WHO Boss Says Concern for Ukraine is Racist

Here we go again.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has criticized the global community’s focus on the war in Ukraine, arguing that crises elsewhere, including in his home country of Ethiopia, are not being given equal consideration, possibly because the people affected are not white.

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus questioned whether “the world really gives equal attention to black and white lives” given that ongoing emergencies in Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan and Syria had garnered only a “fraction” of the concern for Ukraine.

“I need to be blunt and honest that the world is not treating the human race the same way,” he said. “Some are more equal than others.”

Last month Tedros said there was “nowhere on Earth where the health of millions of people is more under threat” than Ethiopia’s Tigray region.

Coincidentally, Tedros’ family comes from the Tigray region.

The WHO boss is entitled to care about the Tigray region and likewise Europeans are entitled to care more about Ukraine. Perhaps objectively everyone should care about everything equally, but people do have kinship biases and it’s not racist to have them.

If it’s racist for Europeans to focus on Ukraine, it’s also racist for Tedros to focus on Tigray.

Earlier this year the Ethiopian government sent a letter to the WHO accusing Tedros of “misconduct” after his sharp criticism of the war and humanitarian crisis in the country.

It said Tedros was using his office “to advance his political interest at the expense of Ethiopia” and said he continued to be an active member of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

Tedros was Ethiopia’s foreign minister and health minister when the TPLF dominated the country’s ruling coalition.

I’m sure that has nothing to do with it.

    I am soooo sorry, “Dr Tedros” of The WHO, to be concerned about a Ukraine-Russian conflict which has the potential to kill everyone I love if some official or military power mis-steps. I’ll try do better during the next potential nuclear war. Right now, I’m more concerned with Dr Strangelove – though you both seem a bit off-kilter.

    • ‘Climate Change, Global Warming’. If I remember, correctly, from what I heard and what was pushed in the late 60s and 70s…the earth should be either a cold desolate planet or a desolate hot desert by now. The earth goes through climate changes periodically and I doubt that ‘man’ has an absolutely major impact on these changes, although, re-cycling is a good thing, if only to help eliminate trash build-up. They talk about the ‘Green New Deal’, but we do not have the technology, at this time, to make it a reality. Electric cars are no more than a ploy being used to make us ‘think’ we are doing the right thing.

        I can save my wife from the car dealer’s excessive repairs on her combustion engine auto because I understand how everything in it works, how to repair it, and when it doesn’t need repair. When someone scam quotes repairs, she asks me about it and it doesn’t go any further.

        Our auto service repair bill for 2 cars, 16 years = $750. Had to have a clutch replaced, didn’t have a hoist.

        Now imagine the EV. No available manuals, lethal voltages, continual revisions, and a toxic battery pack that won’t last 10 years. A repair scammer’s dream.

  2. I don’t understand how this guy is still the boss of WHO. His ignoble running comments on China’s accomplishments on China virus notwithstanding, his is still sounding the same.

    Doesn’t he have the brains to distinguish the difference between attacks on a certain country and Ukraine being flattened by a thug just because Ukraine is too insignificant to fight back? The enormity of scale of destruction itself should be enough to discern the situation.

As stated in “The Wizard of OZ”…”Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” We must look at the propaganda side to the war in Ukraine, too…as the propaganda from ‘all’ sides is flowing thick and heavy and seems to be ‘designed’ to hit us in our emotional soft-spot.
    All of us must take care and try not to be manipulated by those who have an agenda for socialism or a OWG. We need to look at the ‘News Media’ with a very critical eye as the lies and propaganda they spew are designed to polarize people. The days of honest news-reporting seem to be gone…the days when news reporting was mostly unbiased, letting the individual decide for themself what they believe. Now…we are ‘told’ what to believe and those who question what they are being told are becoming outcasts in our society and targeted socially. Look at news reports and what the ‘intent’ seems to be. You’ll find that if it is ‘designed’ to elicit an ’emotional’ reaction it may be designed for manipulation…just as those commercials that show the ‘suffering’ of people, children and animals are designed to do…pull at our heart strings and emotions.
    We must learn to look at and hear things without the emotional response they want. ‘Emotional response’, most of the time, will lead us to paths we don’t really want to go down.

Moreover, Putin has now created the biggest refugee crises since WW2, a forthcoming Famine in the African Continent, and masses of orphans, widows, invalids and Russian mothers who will never see their sons again.

      Ritter has ranted that the problem with 9/11 was “right wing terror”.

      As for his supposed political acumen, he claimed in 2005 that George Bush had signed off on bombing Iran. He spent a lot of time shilling for this on Al Jazeera, and he blamed this on the “Israel lobby”. He wrote a book about it. Of course, this never happened.

      • After listening to Ritter’s view of the Ukraine War, I think he’s got that right even if some of his other views have been bizarre. He was right about the foolishness of invading Iraq for non-existant WMDs, and likely right about Ukraine as all the historical pieces, of why this war began, fit.

        I wish he was wrong, but short of US direct intervention on the ground, Russia will win what it really wanted while the West is still declaring it’s losing. It’s also the first chink in the petro-dollar with India and other nations continuing to buy Russian energy. The Russian Oligarchs, without their money, cannot force Putin out so US-directed sanctions do him a favor. It’s a crazy world with even more crazy, “leaders”.

          I have a lot of respect for Westman as an Anti-Jihadist, but the implication that the Russian Oligarchs are poised to oust Putin makes little sense, nor the idea that all it would take to oust him is money.

    Seriously though, he talks of the “human race.” Yes, there is only one human race but human beings have developed varying physical differences because of adaptions the human body has made over thousands of years caused by environmental difference in the world. His bodily adaptations make him better suited to live in certain areas of the Earth. Anyone who can’t adjust to a new environment should remain in the environment for which they are best suited. I think everyone would be happier that way.

    I care more about my family than I do my next door neighbors. I care more about my children than I do about my cousins and their kids. It’s a natural thing. And, what is more, afghanistan, syria, and yemen have gotten quite a lot of attention in recent years.

    As for ethiopia, it has long been a country on the *brink* of famine, has been suffering famine, and that leads to sickness. People can only think about such things so much before there is emotional overload. He should just go home and spend some of his own money….probably gets a bundle…to help “his” people, instead of expecting others to do it.

    If the U.S. government, and other governments ignore what is happening in nigeria, it’s not that difficult to see that less attention is focused on ethiopia than on a possible nuclear confrontation and conflagration of the earth.

He probably only got the job, in these times of identity politics, because he has dark skin. He certainly has never displayed much in the way of brain power. Also why is this idiot, in charge of WHO, commenting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It seems to have nothing to do with the sort of issue he should be sticking his nose into. They certainly appoint some ignorant wankers to some of these positions. You do wonder how such people reach their exalted positions.     • In our time, gravenimage, whites are the “bad guys.” This is as stupid and unethical as blacks a century ago being the bad guys here in America under Jim Crow or, even worse, under slavery before the Civil War and the 13th Amendment. Ditto for non-Aztec tribes in the 16th century, the Hutu v. the Tutsi in 1994, the Iroquois v. non-Iroquois, Zulu v. Xhosa, Nazis v. Jews, certainly Muslims v. non-Muslims, the “divine race,” i.e., the Japanese, v. all other humans, et al.

      Virtually all peoples have done wrong against other peoples if given the opportunity, whether based upon a spurious racist assumption, a fallacious ideological assumption (here Islam comes foremost to mind over the longest period of time), a bogus ethnic assumption, a faux gender assumption or whatever. But only the West pioneered the capacity to address in major ways many wrongdoings and apologize for past wrongdoings. But which civilization is easily the most excoriated in our era? Almost exclusively excoriated? Why the West of course.

      All of which betokens what a phony time we live in. There have been many past terrible times but the age we inhabit is arguably the phoniest and most absurd age mankind has ever experienced. I would vote in the affirmative here.

I was saying to a left wing guy who I play golf with, who is the boyfriend of one of my sisters that I can’t understand this gender fluidity garbage and he said that old people like us have always had trouble relating to what the present generation are going on with.           If it goes on long enough, there will be pushback. Just like when someone is bullied and they try to just walk away. If the bullying continues long enough, the end result is pushback, perhaps the bully gets a taste of his own.
          And that is evident by what was written on the money my daughter was given in change. someone is sick enough that they wrote an untruth.

          Certainly, there can be some truth to this–although obviously your sister’s boyfriend, who appears to be roughly the same age, doesn’t appear to have this “problem”.

          But let’s look at this objectively–about 5% of the population is homosexual. Then, let’s assume for the sake of argument that everyone who “identifies” as Transgender is–not a sure thing, but hey–this still makes up just 0.004% of the population–a tiny amount. Yet this is a *huge*, incessant topic now. Clearly this is about politics that go way beyond actual numbers.

          So what is the purpose of this? I think to indicate that being “cisgendered” (actually the sex you were born with) is somehow unnatural and to be questioned. Even being “cisgendered” and attracted to your own gender (Gay) is too mainstream now.

          This sets the stage for undermining *all* norms. Not just questioning them, but invalidating them.

          I think this is politically related, Tim. It serves to undermine all civilized Western values. Even such matters as studying hard, excelling, and being honest or law-abiding can be dismissed as “white supremacist”. *Very* disturbing stuff.

        • gravenimage, those numbers you mention about what a tiny proportion of the population would be transgender type people is the thing i keep wondering about. How in hell’s’ name has this become such a big issue. Of course it has to be that large numbers of left wingers, cultural Marxists, including left wing feminists must be pushing the trans agenda. The way that it is destroying women’s sport is terrible. This is a big issue right now in Australia because Katherine Deves, who is a candidate for the Liberal Party in our upcoming election,and is co-founder of a group called “Save Women’s sport” is being attacked for some kind of tweets which the trans lobby disagree with. But I think that over 90% of the population out here would say that it is totally unfair to have girls and women trying to compete against these trans males. On the blacks saying foul stuff about whites, as in whiteness is a disease and such like crap, you are definitely right. The people involved in this are out to totally tear apart our way of life. On my sister’s boyfriend, they have a daughter who is in her early twenties and doing well academically and I can imagine that, being brought up as left winger, she is probably part of the university scene where this gender bullshit is all the rage. So he was probably thinking about her when he said that to me. I only very occasionally meet her, but I can just imagine the crap she would believe. She is going to study history (no doubt left wing type history) at an American University later this year. To me, and many other people I’m sure, this world has gone crazy in many ways. We also have politicians and bureaucrats who can’t say what a woman is. Absolutely unbelievable nonsense.

        • Tim, as you note, most of the people pushing the “Trans” thing are not Trans (or do not “identify” as Trans).

          One of the worst things is the “cancelling” of Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who is *anything” but anti-Gay or bigoted. I think the savage putdown of her was to show opponents that *no one* who has the slightest qualms about this “narrative” can escape.

        • I agree with what you say about J K Rowling. From what i recall, I think she simply said, in a common sense way, what a woman is. I wonder if she will be published again. I suppose she will have to use a nom de plume. I think that is the term from the tiny bit of French I can remember. Out here in australia, we had politician, a conservative named Alex Antic (I think that is right) asking various high up bureaucrats and even a doctor who is way up at the top of the Health Department to give a definition of a woman, and they all squirmed and said they couldn’t say as it is contentious territory these days or some such term. It was absolutely nuts and pathetic. Rowan Dean, on the “Outsiders” program said what cowards they all are, afraid of facing some backlash.

    How much money has Ethiopia paid to support the UN?
    Funny how these backward countries always blame the whites for their standard of living. They quickly forget that most of the aid and aid organizations where created by white people to try and help the people around the world. Their vary leaders all too often got fat off the foreign aid at the cost of their own citizens.

    Why should we be concerned about the people of Ethiopia or any other country, seems like their only concern about Americans is how to get more of our tax dollars. Maybe it’s time to stop all this foreign aid, it doesn’t seem to be accomplishing anything except for lining pockets of crooked politicians and aid agencies.

    I vote to spend our TAX DOLLARS on problems in America and closing our borders to non-legal immigration.
