topic. I understand what you are saying. We are somewhat in agreement. Joe Biden is not actually trying to get rid of white people. What he wants is more people in the country who will vote for the Democratic Party so as to keep him and Pelosi and other white Democrats in power. That is his plan and allowing entry to more immigrants from Central and South America is beneficial to that plan. The baby formula shortage was not that important to him because the people at the border had what they needed. To him it’s all a matter of what will get him the most votes. Does going to Waukesha for the mass killing there of white people get him votes? No, it detracts from his message that white people are the problem. Does he go to Buffalo. Yes, because it enforces his message that white people are the problem. He is focused on his message and his message is that white people are bad and those who are not white are victims. That gets him votes – even from white people and white people are so afraid of being thought of as racists that they will still vote for him to avoid ever being called that – even if their children must suffer (because Joe Biden and the Democrats have made them think they deserve to suffer).

        I don’t know what’s going through Biden’s head but it certainly isn’t for more votes for him personally because none of the new immigrants will be eligible to vote during his career. We’ll get a better idea when we see how he deals with the inevitable rush of immigrants from the Ukraine.
        The idea of open borders doesn’t make much sense today as there is a serious risk of being overrun by “undesirables” but I suppose that was always seen as a problem. Irish Catholics fleeing the potato famine were seen as “undesirables” in the late 1800s and the horrid policies restricting Jewish immigration to a mere handful during the Nazi era are but two examples.
        In almost all cases it’s hard to know where to draw the line. Some level of bigotry is usually involved.

    Breaking that down further, how many faculty, students, and parents were in categories a and b?

  7. All this crap is completely nuts. I hope that one day these nutcases who think that there are more than two sexes come to their completely deluded senses. To me, the mystery is that this nonsense gets so much attention these days. How the transgender mob and all the left wing wankers who are really aiming to destroy the family and other normal aspects of life with this nonsense (all part of the cultural Marxist agenda) manage to get so much power is a mystery to me. I guess that the more normal people who believe that there are only two sexes are too busy doing the things normal people do.

    • Well, before I retired my life was just getting up in the morning, going to work and doing my job and nothing but my job, then going home in the evening to watch whatever news one of the three main networks told me happened for the day. That was pretty much it. I’ve been retired several years but I think life is still that way for most people. Now I have time to be better informed. I don’t know what other people do who don’t have a job – play video games maybe or sit around thinking up new genders?

      • Yes, my life was pretty much like the life you outline there, CogitoErgoSum. I am genuinely amazed at some of the bullshit that seems to be around these days. A friend of mine did say that, well, you’re old and I guess old people have always been stunned by what young people are coming out with. But this multiple gender crap and the brainwashing of young children in this nonsense, the tearing down of statues of historical figures, who achieved great things, but maybe owned slaves or something way back then, all this very racist hatred directed at people for being white, and so on, does seem absolutely ridiculous to me. I am amazed that the vast majority of people haven’t fought back and said, hey, this is all a load of bullshit. I also just thought of that obvious idiocy where women and girls are being thrashed in sporting events by these transgender males. This is so obviously wrong and unfair that it should have already been ended. The other night a commentator out here in Australia did say that she believes that at least 90% of people would agree that this situation with women being forced to compete with transgender types in sport is unfair and I’m sure that’s true. Some of the nonsense some people seem to believe these days really does stun me. There’s just a lack of basic common sense.

        • For our parents, it was rock n roll and hula hoops and some “cool” slang; but even some of those learned to dance to the music. My mom had a lot she complained about, but she liked one group a lot; Freddie and the Dreamers.

        • Yes, it’s weird stuff these days, somehistory. I get what these destroyers, these cultural Marxists are up to, but this gender fluidity and the amount of attention it gets, is beyond weird to me. It seems like such far out nonsense to me that it should be laughed out of existence. All this “pregnant people” and “chest feeding” and all the utter nonsense they try to inflict on people is annoying and it is all a pretty nasty put down of women and mothers. Anyway, I keep thinking that sanity will return and this garbage will turn out to be a passing, idiotic fad. For our parents, I can see how the drug scene and the hippies and anti-war stuff back in the late 1960 and into the 1970s would have seem very weird and threatening.

This WY Lady is a fool to apologize to the mentally ill because they all think free speech should be allowed but not the ”straight forward” kind of free speech where somebody actually states a FACT that there are only two genders and if these young people have a wee hissy fit because somebody laid that truth on them, then so be it.
    We are screwed as we now have a generation that has never experienced War, hunger, or hardship and they dont even know what bloody sex they are and so make shit up in order to fill that empty void inside their heads.

      For those not familiar, this is what Captain Picard (the Star Trek character) yells while under torture by the Cardassians, when they try to get him to say there are five lights when there are just four. He bravely sticks to the facts.

      This is probably a reference to Orwell’s 1984, where Winston Smith’s torturer asks him how many fingers he is holding up–he is holding up four fingers, but his torturer wants him to say there are five. Unlike the brave Captain Picard, Smith does finally cave and spouts the lie.

      The thing now is that it doesn’t take torture to get people to affirm this bs, but just the threat of disapproval by the “politically correct”.

    • She’s been married since 1978 and has a daughter, so she does actually understand biology. But like so many, she has been bullied into denying it. Sad to see.
