In less enlightened ages than our own, this sort of thing was taken for granted: boys should compete in boys’ sporting events and girls in those set aside for girls. No one thought about boys playing girls’ sports at all, because no boy would have even wanted to do so, but everyone knew that a boy of only average ability would dominate girls’ sports, because of natural physical differences. All this has not exactly been forgotten nowadays; even worse, it has been denounced as “transphobic bigotry.” Everyone today is smarter and wiser than our forbears. We know girls are boys and boys are girls, and boys pretending to be girls and setting women’s sporting records are to be celebrated. Except, that is, in Iowa.
Iowa’s Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds on Thursday signed into law a bill that forbids biological males from playing girls’ sports. Even if some burly fellow insists that he is really a girl, he has to play on the boys’ teams if he is going to play at all. Nowadays, we have to pass laws in order to reassert the truth of what everyone knows, no matter what they may insist to the contrary, and to beat back the fantasies and wishful thinking that dominate the popular culture. Even worse, the Iowa law is certain to be controversial. Those who cling to their woke fantasies won’t give them up without a fight.
According to the Post Millennial, “the law requires athletics programs to be men’s, women’s, or co-ed, and to tailor participation accordingly, based on the sex designated on a person’s birth certificate. This applies at all educational organizations, from elementary school through college.” Schools that get sued will get free legal representation, as will students who might get caught up in the challenges to the new law that are certain to come.
Reynolds positioned the new law as a women’s rights issue, which it is. She was “surrounded by Iowa women’s athletes at the signing, who spoke about how important it is that ‘no girl is sidelined in their own sport.’” Indeed.
As she signed the new law, Reynolds remarked: “Our state has an impressive legacy of advancing women’s equality. As I was first female governor, this aspect of our state’s character fills me with gratitude and pride….The success of these and so many other women demonstrates what I consider a fundamental principle: Great things happen when women have access to the fair and equal playing field they deserve.”

Women athletes have to do that, but when it comes right down to it, we men have to make it blatantly clear we’re ENFORCING that position.
We’ve forgotten it’s our damn job is to protect those physically weaker than us; women children, whoever, and men do that by coming down like a ton of bricks on anybody and anything causing the harm.

Here is a thought, why men want to compete with women is because if they
compete with other men they might lose. But if against women they will win every time.
Girls & women should just walk away from the event leaving the men standing there looking like dick heads.

I agree, Dan. I’m surprised that women and girls haven’t already become organised enough to simply refuse to compete against these transgender athletes. It is a waste of time for women and girls to train hard and compete in unfair contests against the transgender athletes who should compete only against other transgender athletes.

Both students and parents need to bring this nonsense to a halt by making a clear, unified message.
Students should show up for the events and, to expound upon Dan’s post, above, do nothing when the starter’s gun fires.
And parents/boosters/fans should neither attend nor support the events.

PRCS, I hope that there is a fightback against this totally unfair garbage where transgender athletes get to, inevitably, thrash girls and women in athletic events. In Australia, there are a few women beginning to get some opposition to the unfair nonsense started. Not sure how big the movement is so far. There is a Senator out here, I think her name might be Claire Chandler, who is fighting the good fight, and there is another woman, her surname is Deves, I’m pretty sure, who has a movement going for fairness in women’s sport, and she is running in the upcoming election out here. i saw them both interviewed on Sky news recently. I can’t believe how this transgender lobby, with such a small percentage of people in the country’s population who are transgender can wield such power. I find it bizarre. Girls’ and women’s sports will be totally ruined if this crap continues.

Tim, I think it is because women like JK Rowling–the author of the Harry Potter books–is *still* being excoriated as “transphobic” because she thiunks that men competing in women’s sports is a bad idea.
Even publicatiions like Vogue and Glamour have condemned her.

Yes, it’s terrible the pile on, and all the abuse that J K Rowling is copping, gravenimage. I’m sure that anyone who speaks up on this and any other topic will have to expect plenty of vicious abuse from the fascist left. They are vicious crowd. I’m sure that those two women I mentioned up above, who are fighting this nonsense in Australia, must cop plenty of abuse and hatred. But I do believe that the majority of the population would agree that transgender athletes need to be kept out of women’s and girl’s sports. You have to have a thick skin these days to speak up against the prevailing woke bullshit brigade. Maybe a lot of these women who do speak up just ignore social media. Rita Panahi mentions that she gets plenty of hatred directed at her but I think she probably does check it out and laughs at it. She is a very tough, feisty character. I hope these fascists who have pretty much tried to cancel J K Rowling don’t bring her down too much. I could imagine that any future novels she might write won’t get a publisher to publish them.

True, James, about courage being courageous. I suppose because I listen to and watch on Sky News fairly conservative commentators, I do hear from those people about how vicious the left wing brigade are on social media. Especially, from what I hear, conservative women are really attacked in a vicious way. We recently had a conservative woman member of parliament named Nicole Flint who decided she’s had enough of being attacked and actually stalked and intimidated during the last federal election by left wingers and retired from politics at a young age, which brought a bit of attention to the issue.

It is strange, and I think quite illogical, Infidel, the way the feminists, by supporting the transgender athletes, are fighting against women and girls, who can’t win in sporting events against transgender athletes. I’m pretty sure that the movement that the woman I mentioned up above, I’m pretty sure her surname is Deves, has started is called “Save Women’s Sport” and it is a good name because, in most cases, it is going to be hopeless for girls and women to compete against transgender athletes.

It once was true that if a girl wanted to be competing against boys, it was a no…”because girls were not able to play with the boys on boy’s teams” for fears of injury and not being as strong, etc.
Guys fought to keep girls off their teams and out of their clubs due to the major differences in physical attributes.
Now, the guys who want others to believe in their fake claims of being feminine, insist on playing with the girls…most likely for three *reasons*: They can’t compete with the big boys who might squash them, they get major attention for their insistence on playing with the girls and beating them. and they get to go without any hindrance into the girl’s locker rooms and showers and show off who they are while getting some good looks at the girls.
These boys would have, in earlier years, been seen as mentally ill. But it fits an agenda for them to be allowed to pretend now.

If the concept of transgender athletes competing as the gender they claim to be is so fair, then why don’t we hear much about females competing as males?
Is it because this doesn’t happen at all or is it simply because they are not physically capable of beating the males due to the differences in muscle mass etc?

Why don’t sports federations across the board introduce a new category called transgender, and automatically put any trans atheletes into that? Once they do that, there’s no way women’s sports will be so contaminated
Incidentally, it’s worth noting that even the FIDE – the world chess federation – separates out male and female players. One would think that a Garry Kasparov (sorry, I haven’t been following who’s the current world chess champion) would have quite a battle against the world’s #1 female champ
