Hating America is de rigueur on the Left these days. Everyone’s doing it. Why shouldn’t the VOA join in? But this rot in the very institutions that should be protecting and defending the nation will one day eat its way all the way through.

In light of Voice of America News’ (VOA) failure to respond to dozens of FOIA requests over alleged pro-Islamic bias in its Persian reporting, the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) filed a lawsuit last week accusing VOA of withholding communications that demonstrate the broadcasting service’s role in disseminating “messages opposed to American interest.”
The American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a political watchdog group that investigates and reports on bureaucratic overreach that impacts constitutional liberties, shared its complaint against the U.S. government-funded international radio broadcaster and news outlet with Breitbart News on Sunday.
In it, Voice of America (VOA), an independent arm of the U.S. government, is accused of failing to respond to nearly 60 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests throughout an investigation into allegations that VOA was “amplifying anti-American and pro-Islamist reporting” targeting both Iranians in the region as well as Iranian-Americans.
“Voice of America and the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) have a history of pushing partisan propaganda and manipulating the visa system to benefit shady foreign nationals,” said AAF founder Tom Jones in a statement to Breitbart News.
“Now, while using American taxpayer dollars, they are openly violating FOIA rules to shield their bad behavior from the public,” he added….
AAF alleges in its lawsuit that locals in the Middle East have raised concerns that “VOA has been infiltrated by anti-American, pro-Islamic state interests, and that the message of VOA had been compromised in a manner that was biased toward the Islamic state factions in Iran.”…
In a statement to Breitbart News, Iranian advocacy group Iranian Americans for Liberty (IAL) threw its support behind the lawsuit….

I had to read this headline twice to make sure it said what I thought it did.
So now even the *Voice of America*–a lifeline for many yearning for freedom behind the Iron Curtain–is anti-American and pro-Islamist.
Kudos to the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) for taking a stand here.

Somehistory, I can remember when the Academy Awards were actually about the greatness of film–this was true even when the best movies didn’t always win. They were also generally a great deal of fun.
Not so of late–the Oscars have become an orgy of joyless “political correctness”.
But now the most memorable moment in this year’s Oscars is some thug slapping a guy who made a joke probably better suited to a roast than the Academy Awards.
If I needed to remember why I haven’t seen the Oscars for the past several years, and sadly didn’t much enjoy it for several years before that, this appalling incident was enough to remind me.

yes, what he did at the ceremony was thuggish and should be prosecuted for the “assault” that it was, but it won’t be.

And this at the Oscars was worse than I had initially thought–Will Smith wasn’t on stage with Chris Rock; he was in the audience. He initially laughed at the joke, then saw that Jada was not laughing, ran onto the stage and slapped Rock, then repeatedy cursed at him. He had time to think about this, and still acted like a thug.
Then, having had even more time to think about his actions, when receiving the award in his acceptance speech he doubled down on his actions, describing them as something God called him to do. He also implied that Rock was threatening the young actresses who played the Williams girls in the film, which is of course absurd.
He claims he was “protecting” his wife–but he was just “protecting” her from–what? A mildly off-color joke?
He also describes his thuggish actions as his being “a vessel for love”.
This whole thing is disgusting. The joke set a bit of low note, but the violent response is what really crossed the line. Telling people that it is OK–even “godly”!–to initiate violence against someone who did not assault him is appalling.
Smith should have been *asked to leave* after assaulting the host.
The Academy Awards have been on a downward slide for quite a while, but this is the worst.

“[VOA is] targeting … Iranian-Americans.” I thought VOA was prohibited from broadcasting to Americans. Has the law been changed? Why does the Cold War relic VOA still exist? Because government agencies never die?
How can we listen to VOA? Do we need a short-wave radio? Can VOA be heard/read online?

Ha! I figured that they were pro islamists, anti American, about a year or two again. I had suscribed to their newsletter, and before long, I could see it in almost every article. Then I just had to unsubscribe from their newsletter…I couldn’t take it anymore…it started getting sickening! And maddening!
So yup, glad that someone else see’s what it is! But one question….what took ya so long to see it, and report on it? lol…
