In Poland, Biden Wants To Be Reagan, But He’s Still Carter

When Biden showed up in Poland, the speechwriters dug through Reagan’s old speeches in the hopes of making him sound Reaganesque.

Too bad generations of speechwriters have already been farming that territory for too long. There were a few resonant unoriginal lines in what was otherwise a rambling and repetitive address that more closely resembled the rhythm of a Brezhnev speech.

What made Reagan speeches compelling wasn’t just words, it was the authoritative delivery and the moral authority behind the words. Reagan had built his political career around speaking things that the political elites didn’t want to be uttered: especially when it came to the Cold War. There was bold moral clarity in Reagan labeling the Soviet Union as evil because for so long the liberal elites had resisted stating the obvious. There’s no great moral triumph in pointing out that Putin is bad and that his invasion of Ukraine is wrong. Even few of Russia’s allies are especially enthralled with defending the move.

There’s no bold moral clarity in restating the popular consensus. Especially when it’s backed by nothing.

Reagan wasn’t in a rush to get into a war with Russia, but he also made it clear that America and the free world wouldn’t be pushed around. Biden has proven quite willing to borrow Reagan’s speeches and to be pushed around by Putin.

Biden is polling as weak on the Ukraine war and so he wants to borrow a little Reagan to sound tough, but despite the borrowing, he still sounds like Carter.

  2. When the doddering ‘Big Guy’ Joey reads Reagan’s words from the teleprompter in a rambling, stumbling manner, it is not convincing because it lacks any conviction. The ‘Big Guy’ has no principles but opportunism and bribes.

Biden’s leadership capabilities were summed up when at the end of his State of the Union speech he proclaimed, “Let’s go get him (or ’em) and everyone looked around asking “Get who?” Yes, he’s a real leader alright. You know your country is at a low point when you hope the rest of the world will ignore what your leader says because he’s losing his mind. My concerns are doubled when I think that Putin may actually be losing his mind also. Let’s hope the two of them have at least as much sense left as Will Smith and Chris Rock and know when to stop with the nonsense.

      Yes, from the movie, but then it followed him through life. When he was seeking to be president, he said it.

      Perhaps biden was mixing things up with his “go get ‘im” or whatever the last word or partial word was…wanting to sound “presidential” and failing because no one “gets him.”

      • Yes, all the world’s a stage and our leaders think they need to put on a good show since they see themselves as the stars of a great play. It’s our misfortune that so many of them have started living in their own fantasy world and lost touch with reality.

        • Reagan was a pretty good actor and could deliver a great speech. Joe Biden can’t even remember his lines and really should just be just sitting in the audience munching on popcorn or milk duds.

    On the third one, it seems that Biden is determined to oust Putin, rather than allow him an off-ramp to get off the invasion, and that’s what has kept this war going. Having failed so completely, it looks like he’s now determined to make regime change his single achievement. And in doing so, he makes WWIII more likely. And the cancellation of Russia by the entire West is not helping, and makes it more, rather than less, likely

    • There are two Wests: the traditional West and a malignant cancer of NWO Globalists that is overtaking the traditional West and a lot of influential people in the traditional West are being manipulated and a lot are going along with this global coup. I guess Putin isn’t cooperating and that’s why he has to be taken down.

      • I just want to know who is going to take Putin’s place and what is going to happen to all the nuclear weapons in Russia. Joe Biden has absolutely no idea and has probably never even thought about it. It would probably make his brain shrink even faster than it currently is.

    All things considered, and at this point in Biden’s faux Presidency (yes, I believe the election was stolen from Trump and consider that the two main groups averring otherwise, the Democratic Party and the MSM, were the same two groups that assured us for years that the 2016 Trump campaign colluded with Russia even though the Clinton campaign arranged and paid for the fake Steele dossier that began this giant lie), he is shaping up as the worst President in American history. I thought Obama was. No, as bad as Obama was, Biden is even worse.

    The only silver lining in this very dark cloud is that Biden is so awful, though he was pushed by Democrats ad nauseam, that perhaps, just perhaps, many more Americans (N.B., illegals are NOT Americans) will realize not just how awful Biden the Dope is but how awful the Democratic Party is. It should be no more.

    As for Biden himself, my prediction is the worst is yet to come. Count on it.

      You’re certainly correct about Jimmy Carter.

      To me, he was certainly an “enigma” as President:

      1. Very intelligent. A Bachelor of Science degree from the US Naval Academy, and graduate of the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion School. Distinguished duty aboard Naval submarines.

      He had the makings of a truly excellent US Naval submarine officer, but did not finish his career due to the death of his father and unfinished business with the peanut farm.

      2. He was an ineffective Left-leaning president. No question.

      Stephen Hess summed it up well when he wrote in 1978 while Carter was still president: “His passion in government is for how things are done, rather than what should be done.”

      1. Alex in that video says he saw interviews in Greek TV of Greeks living INSIDE Mariupol at the time, and they were using their cellphones,

      and they were telling the Greek TV people that

      the AZOV group was PREVENTING people from leaving the city,it was shooting at civilians.It was using civilians as Human Shields.

      2. That is independent confirmation of the info given to Patrick Lancaster by non-Greek residents. The Azov group was made up of 14,000. It was 400 in 2014.

    • Bullshit. The US and NATO expansion never destroyed a single Russian city, town or village.

      If Russia had been smart, which it most certainly hasn’t been under Putin, it would have aligned with the West and been in NATO by now against thug regimes like China, North Korea and Iran. Besides, Russia, minus former Soviet Republics, which Putin in full self-pity mode pines for so much, is still by far the largest nation on Earth, over 6 million square miles, and with more natural resources than any other country. Russia under a Washington or Lincoln or Churchill, not a Putin, would be one of the three or four most productive countries on the planet. But Putin instead, who is massively corrupt and a killer (surely you know at least this much), has made more of a mess of Russia than First Secretaries and Czars did. He is a sophisticated idiot and a tragedy for Russia, for Ukraine, for Europe, for the West and for all the world.

      Putin is so deficient that even the Soviet economy was more diversified than Putin’s Russia. This is monumentally idiotic on Putin’s part, who is both a monster and massively corrupt. Damn ignorant too.

      Doubt me? Well then, consider what literally millions of Ukrainians think by now. You could start with the over 2 million Ukrainians as refugees in Poland (thank you, Poland—you make me proud to be of Polish descent). Think they blame America for the war in Ukraine instead of Putin? Think again.

      Putin is a monster, highly limited in the way a clever dictator can be ruthlessly efficient as Stalin and Hitler were but still stupid. Please, Russia, no more Putins.

      Doomer, Jimmy Dore has claimed that sanctions against Iran is “terrorism”. “Black Pigeon” claims that equal rights for women destroy societies and that women should be used as sex slaves.

      George Galloway is notoriously for the “Palestinian” Jihad against Israel, and he regularly rants against Jews. He said “Hezbollah has never been a terrorist organisation” and called them “freedom fighters”. In addition: “I glorify the Hezbollah national resistance movement, and I glorify the leader of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah”. Aaron Mate also hates civilized Israel.

      Perhaps the worst is Rania Khalek, who was an editor for the pro-Jihad “Electronic Intifada”. Even the anti-Israeli publication “The Nation” doesn’t go far enough for her, saying, “have you noticed what the magazine’s real problem is? Too many Jews!”. She has said that the murder of Jews is not terrorism, but “defiance”. She’s said that President Trump “riled up fascist sentiments” and attempted a coup. She is a big fan of Ilhan Omar. She also lauded brutal Iranian general Qassim Suleimani. She has whitewashed Jihad terror attacks in France.

      And this is just off the top of my head.

      • Doomer, I can’t find it now, but you asked me about Black Pigeon’s views on women and taking away their equal rights and making them sex slaves, saying you had never heard of such a thing. He has said, “By allowing women to f*ck freely, the West has de facto entered a matriarchy”.

        Of course, this is utterly grotesque. What he means is that women should not be allowed to pick sexual or romantic partners. What would you call this, if not sex slavery?

        And similarly, men can pick their sexual partners–this does not of course mean that society is a patriarchy. Or it would, but only if *only* men could choose.

        But in anything resembling a free society, men and women *both* decide, and sexual and romantic relationships are *consensual and mutual*. This is what Black Pigeon is railing against.

        Sounds like Islam.
