Who ordered this to be done, and why, and under what pressure? In any case, it is consistent with Amazon’s previous demonstrations of Sharia adherence: see here and here. Apparently only editions of the Qur’an that are uncritical and apologetic in intent can be sold as Qur’ans.
Amazon does many things to keep sales of dissident books low. It never listed my book The History of Jihad in the History of Islam section, where would naturally have belonged; you’ll find it in “African Politics” and “Radical Political Thought.” This is neither accidental nor careless. It’s designed to ensure as much as possible that someone browsing for a book on a particular subject will not stumble upon one that dissents from the establishment line.
Get the book here as soon as you can; it may not be available at all for long.

Amazon removes The Critical Qur’an from its ‘Qur’an’ bestseller list
………….
Just grotesque–reality has not changed. This is pure politics from Amazon, counter to their own metrics.
Wellington says
No surprise. Amazon is not objective. It leans Left, often Far Left. One knows this or should know it.
But a billionaire like Bezos who owns Amazon and The Washington Post, per Elizabeth Warren aka Pocahontas, ditto for other billionaires such as Zuckenberg and the truly evil Soros, is OK with this because Bezos and the other two rogues are Leftist, yet a billionaire like Elon Musk is a real threat since buying Twitter because he has, OMG, indicated he will allow ALL points of view. (N.B., Leftists do not want all points of view expressed {especially if conservative points of view} and this helps explain the deeply offensive Disinformation Board headed by a total loon, Nina Jankowicz, as recently established by the bogus Biden Administration
This is how transparently stupid and hypocritical the Left is. By now, one knows this or should know it. Please, no more excuses for the Left, which is totalitarian and Orwellian to the deepest recesses of its highly fallacious and double standard soul. Sick of them all, including the ignorant rubes who keep voting for Leftists not knowing what they intend for us all (e.g., many of the well meaning fools who ACTUALLY voted for Biden because Trump was just so mean).

I stopped getting my books at Kindle years ago, and currently have them all at Nook. I just hope B&N does nothing like this
PMK says
Right now, B&N physical bookstores are my source for books. I wanted to buy one of Raymond Ibrahim’s earlier books and I went to the B&N website and found a store that still carried it. I stopped buying from Amazon years ago.
Infidel says
The few ebooks that I do have on Kindle – is there a way to transfer that to Nook?
gravenimage says
Infidel, here is some information:
https://www.pdfmate.com/transfer-kindle-books-to-nook-book.html
I’ve never done this–hope this is useful.
Infidel says
Thanks, Graven. Will try it out

Bill Garrison says
Mr. Spencer: I have just received “The Critical Qur’an”. Did I miss something in the Intro? But why are so many footnotes missing? See page 9 & 13 for a start.
Robert Spencer says
Can you please email me a photo of what you mean? On pages 9 and 13 there are extensive footnotes. And is there something clearly missing in the footnotes? This is the first I’m hearing about this. My copy has no problems. If yours has pages missing I’ll make sure an intact one is sent right out to you.
Q says
I noticed on page 14 in THE COW Sura 2 footnotes skip from 11 to 18 , omitting 12,13,14,15,16,17 listed in the text above. I did find references in the Endnotes .
Robert Spencer says
There aren’t footnotes on every single verse.
VICTORMc. says
When I read these sorts of items I always remember the words of Gadaffi who said “we don’t need arms or rifles etc.” (or words to that effect “we will breed you out of existence”
The only true thing ever emanating from his vile mouth….you had better believe it.
David Rasch says
What amazon does is none of my business. After I have read my copy, due to be delivered today, I will comment on Amazon. I know there will be vicious, emotional, unreflecting nonsense comments.
gravenimage says
Actually, David, so far almost all reader reviews are very positive:

Here’s someone likely unclear on the concept.
This poster calls himself “Perfect quran” and gave The Critical Qur’an five stars, and wrote:
“Masha allah….perfect and objective quran…..every muslim should have one….it changed my life….ya allah”
Let me take a guess that this fool has *not* read Mr. Spencer’s book. He probably just spams this same comment on any Qur’an for sale. Pretty hamfisted Da’wa…
Jay Lykins says
If Amazon removed it, why is it still listed as a “Best Seller” on their website (05/03/2022)?
Robert Spencer says
Amazon didn’t remove it. Amazon removed it from their “Quran” category so that it wouldn’t show up as the bestselling Qur’an.
Olowu says
Amazon removing The Critical Qu’ran from the list is supposed to belong to is wrong…not wanting many people to read about jihad and the intentions of jihadists and Islam is depriving millions in the West what they’re up against.
Like I always say…Islam is not a religion but the biggest political movement masquerading as a religion to dominate the world, bring everyone under it and control. But I know that won’t be possible because many muslims are beginning to see that the religion is not just harsh but deprived them of freedom to express themselves fully in every aspect of life.
Islam will be killed from within with the help of those around the world who wants to live peaceful as humans with all rights.
gravenimage says
Islam is a a religion–just a very evil religion.
Alfredo says
The dhimmihood of the Western world continues at a reckless pace at the hands of the purveyors of the vile and destructive Cancel Culture.
Amazon is at the forefront front of this racist, hate the West agenda. As it was clearly demonstrated when this corporate predator cancelled Parler with malicious intent.
Even though the Critical Qur’an has absolutely nothing to do to with race. But the real racists insist that any criticism of Islam is racist. But the “religion of peace” is not a race. It is an ideology disguised as a religion.
Toad says
The ironic part is that Islam is a racist ideology. That is, it is an Arab superiority death cult. Allah only hears prayers in Arabic.
There, I said it.
Spideyweb1 says
Yes.. you spoke the truth.. I feel better too
Derek says
Hope Amazon would still deliver all the copies my friends and I ordered. It’s very sad to watch the world slide into dhimmitude.
Spideyweb1 says
I just checked if it was on Amazon. It’s there if you wanna order it. I still despise Amazon and their Nazi tactics to suppress freedom of speech. Only Marxist reviews can air their venom and not have their voices cancelling from the Nazi genocidal woke scum who monitors the content. There, I feel better now.
gravenimage says
Amazon has not removed the book–they removed it from its list of Qur’ans, even though it is a Qur’an, and has the entire text plus commentary.
I’m sure Amazon received some whining that the commentary is in many cases critical, so they removed it from the list of Qur’ans.
Still the bestseller, though!
