New in PJ Media:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Absolut) ventured deep into enemy territory on Tuesday, traveling to Ron DeSantis country to speak at the Aspen Ideas Climate Conference in Miami. While there, she sounded an uncharacteristically generous tone, insisting (despite the Left’s gallop toward authoritarianism, what with the Disinformation Governance Board, the Jan. 6 Committee, the claim that “white supremacists” are the biggest terror threat, and all the rest) that she really wants a “strong Republican party.” There’s just one catch: as far as the sage House speaker is concerned, a “strong Republican party” would be indistinguishable from the Democrat party.
Pelosi said this in the context of explaining that she hoped to transform the Left’s climate agenda into a “bipartisan issue.” Turning to the audience, she said in a confidential tone, “You don’t want me to get too political here, do you?” To laughter, she continued:
I mean, the fossil fuel industry, it — they weigh in so significantly. I mean, how could it be that nobody on the Senate side cares — on the — in the Senate, cares about climate. Some of them do, and they talk about it, when it comes to the votes, it just isn’t there, there, just aren’t there. So rather than saying, ‘Well, we have to defeat them,’ no, let’s just try to persuade them. I want the Republican party to take back the party, take it back to where you were when you cared about a woman’s right to choose, and you cared about the environment, and all, and all the great, all the —
Ah yes, the good old days when the Republican party was pro-abortion and in favor of big government environmentalist meddling crippling the American economy. When exactly was that? Well, no doubt Pelosi longs for the days when Nelson Rockefeller, John Anderson, and George H. W. Bush gave us a Republican party that was essentially the same as the Democrat party, and that group is still very much with us, as Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, and Lisa Murkowski remind us at every opportunity.
But they are not the vanguard of the party and may not even be a majority and are unpopular with the party base, and Pelosi finds that … deplorable. She has made this clear before. PJM’s Chris Queen noted that in remarks at the Cambridge Union in the UK in September 2021, “Pelosi spoke to the audience as though she were addressing the GOP directly, telling them that the Republicans have done ‘wonderful things for the country’ in the past. But she chastised the party for allowing a ‘cult’ to ‘hijack’ its agenda.” The “cult” is, of course, apparently the followers of Donald Trump.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Her insincerity could sour sweet cream.

The mischaracterization of the MAGA movement goes on by fantasists like Pelosi. Cult? Was there a ‘CULT’ of FDR? Was there a ‘CULT’ of John Kennedy? Was there a ‘CULT’ of Barack Obama, elected because of his skin color alone, since even Obama admitted he did not have the knowledge to do the job.
So … it isn’t a ‘CULT’ when the Dems do it.
When the Dems idolized their leaders (as they have in the past), then that’s the way it should be.
I don’t think Donald Trump, though, is idolized in the same mindless way. Rather, Trump supporters consider their candidate to be the wisest manager of the nation (he is a trained economist) and he is the wisest leader of the free world that has come along since Eisenhower.

+2 with the single reservation that Reagan deserves a great deal of credit as well respecting economic (and virtually all other) matters. As Alexander Bessmertnykh, Gorbachev’s Foreign Minister, said, and I quote, “Ronald Reagan’s defense spending and Strategic Defense Initiative (stupidly described by the the Left as “Star Wars”) accelerated the demise of the Soviet Union.”

Projection: as deep w/ the Left as it is w/ muslims. Everything she said about Republicans is true about her own party

Seconded.

Along with Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi is another one that belongs in a retirement home. This old woman is only a few years away from becoming fossil fuel herself. How does she keep getting elected? Why do the voters in California keep putting her back into office? Is San Francisco a better place to live since she was first elected?
I know the U.S. is not a better place to live since either she or Joe Biden came to office. It’s definitely not a better place than it was just two years ago. For the good of our country Pelosi, Biden and almost all the Democrats currently running the U.S. need to be retired by the voters. Their time is up and the people of the U.S. need to wake up to the fact that these old Democrat grifters have just been using the U.S. government for their own personal gain. I can no longer stand either the sight or the sound of them.

“There is no fool like an old fool,” but what is worse is when the “old fool” is a lying old fool.
She believes she is so wonderful, smart, funny, beautiful…she even criticized gaven newsom, but was on the receiving end from the mob of baby-killing voters who reminded her of what their efforts got her…got her to where she is as “speaker.” They insist she can do more to further their goals.
All of her supporters in Florida should get out of the state and move to san fran to be near the old hag.

They probably could not afford to live there … unless they want to live in one of the homeless camps with the mentally ill and the drug addicts. They might be able to get work removing human excrement from the streets in front of houses in return for food. Might even get some ice cream from Nancy.

If they support her, if they agree with her, if they pay to hear her speak, they are mentally ill so they would fit right in.

Nancy Pelosi Wants a ‘Strong Republican Party.’ Really, She Does. There’s Just One Catch.
………..
So *when*, exactly, was the Republican Party just like the Democrats?
You hear this a lot now–that the Republican Party was indistinguishable from the Dems before Trump, and that Democrats loved them. Are there people who believe this? Sadly, probably.

To some extent, gravenimage, Pelosi is speaking the truth, rare as this is. Pre-Newt Gingrich, when Bob Michels was Minority Leader, the Republican Party was content to be in second place permanently and getting a few bones thrown to them here and there by the Democrats for being so subservient. This is what Pelosi means I think.
But then Gingrich came along and changed everything in 1994. Since then, because many Republicans are not in the Michels mold, Pelosi longs for the good old days when Republicans were content to permanently be in the minority (minus the Senate under Reagan being majority Republican through Reagan’s first six years in office).

I guess the Republican Party was only OK for Pelosi between 1992 and 1994… 🙂
