Leftist insanity is at play yet again. The Left’s cancel culture is now obliterating the very markers of the important strides made by the West.

Canceling history does nothing to correct the wrongs in it, and sets up an adverse scenario for generations to come, since humans learn from past mistakes, or at least should do so. As the old adage goes, one who does not remember history is doomed to repeat it.

No group in the world except woke Westerners is busy canceling their own history, or tweaking it with lies.

While slavery of blacks by Muslims quietly continues in Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Mauritania and elsewhere, the Left is silent about it, which shows that they really do not advocate for equal and human rights for all.

In the latest effort from British institutions to cancel British history, National Museum Wales (NMW) has declared that the use of steam trains is “rooted in colonialism and racism”.

National Museum Wales (Amgueddfa Cymru) owns a to-scale replica of Richard Trevithick’s steam-powered locomotive, which debuted in 1804 when it replaced a team of horses. It pulled a train nearly ten miles along the tramway of the Penydarren Ironworks — a groundbreaking achievment widely perceived to be “ahead of its time”.

However, the Welsh government-sponsored NMW has now pledged to “explore how the slave trade linked and fed into the development of the steam and railway infrastructure in Wales” as they conduct a woke audit their collection — which could lead to the placement of a disclaimer next to their engine replica dubiously connecting it to the slave trade.

While NMW —  which runs the National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon National Wool Museum, National Slate Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, and National Waterfront Museum — has admitted they can not prove “direct links between the Trevithick locomotive and the slave trade”, they insist that the locomotive is still complicit as “links to slavery are woven into the warp and weft of Welsh society”.

“Trade and colonial exploitation were embedded in Wales’ economy and society and were fundamental to Wales’ development as an industrialised nation”, the museum alleged in an official statement.

It is unclear how this relates to the Cornish inventor Trevithick, who has no personal links to slavery, and while some investors in the railroad were slave owners there is no evidence to suggest that they were connected to Trevithick, The Telegraph reports….

There is no break on stupidity among fascists, because they dont believe in the truth or standards, so whoever protests is nothing more than A fool sacrificing themselves for nothing.     • Steam engines are actually coal-powered: you have burning coal boiling steam which is used to convert that power into motion that drives the train. It falls under that newly invented woke genre called ‘environmental racism’

        • You mean the slave owners employed slaves to plant sugarcane/sugarbeet, and after the produce was made, that same sugar ended up giving them diabetes and other related diseases? I think that compensates for sugar being white!

      • Did you know – the East India Company is now owned by an Indian, and that company’s main brand is selling gourmet food items. Finally, it’s reverted to its original mission – as a trading, as opposed to a colonial entity

    • I am disappointed to see RS whom I normally respect, using misleading sensationalist headlines in his pieces. The story is about the Welsh museum, maybe, placing a notice next to a model, not a train but a model of the train. It is not ‘cancelling steam trains’. The British love their steam trains and there are several short stretches of line with operating trains in various parts of the country. These are very popular and I have travelled on two of them myself. There is a also a very large museum in York and many others. This can easily be found by Googling Railway Museums in UK

  2. The nearest steam trains ever came to slavery would have related to the appalling conditions that British workers were subjected to in the 18th. and 19th century coal mines. But it wouldn’t surprise me to find that the idiots behind this move probably thought coal grew on trees.

    • Jayell, your pretty close to the truth, the worst conditions were in the Welsh coal mines and all this poverty came about as a result of the British and European aristocracy system, which is still in place in England.
      We only have to look at the protected fools who are running the UK into the dirt.

    When “properly” viewed EVERYTHING qualifies. I hope they stop before they “cancel” roast beef and Yorkshire pudding..

  5. This is absolutely nuts. Steam trains merely represent a technological advance which was made in western countries. Such advances were great progress for humanity. All this endless crapping on our western civilisation and its achievements and seeing nothing but evil in the achievements of western scientists (as in that it’s all only about “colonialism” and “racism”) is moronic. The pathetic surrender merchants who make these decisions need to get a backbone. Their gutlessness is astounding.

      • Yes, gravenimage, this endless putting down of the great achievements of western civilisation, including the great strides made in science and technology, which has benefited all mankind, and helped to raise living standards everywhere, is beyond a joke. These achievements should be celebrated, but instead, these days, many people seem to want to spend all their time apologising and feeling ashamed about everything that western countries have achieved.

    • Damn good question, Kepha. In fact, it has often been noted that the superior rail system in the North was at least a certain factor in the Union winning the Civil War–and being able to free the slaves in the US.

    Well, this is *just bizarre*. No, steam trains are not rooted in colonialism and racism.

    In fact, all of the earliest trains were developed in places where there was no slavery. It wasn’t until the 1830s that a train ran in a place where there was slavery–in Baltimore in the US–and this train ran north, not south.

    By the time the railroads reached Africa, mostly the only slavery still in existance was Muslim slavery–it had already been abolished in most of the West.

    Early trains such as Trevithick’s were mostly linked to mining, coal, and factories–none of which had *anything* to do with slavery.

    Moreover, Wales itself had almost nothing to do with slavery—-not since the early middle ages, certainly, long before the invention of railways. And this had nothing to do with African slavery–this is not just unearned guilt, but false “history”.

    Moreover, every train today, including electric and diesel trains, as *derived* from steam trains. Will they have to “cancel” all trains as “racist”?

  9. Now that’s a stretch. This obsession with colonialism and slavery is really every bit as evil as slavery itself. Actually it is just another type of slavery – slavery of the mind that keeps us stuck in the past. Some people enslaved other people a long time ago. It’s over now. So who ended slavery? Concentrate on that. Then be like those people and move on to something else.

They enslaved more people, white & black than any other group or nation and if it were not for heroic effort and cost of the British and other white people, the African slave trade would have continued well into the 20th century. (in some places in Africa it does continue)
    When are some Africans going to be cancelled? If it weren’t for them, the slave catchers the slave trade would not have been nearly as lucrative and would have crippled the Atlantic slave trade.

    These are ridiculous ill informed virtue signalers. If they feel so strongly, they could fight against current slavery instead of easy century old targets.
    Should Britain be asking Rome for compensation? LOL we’re not so foolish or vindictive..

    After-all, mozlums, according to mozlums, invented everything . And everyone ever born was, according to mozlums, born mozlum.

    Then all would be hunky-dory and no problem as the mozlums **still** have slaves and encourage slavery of young women for sex.

  13. Taking into consideration that the modern world we live in today was invented and created mainly by Caucasian Men therefore according to the SJW snowflake brigades of today all of the modern world is rooted in slavery, colonialism and should be cancelled.
    A couple of years ago a young black female on a US Campus was screaming, and I do mean screaming, that ”ALL white men should be kicked off the Internet and not allowed to use it”… I hope at least one of her Far Left WHITE Professors informed that silly wee lassie just who it was that invented the Internet and who it was that ”allowed” her to use it..
    I guess ya just cant fix stupid..
    Did I mention she was a Student attending a University?.
