“Ibn Abbas said: Do not kill women if they apostatize from Islam, but imprison them and call them to Islam, and coerce them upon it.” (Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah, Al-Musannaf)
And as for beating her when she tried to rebel:
“Men are in charge of women, because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend of their property. So good women are obedient, guarding in secret what Allah has guarded. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, give them a warning and banish them to separate beds, and beat them.” (Qur’an 4:34)

The woman was unable to dress as she wished, was forced to eat in a separate room from men, was not free to decide anything and not even allowed to watch TV, the court heard.
She was only allowed to take care of her husband, the man’s home and their two children….

Nothing could be more Islamic than imprisoning women at home. A Saudi doctor revealed he had many female patients who had never left their homes in over 20 years. They lived in their living room, watching tv all day.

No need for any of this–many Muslims believe that women should be kept in Purdah, unable to leave home only with a male “Mehram” (“owner”), and then only very rarely, as a matter of course This is orthodox Islam.
