Most Americans think that Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump were still president. And now from the frying pan into the fire: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is pleading with the terror-financing Qatar to bring stability to Europe by increasing its oil output, in efforts to counter Russia.
Since 2017, Qatar has faced boycotts “from several neighboring countries over its alleged support of extremism, a move initiated by Saudi Arabia. Since then, ties between Doha and Ankara have become increasingly close.” Like Turkey, Qatar supports the Muslim Brotherhood, and the two countries both have ambitions in Libya. “From Qatar’s perspective, Libya is a country where it can confront Saudi Arabia indirectly and hamper its plans.” Both countries seek a Muslim Brotherhood regime in Tripoli, and so both of their defense ministers have just “signed a military agreement with the Muslim Brotherhood Government in Tripoli.” Part of that agreement involved setting up a military training camp to train Muslim Brotherhood troops. For years, Qatar has demonstrated consistent and vocal support for the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, which is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Some other problems with Qatar:
- The Washington Post has admitted that the Qatar Foundation used Jamal Khashoggi’s columns to spread propaganda.
- Last year, Qatar was discovered to be behind statements from American universities that were hostile to Israel.
- Qatar actually funds Hamas, al Qaeda and Hizballah.
Recall during the final Presidential debate, the “green” Biden defiantly pledged:
I would transition away from the oil industry, yes. The oil industry pollutes, significantly. It has to be replaced by renewable energy over time. Over time.
America under Biden is ineffective and unreliable. The clueless Biden administration continues to spiral downward, dragging America behind it, while Western countries become more dependent on Islamic countries for oil. Some of those very countries have been long engaged in a stealth subversion of those Western countries.
“Zelenskyy urges Qatar to boost gas output to counter Russia,” Al Jazeera, March 26, 2022:
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Qatar, a world leader in the export of natural gas, to boost its output to counter what he called the Russian “threat” to use energy as a weapon.
In a surprise appearance at Doha Forum international conference on Saturday, the Ukrainian president called on energy-producing countries to step in so that Moscow cannot use its oil and gas wealth to “blackmail” other nations.
“They can do much to restore justice. The future of Europe depends on your effort,” Zelenskyy said in the first such address to a Gulf nation since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
“I ask you to increase the output of energy to ensure that everyone in Russia understands that no country can use energy as a weapon and blackmail the world,” he told in translated comments to the audience.
Earlier, Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani told the Doha Forum his country stands in solidarity with the people affected by what he called the “unjust war” in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said gas-rich countries such as Qatar could make a contribution to the stabilisation of Europe, which imports more than one-third of its energy supplies from Russia.
Germany has committed to building two huge terminals to receive liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar, the Gulf state said last week after a visit by German ministers.
The monthlong invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Europe’s top gas supplier, has sharpened concerns of disruption to energy supplies and increased scrutiny of European Union countries’ reliance on imported fossil fuels.
Al Jazeera’s Jamal Elshayyal, reporting from Doha, said Zelenskyy’s address was not announced to be part of the programme, probably because the organisers also wanted to bring in the Russian side.
“Zelenskyy used the opportunity to address over dozen world leaders participating at the forum to further press them to take stronger action in putting an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” Elshayyal said from the annual Doha Forum….
Doomer says
Qatar has said it won’t send liquefied gas to Europe. Even if it could, the cost would be like 10 times expensive that what Russian gas costs, according to Alex Christoforu,
who knows a lot about economics.
Doomer says
I am glad the comment passed through,I had made several replies to replies in other posts, but they never made it, even after trying again.
When you listen to the youtubers who know about the economics of this (Alex Christoforou, Alex Mercouris, who also have another channel, together, “The Duran”),
even Richard Medhurst ( who seems to know about it all):
1. In 2 DAYS, Russia will cut off gas to Europe. Except for Serbia,I guess Bulgaria and Macedonia also. There the people ,not the government, the people are very RUSSOPHILE.
2. It has to be in rubles. The EU ( 30 nations) said No.
3. Russia supplies 40% of Europe’s gas for electricity, heating. For its factories.
4. The US will send Europe liquefied gas, but:
a. There are ONLY 50 ships in the entire world that are capable of transporting it.
b. 5 are available now, maybe 3 can be added. In total 8 for all of Europe.
Even 50 ships are NOT enough.
c. Europe has RESERVES but like 90% of the countries have only 15% of the reserve gas left. Germany has the highest amount, like 28% of its reserve is still there.
The reserve gas would last like 1 MONTH.
d. Even if the US makes 1,000 ships in 1 month: the price of liquefied gas would be 10 times More than Russian gas. Food, transport, everything in Europe will be 2,3,4,5 times more expensive in less than 6 months.
By the way,I know Rania,Medhurst,Galloway, Dore are anti-Israel to an absurd illogical degree, but their antiwar arguments coincide with that of others who are not Israel-haters.
CogitoErgoSum says
I think Putin knows that Ukraine has the highest untapped reserve of natural gas in Europe and he and his oligarchs want to keep it out of the hands of the West.
CogitoErgoSum says
Oh, Joe Biden knows this too – as does his son, Hunter.
CogitoErgoSum says
Hunter knows all about oil and natural gas (or he would not have been on the board for a gas company, maybe?) and Hunter must surely have told his father a few of the things he knows – even if his father forgets things sometimes. But if there’s one thing Joe Biden knows it’s that his son is the smartest man he knows.

………….
Doomer, their views are not “anti-war”–far from it. Most of these thugs are very supportive of Russia having invaded Ukraine.
Michael says
Excellent summary, although IMO the impact of an unleavened diet of LNG will be to increase costs by double figure percentages, not treble figure.
With Nord Stream 2 on-line Russia would supply ca 48% of Europe’s gas. See the Daily T Business of 9 March = adding more faggots to our funeral pyre.
Infidel says
Even aside from the costs, look at the countries that would need to sign off on this to allow the pipeline to run through them: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey, at least. Or they’d have to run them to Israel, and from there, ship them to whichever country buys them
I don’t fault Ukraine for overlooking jihad, when they are in the middle of a war w/ their Russian brethren
Doomer says
I was thinking of that. Infidel, but checking a bit it turns out Qatar exports mostly LIQUEFIED gas ( LNG, liquefied natural gas):
1.Which is more expensive than Russian gas.
2. Unlike the Russian gas,the PRICE of any LNG is unstable,it can be 50% more expensive the next day.
As Alex Mercouris and Alex Christoforou have pt out several times:
a. Russia has NOT applied any economic sanctions YET in response to the Full-Scale Sanctions a month ago
( SWIFT connection cut off, Mastercard and Visa too, all the Western companies left Russia ( Macdonalds, Netflix, pornhub, etc)
b. It has continued to supply gas to Europe except that now it only wants to be paid in rubles.
c. The US and Europe thought that the economic sanctions would topple Putin by producing HYPER-inflation. Yet the ruble has recovered,I think by 80%.
d. They have pointed out that in 2014 similar sanctions were made, because Russia took Crimea. It was even worse then. And Putin learned from 2014 and prepared. SWIFT and Mastercard and Visa have already been replaced by equivalent services.
Mastercard and Visa by MIR (world). Negociations are in place for IRAN and VENEZUELA (both allies of Russia and with vast oil reserves)
to replace their Mastercard and Visa with MIR (after all, they are both suffering from sanctions).
Experts are saying we are at a historic moment, the End of the PETRODOLLAR. The US is 31 TRILLION dollars in debt, when the value of the dollar diminishes
the quality of life in America will go down crashing.
It is the fault of American and European LEFTISTS with their fanaticism ( LBGT promotion,Critical race theory, gender ideology,
white privilege, microaggressions, etc) in imposing all that on the rest of the world. They rule the governments in Western Europe and the US.
And even OTHER Leftists ( the Chinese,Vietnamese,North Koreans) can’t stand them: there are Leftists and Leftists. The Chinese communist government is AGAINST
LBGT promotion,Critical race theory, gender ideology,
white privilege, microaggressions, etc imposed on their people.
WESTERN Leftists have shown themselves to be utterly UNRELIABLE, they lie and intrigue all the time. That is WHY a NEW
economic bloc is rising, where nations will trade WITHOUT using the EURO and DOLLAR.
Why?
So as NOT to be under the danger of economic sanctions by the West ( which are based on the power of the euro and dollar).
For example,Russia recently said that if necessary and it was the best for the other country it was willing to trade with a friendly nation ( like Serbia) in
BITCOIN or in the OTHER nation’s NATIONAL CURRENCY.
SALVADOR became the first country to allow consumers to use the cryptocurrency BITCOIIN in all transactions, alongside the US dollar.
It is practical.
mortimer says
Another opportunity for Hunter the Bribed-man to collect massive BRIBES for the Bribed-man Crime Family headed by ‘The Big Guy’.
gravenimage says
Bitcoin is basically a scam. Not really “practical” for most purposes.
Infidel says
Actually, Graven, Bitcoin is the only cancel-proof crypto-currency there is. If one gets Etherium or any of those other cryptos that actually have financial companies behind them, be it Goldman or Merrill or any of the others, those companies still have the same sort of power as GoFundMe to yank one’s money. Bitcoin doesn’t have any central authority, which is why it’s actually a favorite of people who’ve been cancelled by Woke Corporate America
The other thing – like some have noticed – is that quietly, the US dollar is being dropped as a must-use currency, particularly for oil. Saudi Arabia started talks w/ China for using Remenbi for their transactions, India has a Rupee-Ruble agreement w/ Russia and given what Saudi Arabia is doing, they might press the Saudis as well to allow use of Rupees here as well. And if Iran is back in the market, India was already buying oil using Rupees. Before one knows it, all the other sellers of oil might become just as flexible, and at that point, there is no reason for any country to accumulate dollars
gravenimage says
Infidel, most currencies, even without the gold standard, are roughly based on actual concrete assets–Bitcoin is not, so it fluctuates wildly. And “mining” Bitcoin is completely artificial–it is not based on anything objective at all. Right now it takes about 10 minutes to “mine” one Bitcoin, but this is ompletely arbitrary.
If people want to gamble like this, they have the right to–but unless things change radically, Bitcoin is not going to become a legitimate medium of exchange. The idea that there will only be 21 million Bitcoins is also artifical. Bitcoin and other crypto-currency scams are unsurprisingly rife.
And Russia dropped the dollar not long before invading Ukraine–this is less a statement about the fiscal soundness of the dollar, and more a cynical move to lessen the sting of the sanctions he likely knew were coming.
The dollar is still the most stable widely-used currency. Seeking to replace it with the volitile Bitcoin seems unwise.
gravenimage says
Doomer, El Salvador hopes to make some money processing Bitcoin transactions–this has nothing to do with their considering Bitcoin a stable currency.
Your implication that they have dropped the US dollar and are now just using Bitcoin is mistaken.
And El Salvador has a very low per capita GDP–just a little over $3,000. The implication that they are some sort of trendsetting financial powerhouse is not the case.
There is no doub that the US economy is in trouble, with its ludicrous debt level and inflation under Biden–but it is still a wealthy, productive nation. Tossing that out the window and replacing it with nothing of substance doesn’t seem like a good bet.
Doomer says
Also remember KADDAFI, killed due to an attack by Western powers allied with Islamists in 2011.
1. THEN, Libya’s population of 6 million, due to its oil industry, was living very-well, had a high standard. NO Libyans went to Europe begging for asylum.
2. Kaddafi was president of the AFRICAN UNION: organization of 55 countries,ALL of the African countries.
3. He was trying to replace the currency of commerce among All African Countries: eliminate the Euro and Dollar.
Have a new currency called the African or Gold DINAR.
It is now agreed, that was the reason he was attacked by the West, not because he was a dictator.
gravenimage says
The dictaror you are lauding was also a Jihadist. Remember Lockerbie?
And no–ISIS is not the United States. This was Muslim-on-Muslim jockeying for power.
Infidel says
Yeah, but Gadaffi had reformed, had owned up responsibility, compensated for Lockerbie, dismantled his WMDs and had restored normal relations w/ the West – particularly the US and UK. Overthrowing him was one of the stupidest things done by the Obama administration, and Libya has never been the same since
Essentially, the lesson of the Gadaffi overthrow was to alert all dictators in the world that there was nothing to be gained w/ the West by cleaning up their act, should they choose to do it
gravenimage says
Infidel–with all respect–I don’t think Gadaffi had “reformed”. In fact, the UK released one of the Lockerbie terrorists to Libya because Gadaffi threatened more Jihad if they did not:
“Revealed: Blair and Brown lied — they released Lockerbie bomber because Gaddafi threatened jihad”
https://jihadwatch.org/2011/09/revealed-blair-and-brown-lied-they-released-lockerbie-bomber-because-gaddafi-threatened-jihad
These are not “normal” relations–not among civilized nations, certainly.
The terrorist supposedly been released because he had terminal cancer–and this was not the case at all. He got a hero’s welcome on returning to Libya, was released from custody, and lived on there for many years.
How is this proof of Gadaffi being “reformed”? He didn’t pay reparations–such as they were–because he’d given up Jihad but just because he got caught.
Then, Gadaffi was taken out by his fellow Jihadists. I am *no* fan of Obama, but he is not actually the Misrata Militia. The US is not in power in Libya–instead, it is a mishmash of Jihadists jockeying for power.

To graven:
My great fear is bitcoin will be OUTLAWED in the US and Europe.
Why? To control us financially. We are done for.
As for Kaddafi:
The Libyan disarmament issue was peacefully resolved in December 2003 when Libyan leader Kaddafi agreed to eliminate his country’s weapons of mass destruction program,
including a decades-old NUCLEAR WEAPONS program.
PLUS:
He, being paid for it, but he did it: made sure NO illegal economic migrants passed to Europe via LIBYA.
But the Main Point is this:
1. ANY leader in Africa, even the best and most saintly, spotless one,
who were to try to create a common currency for all the 55 African countries today, an African Euro,
would be OVERTHROWN or ASSASINATED by the West.
2. And if a leader were to try to do the same , create an economic union using one currency ( different from the dollar and euro)
stretching from Mexico,Central America and to all of South America:
the same thing.

Actually, it is places like China and Russia–which you laud–which have moved to outlaw Bitcoin, *not* the United States. Other such nations include Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Iran.

JW, as we approach the WC, (the foot-washing). please keep the spotlight on Qatar: their support of terrorist groups and like-minded political movements.
It was reported by I news? last year that David Amess, (ex chairman of the Westminster ‘Friends of Qatar’) was targeted, because of his links with Qatar. The Mail picked up the story on 30/3/22.
“Qatar has been accused of meddling in Somali politics and of using its power and influence to prop up current President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo
Ali’s uncle Abdi Ali says that they are a ‘very political’ family and aware of Qatar’s involvement in Somalia, which has pushed it towards all out civil war amid growing political and economic turmoil.”
Ali Harbi Ali’s dad held a senior position in a regime opposed to the current President
