Dianne Feinstein Is a Lot Older Than You Think, and It’s Starting to Show

Hunter Biden is just the tip of the iceberg: it’s lucrative to be a politician today, even if your father isn’t playing the role of president of the United States. There are innumerable ways in which our elected representatives can grow rich while doing the bidding of some powerful group, all perfectly legal: astronomical advances for books that hardly anyone will read, similarly inflated speaking fees, and much more. What was once known as the public service has become so remunerative that it’s no wonder that politicians are clutching to power as they never have before in American history. Washington is now top-heavy with the Geritol set, and it doesn’t look as if that’s going to change anytime soon. But the talk around the nation’s capital Thursday is that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Beijing) is in the throes of a cognitive decline so severe as to make Old Joe Biden look as sharp as a tack, and that’s no malarkey, Jack.

The San Francisco Chronicle wrote Thursday: “When a California Democrat in Congress recently engaged in an extended conversation with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, they prepared for a rigorous policy discussion like those they’d had with her many times over the last 15 years. Instead, the lawmaker said, they had to reintroduce themselves to Feinstein multiple times during an interaction that lasted several hours.” Dagnabbit, Chron, “they” refers to a group, not to an individual, but nowadays when women can get other women pregnant, grammar is the least of our worries.

The Chronicle is shocked at the decline of “a pioneer to many admiring San Franciscans who have watched her for decades,” but its shock is as misplaced as its pronouns. After all, Dianne Feinstein is 88 years old. What would be surprising would be if she weren’t in cognitive decline. Her mental unfitness is perfectly understandable; what is hard to understand here is her continued presence in the Senate.

Remember Evel Knievel, the daredevil motorcyclist who jumped over thirteen double-decker buses in London in 1975, that is, 47 years ago? Dianne Feinstein is five years older than Evel Knievel. Remember Dennis Hopper, who played a troubled youth in Rebel Without A Cause 67 years ago and then shot to stardom in Easy Rider 53 years ago? Dianne Feinstein is three years older than Dennis Hopper. Remember Roger Maris, who broke Babe Ruth’s home run record with 61 homers in 1961, 61 years ago, and passed away 37 years ago, in 1985? Dianne Feinstein is one year older than Roger Maris.

The astronomer Carl Sagan, who became a pop-culture fixture with his hit series Cosmos and his much-parodied ruminations on stars “billions and billions” of light-years away? Carl Sagan died at age 62 in 1996, 26 years ago. Dianne Feinstein is older than Carl Sagan.

  1. It is still possible to be clear thinking and competent at higher ages, witness Donald Trump. In the past some very good leaders were also older, like Reagan, Churchill, Eisenhower. The problem is when the parties purposely choose leaders they know are no longer competent, as well as leaders they know are corrupt, unscrupulous and have bad intentions or lack the will to do the right thing.

  5. It seems that all our influential politicians are “billions and billions” of years old. Brain dead Biden, Moldy Mitch McConnell, Pathetic Nancy Pelosi, Nitwit Jerry Nadler, Gross Chuck Grassley, Shit for Brains Chuck Schumer, And that complete embarrassment Hank Johnson who thought that too many soldiers on the island of Guam would make that island capsize.

    This country is doomed. There are no 2 ways around that fact. Just be thankful that, even though old as dirt, you can still pronounce our loser politicians’ names. So far, no Mohammeds. or bin whatever. It won’t be long for that either.

  6. Back in 2014 in New Hampshire I had the opportunity to speak to a Harvard professor whose primary physiological research was on Alzheimer’s. He told me that 40% of people over 85 will get Alzheimer’s and this doesn’t account for other types of dementia.

    I also asked him if there were any preventive measures that could be taken to ward off mental diminution as we age and he replied that the best anyone can do in this regard from early age onwards is to regularly engage in aerobic exercise. When I told him I had been a runner since my teens (I estimate by now, and I’m 70, I’ve covered some 60,000 running miles) he said that there was nothing better I could have done to diminish my chances of getting different types of dementia—based on what is known so far he added.

    Per many studies, less than 25% of Americans get enough exercise. Less than 15% engage in vigorous exercise on a regular basis (e.g., swimming laps, running, cycling, rowing, etc.). For the record and all that.

    As far as Feinstein is concerned, she is more gone than Biden and he’s gone enough. How selfish of people to stick around in government so long. This was NOT what the Founding Fathers intended. But then there is much going on in American government that the Founding Fathers did not intend and that is a major reason why America has as many problems and difficulties as it does (Leftists taking over the educational system is most certainly another major reason).

    One last matter: I am NOT for term limits and here’s why: If term limits are imposed for politicians then the unelected civil bureaucracy, which is arrogant and powerful enough already, will become even more powerful (and arrogant). So, I say to those for term limits, be careful what you wish for because you might get it. If only politicians wouldn’t think themselves so damn indispensable and be so corrupt, but I am aiming at an ideal here though there is nothing wrong with aiming at ideals. One should, I think, live their entire life with such aims.

      Absolutely 100% true.

      Swimming seems to work the best for me – nearly every day laps for 20-30 minutes.

      And one should cognitively challenge themselves every single day.

      • James, in agreement with you again. I cognitively challenge myself virtually every single day by figuring out how to best combat the monumental and destructive idiocy which is modern Western Leftism (the malevolency which is Islam as well and why I post regularly at JW).

        As an example, every time I think the Left can’t go any lower, they surprise me by asserting that 6-year olds in New Jersey should be taught about “boy parts” and “girl parts” even though some who have such parts might be “the other” nonetheless. This is pure child abuse and one knows this or should know it. The idiot who is Governor Murphy doesn’t know this nor do the NJ teacher unions.

        The Left never leaves me with “issues,” all of them more or less idiotic, none more so than ruining the innocence of childhood by way of a distorted, despicable and highly warped agenda—and inflicted on children no less.

        Unless a massive rising against this destruction of the innocence of childhood is raised by all clear-thinking adults, then such “clear-thinking” alone is useless. Not enough to know where the truth lies. What also is necessary is to combat those who are opposed to clear-thinking, common sense, moral intelligence, et al. Yep, major combat time. The Left has asked for this and they deserve a devastating response.

        When good people stand by in the face of iniquity, evil will prevail. My God, I’m an agnostic and I know this. Where are all the Christians in our time? I know many such Christians are in the forefront of dealing with the rot which is rotting our society but not near enough Christians are. Not nearly enough.

        America is a nation built upon the best of classical civilization, Judeo-Christian civilization and British civilization. Unless we realize this as a whole, all will be lost. It’s already semi-lost.

    • Sadly, Wellington, most of the candidates that have challenged Feinstein, or at least talked about it, are *far* worse then she is politically.

    • My wife and I used to run 10k’s in our thirty’s. Many of them.

      Now, at 71–with two “new” knees–it’s cycling, which is just fine.

  7. there are some companies which make people retire when they reach a certain age…no matter how well they can do the job. At least, there once were…that may have changed due to “rights” laws.

    It is against the U.S. employment law to discriminate against a person on the basis of age, once they reach 40 years. If you apply for a job and they won’t hire based on the fact that you are old…in their eyes…then there is legal recourse.

    But, if one can no longer do the job he was hired…and pols are *hired*…to do, then it’s time to call it quits.
    It’s arrogant to believe that one is as clear of thought at 88 as was the case at any earlier age. The brain ages and develops problems…just as knees, eyes, ears, and other body parts do.

    difi should call it a day and not run again…perhaps she should resign and allow someone else to take her seat. But, she’s hardly likely to do that as she seems to be a very arrogant and selfish old biddy.(pardon the use of the term)

      With some rare exceptions (mandatory retirement for airline pilots at age 65), age and of itself should not figure into employment decisions.

      According to the ADA, as long as a person can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, that’s all that should matter.

  8. As I’ve mentioned before, when your brain turns to mush you don’t know your brain has turned to mush. No doubt in her own mind she thinks she is a sharp as she ever was – and if an event occurs that gives her reason to think otherwise, she immediately forgets it.

    It’s up to the voters to make the decision about who represents them. The people of California have the leaders in office that they deserve. It’s too bad those of us in other states have to put up with their bad decisions. My only consolation is that nothing lasts forever – not old decrepit leaders nor even the stupid people who elect them.

    Damn, sometimes life is depressing. And I’m getting old myself – not sure anymore if that’s good or bad.

      To your point, my wife and I have had to take the car keys away from my mother-in-law. She has moderate dementia confirmed by a board-certified neurologist.

      It has been explained to her – kindly and repeatedly – the reasons why she cannot drive but she soon forgets the reasons.

      Now when she asks why she can’t drive we tell her this:

      You can’t drive because you can’t remember why you can’t drive.

      • I had to deal with my father’s dementia myself. I can look back now and see that it was happening to him a long time before any of us realized it. His poor memory just seemed to be a minor annoyance until the day he asked me to help him find his car. He had stopped driving a few months before but we had not sold his car yet. It was parked in the driveway just out of his view and when I showed it to him he was satisfied – for about 15 minutes. This went on from sundown until sunup the next day – all night long every 15 minutes or so he would ask me to help him find his car; then I would have him look out the window to see it and be satisfied. Before that night I had thought I could care for both him and my mother myself but this completely exhausted me and I knew I could not do it. I would have to place him in a nursing home. It was one of the worst days of my life – in some ways even worse than the day he actually died.

        I’m truly sorry to hear your mother-in-law is slipping away from you and your wife in this way. It’s heartbreaking to see someone you love being there and not being there at the same time. The good thing is that I don’t believe my father suffered any pain during the worst of it (that he remembered for very long anyway) – but I’m not sure. May the Good Lord give you and your wife the strength to endure what is to come.

        There will also come a day when it will be undeniable to everyone that Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden will be standing there and yet will not be there at all. That day for each of them too is not far off. Sad thoughts for a Good Friday.

        • All of you guys have my sympathy. Losing a parent, slowly like your experiences, or quickly, is one of the worst things that happens in this life.

        • So sorry to hear about your father, CogitoErgoSum. Sadly both my mother and my husband’s mother developed dementia in their late 80s.

        • Yes, losing a parent to dementia is awful and even though I have made and probably will continue to make critical comments about Biden and his lack of good sense, I do in some ways feel sorry for him. He should have retired from politics when his time as Vice President was up. Now he is nothing more than a puppet whose strings are being pulled by others and he will go down in history as the worst U.S. President ever. It’s a shame for him and for our country. I feel sadness about what is happening but anger also. God help us to get through his time left in office.

    Sad to hear if so. Feinstein is actually much saner than a lot of the newer crop of Dems, though, whatever her current cognitive condition.
