Old Joe Biden’s handlers haven’t been able to give us a clear answer about what the Department of Homeland Security’s ominous new Disinformation Governance Board is actually going to do. But now its censorship power-drunk chief, Nina Jankowicz, has provided a detailed description of an authority she wants to have in order to fight this alleged disinformation, and it’s downright chilling.

So far, the powers behind the Disinformation Board haven’t been able to get their stories straight about exactly what “disinformation” the Board would supposedly combat. When Politico first revealed the existence of the Board, it said it would be “countering misinformation related to homeland security, focused specifically on irregular migration and Russia.” Then DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas went further, saying it would “combat this threat not only to election security, but to our homeland security.” Jen Psaki then suggested that it would be dealing with supposed disinformation about “COVID for example, and also elections and eligibility.” Under fire over this brazen assault on the First Amendment, Mayorkas claimed that the Board would not be dealing with the statements of American citizens at all.

Jankowicz, however, appears to have different ideas. In a video that surfaced Tuesday, Jankowicz is speaking to a panel of nine people; seven are visible, and two have their cameras turned off. The disinformation czarina spoke of how Leftists must start to micromanage Twitter in order to combat the speech of those whom they hate.

The available video begins with Jankowicz dropping a bomb about Twitter verification: “Um, and I am eligible for it because I’m verified, but there are a lot of people who shouldn’t be verified who aren’t, you know, legit, in my opinion, I mean, they are real people but they’re not, um, trustworthy.” Now, Twitter verification began simply as a way for prominent people to be distinguished from impersonators. The Leftists who have been running Twitter muddied the waters somewhat when they began taking away some people’s verification badges (the famous blue checkmark) or denying it to some highly popular accounts for the crime of dissenting from the Left’s line. But now Jankowicz wants to take the idea of the blue checkmark as some badge of honor to a new level, denying it to those whom she considers to be not trustworthy. Why we should trust her judgment in this is left unexplained.

Jankowicz continued, “Anyway, so verified people can, um, essentially start to edit Twitter, the, the same sort of way that Wikipedia is, so they can add context to certain tweets….”

  1. As it says later in the article on PJ Media, “It’s unclear when this panel discussion was filmed.”

    As recently as this week, I was on Twitter and noticed that the blocking of tweets in response threads by those deemed undesirables or something were back. The infamous “this tweet may contain offensive content” and whanot. And any time I would click it, the tweet was completely benign and factual. Clearly only an attempt to control the conversation on Twitter.

    So you have to wonder if this discussion was captured even very recently. And you have to wonder how many people Musk will have to fire to clean up Twitter and make it free speech as he envisions and not manipulated by left-fascists. If the corrupted FTC doesn’t suddenly make some bogus ruling and block him outright.

    She might actually securely feel with with her D.G.B.that she is really doing “the right thing” and is “doing good.”,” She certainly believes that what she is doing is protecting the freedom of speech by getting rid of all the “disinformation” and “hate” that is blocking the way of the truth and giving the truth a clear path.

She has no business making law if she doesn’t even know some of the most important Laws already on the books and **why** they are laws; and then making such a foolish remark. tlaib says they can do this as long as they don’t have violent speech, and warren says that the Justices are hypocrites for putting up a fence around the Court. warren and talib are just as ignorant about what the Law really means.

    So, Law doesn’t matter to these people. They are lawbreakers….”verified” lawbreakers…and proud of it.

  14. Are some of these people sitting at home and wearing a mask while participating in a tele-conference? Are they worried some germs are going to spread over the internet? These are people with mental health problems. They see the world from the viewpoint of a lunatic who can pass through different levels of sanity depending on the phases of the moon. All of their ideas should be understood with that in mind. When they get together and talk to each other they can be very dangerous. (Some of them may even eat insects.)

          I agree. He seems like an honest man…unlike most of the rest who are in it for the money and power.

          He’s holding up the 40 billion to ukraine because he says he took an oath to the Constitution and not to some other nation; he wants someone to oversee the money and where it’s supposed to go to make sure it does. but, both mcconnel and schumer rats are complaining.

          Sen. Paul looks very tired, though. Hope he takes good care.

  16. Mr. James O’Keefe made an attempt to speak with a twi exec, but the guy ran into NYC traffic to avoid him. the video is posted on FPM and only about five minutes long. The exec had mocked Mr. Musk and evidently…I write that because city traffic is very loud…the exec also mocked people with special needs.

    They can dish it out, but can’t take it….

    This *is* chilling–and perhaps even worse in some ways than simple censorship. It is unclear how far this “adding context” would go–Nina Jankowicz talks about their being able to edit others’ Tweets.

    And how are these “trustworthy verified people” to be vetted? And by whom? Deeply disturbing.

    Twitter’s verification feature, in which verified users receive a “blue check” next to their Twitter handles, was introduced more than a decade ago as a means to indicate that an account holder is “authentic, notable, and active.” It is aimed at helping users identify celebrities and public figures while distinguishing them from imposters or parody accounts.

    Obviously what Nina Jankowicz has in mind goes *way* beyond this to some sort of ideological litmus test.

    On a lighter note, the woman in the middle on this Zoom call appears to be all masked up even though she is alone in the office…
