The ACLU claims that “just as border officers may not single out Christian Americans to ask what denomination they are, which church they attend, and how regularly they pray, singling out Muslim Americans for similar questions is unconstitutional.”
The ACLU, and the plaintiffs, are completely ignoring the reality of jihad terrorism, and pretending that the questioning these Muslims received was gratuitous and motivated by “Islamophobia.” If Christian Americans had been responsible for 40,000 terror attacks worldwide since 9/11, the ACLU might have a point, but they weren’t, and it doesn’t.
Also, border officers are generally obnoxious. I myself have been stopped and questioned about what makes me think I’m qualified to write and speak about Islamic jihad. As I’m an American citizen and was trying to return to my own country, the questioning was genuinely gratuitous and offensive. Should I have sued? No lawyer would have taken the case. But it is always easy to find attorneys who are eager to ride on the perception of Muslim victimhood.
“3 Muslim Americans sue over religious questioning by border officers, including at LAX,” Associated Press, March 25, 2022:
Three Muslim Americans have filed suit alleging that U.S. border officers questioned them about their religious beliefs in violation of their constitutional rights when they returned from international travel.
The three men, who are from Minnesota, Texas and Arizona, sued Department of Homeland Security officials in a federal court in Los Angeles. The lawsuit was filed in California because some of the questioning allegedly occurred at Los Angeles International Airport.
In the lawsuit, the men say that U.S. border officers at land crossings and international airports peppered them with questions about whether they were Muslim and attended a mosque and how often they prayed.
The American Civil Liberties Union, which is representing the men, said the questioning violated the men’s constitutional rights to freedom of religion and protection against unequal treatment.
“Just as border officers may not single out Christian Americans to ask what denomination they are, which church they attend, and how regularly they pray, singling out Muslim Americans for similar questions is unconstitutional,” the lawsuit said.
It asks a judge to declare that the religious questioning was unconstitutional and to order U.S. government agencies to expunge records containing information obtained through the questioning of the men….
The plaintiffs include Abdirahman Aden Kariye, an imam at a mosque in Bloomington, Minn. The lawsuit said he was questioned about his faith at least five different times when returning to the country between 2017 and 2022.
The repeated questioning caused Kariye stress and led him to stop wearing a Muslim cap known as a kufi and to stop carrying religious texts when he travels internationally, to avoid additional scrutiny, the lawsuit said.
Another plaintiff, Hameem Shah of Plano, Texas, said he was returning in 2019 from a vacation to Serbia and Bosnia when he was pulled aside at LAX for additional screening….
“I thought that being an American meant that I and others are free to practice any religion that we choose,” Shah said in a statement, adding that the airport experience still haunts him.

All of this is “alleged” by people from a school of *belief*…not thought…that says lying is completely acceptable if it furthers the cause of islam and the goal of destroying anything and anyone that does not favor and bow to islam.
And, what about some statute of limitations? Many things that happen to people…such as car accidents, etc. have a very short period of time to file a suit against the one doing the injury.
mozlums are taught to make up stuff…hoaxes and fraud…in order to make monetary gain and put the fear of their fake ‘god’ and fake ‘prophet’ in the hearts of everyone.
i.elmi, alias, i omar, must be so proud of her brothers in the scummy dross of islam, the worship of a mass-murdering, raper of children, lying son of satan, filthy sack of feculent matter.
These three *males*…refuse to label them “men,” are hoping to make sure they are never questioned again about their reasons for traveling to countries where terrorism is taught and practiced daily, and to help other mozlum terrorists to make gain. And, they hope to put some money in their filthy pockets.

Of course, these individuals have proof that they were harassed at the border crossings?
Or is this simply a co ordinated effort to stop any investigation of people crossing into the country if they are mudslimes?
somehistory says
My guess is, if they had “proof” and not just the claims, they would have filed suit long before this.
Keith O says
My thoughts exactly.

……………….
Yeah–can’t have the ‘filthy Infidels’ asking if Muslims plan to Islamize our nation or wage violent Jihad against us–that would be “Islamophobic”…

No, Bunky, the operative word is practice.
Yes, you can pray five times a day, but not in a manner that infringes on the rights of others here–in the middle of the road as an example.
No matter how keen you are to “provide” for 4 wives, polygamy is not legal here.
No, beating your wives is not an acceptable practice here.
No, your religious culture does not give pedophilia a pass here.
No, your 20 something daughter does not have to wear what you want her to or accept an arranged marriage with a cousin here.
No, blaspheming Islam is not a crime here.
Etc.

Spot on, PRCS.

Killing someone who criticizes Islam or it’s founder is demanded in Islamic texts, is a crime here, and those who believe it shouldn’t be allowed into the country.

I was just thinking about how I would feel if people would stop me at random and ask me about my religious beliefs. I’m not sure I’d be all that upset. In all of my over 70 years of life it’s never happened to me – unless you count the guys in white shirts, black neckties and black pants who come knocking on my door handing out a pamphlet called “The Watchtower.” I used to enjoy talking to those guys about my views on religion but they don’t come around anymore. Now I wonder if they are avoiding me.
CogitoErgoSum says
Here something that just struck me that’s as awesome as thinking about the passage of time: maybe those Muslims being stopped and asked about their religion has something to do with what’s in the written material for their religion – like the Koran. It’s just a thought.
somehistory says
Witnesses handing out the Watchtower don’t all dress like mormons…as you described them. They are allowed to wear whatever colors they wish, and don’t have to conform to black and white.
And, since the “lockdowns” they don’t do much of the going door-to-door.
CogitoErgoSum says
Okay, yeah, that makes sense. They were always polite fellows even when I could see they were getting a little exasperated with me.
somehistory says
they probably had a good feeling though since you were willing to talk to them, as opposed to slamming the door in their faces or turning your dogs loose on them.

CogitoErgoSum, the Mormons–the guys in white shirts and black ties–are a bit different from the Jehovah’s Witnesses handing out the Watchtower. Both can be a bit insufferable at times, but neither group is dangerous as are pious Muslims.
CogitoErgoSum says
Yes, I’m probably confusing Mormons with Jehovah’s Witnesses. I’ve had members from both religions come to my door wanting to talk with me. I’ve never felt intimidated by any of them but I don’t think I’d feel the same way if somebody looking like Osama bin Laden came to my door. Oh no, there I go again … showing how racist and Islamophobic I am. But do I care? No. Nope. Not a bit.

Why there is no summit by liberals when Muslims call for genocide of non muslims repeatedly. But a summit when non-Muslims want to defend themselves from Islamic attacks it becomes a call for Muslim genocide.

Don’t give it publicity is one way to starve it of attention, if not funds. This is the first time I’m reading about it, and I do follow what goes on in both US and India

As a world leader America is finished. Once the fraud Biden gained power with his crew of criminal cronies lining their pockets America descended into a third-world country nobody cares anymore what America says and does in the real world. Roll on Donald or Nicki. In the meantime, America shut the ****-up nobody cares.

I think as a general rule the facts show Christians and other faiths don’t make it a part of their belief system to blow up civilian planes with planting bombs and directing
suicide bombers on them.
This excusing of the warlike nature of tge Islamic religion cannot be excused or muted in debate.
