Canada: Trudeau rejects Zelensky’s request for no-fly zone over fears of Russian escalation, says he’s heartbroken

Contrary to the impression given in the CTV article excerpted below, “Trudeau rejects Zelensky’s request for a no-fly zone citing fears of Russian escalation,” Ukrainian President Zelensky has been pleading for help from any NATO countries he can get to help him fight Russia by means of the imposition of a no-fly zone.

The sappy CTV promo article about Trudeau and his “heartbreak” is just another puff piece for the Canada’s incompetent counterpart to Joe Biden. Trudeau didn’t deserve a full-page promo from CTV about facing Zelensky’s pleas and his emotional upset over having to refuse him. It was an embarrassment, nauseating to see the two-faced (one of them is blackface) Trudeau talk about how “heartbreaking” the situation is. It was just more of Trudeau’s cheap antics, and yet another display of his habitual politicking. Nothing Trudeau says or does comes across as genuine, not even his longtime support for anti-racism and feminism (see also HERE). Most recently, he savaged the lowliest Canadian patriots over the Freedom Convoy, including freezing the bank account of a single mother who donated a mere $50 to the Convoy.

Trudeau has earned the crude epithet “F-Trudeau,” which has haunted him all the way to the UK. Several days ago, the presence of protestors led him to sneak in through the back door of Number 10 Downing Street like a thief in a suit with his characteristic painted-on arrogant grin. Even after he managed to dodge the disapproving crowd and made it inside the official residence of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, during his photo-op with Johnson, the “faraway chants of ‘f— Trudeau’” could still be heard. But the authoritarian and unethical Trudeau loves photo-ops, at any cost to his reputation or Canada’s image. A couple days ago, Canada’s National Post ran an article: Trudeau combats Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with Operation Photo-Op.

Imposing a no-fly zone is a serious matter; such decisions are best left to more astute leaders than Trudeau. While a no-fly zone may appear helpful to Ukraine on the surface, it could actually backfire on Ukraine and play out disastrously for the rest of the world by potentially escalating the conflict to involve the entire world.

In a nutshell, implementing a no-fly zone requires the country that agrees to the request to enter into a direct confrontation. Accepting Zelensky’s request would put America, Canada and other NATO countries in the position of being forced to “attack Russian assets upfront, including assets within Russia,” thus exposing NATO aircraft patrolling the no-fly zone to Russian air and ground attacks — an extreme risk that could [likely] escalate into world war.   

Only three days after Russia launched its invasion, Putin “ordered his military to put Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces on high alert,” thus giving the impression that he is prepared to go to extreme levels.

In Ukraine, a no-fly zone would raise hopes that Russia might back off and relieve Ukraine of at least some of the pressure from the Russian military, which has been described by Time magazine as among “the most formidable in the world.” But here is another dangerous complication of a no-fly zone to Ukraine:

Declaring a no-fly zone would be much more difficult in Ukraine. On top of the air force, Russia has extreme long range SAMs. “Nearly all of the country of Ukraine is, in some way or another, under the umbrella of Russian surface-to-air missile capabilities,” a senior defense official said March 8.

Trudeau needs to keep his plastic fake heartbreak about Ukraine to himself, and while he’s at it, keep a low profile. His abilities and biggest accomplishments as a leader have nothing to do with democracy, world peace or human rights. He is best at trampling Canada’s democracy (he admires China’s “basic dictatorship”), having disdain for Christians, being a dhimmi to Islamic supremacist lobbies, opening borders even to Islamic State jihadis, being a handmaiden to the World Economic Forum’s Klaus Schwab, and last but not least, posing for photo-ops.

Despite the proven record of Justin Trudeau and his government, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland stated about Ukraine: “I think they are the moral leaders of the world right now and we all know they are fighting for themselves because they have to right now but they are also fighting for us. They are fighting for democracy… This is a fight between democracy and tyranny.” There is indeed a fight in the world between democracy and tyranny, but which side of the fence has the Trudeau government shown itself to be on? The answer to that is obvious, despite Freeland’s lip service.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he was forced to deny Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to authorize a no-fly zone over Ukraine citing fears about triggering an escalation from Russian forces.

Speaking to CTV National News Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme, Trudeau confirmed Zelensky asked him directly to implement a no-fly zone over Ukraine during a phone call Thursday.

Trudeau called the request and resulting response “heartbreaking,” noting that Zelensky has been asking for the no-fly zone for “many days.”

“It is something that is heartbreaking. To have to say we can do so many things to support, but the risk of escalation, the risk of spreading… of involving NATO in a direct conflict if we send NATO planes over Ukraine to shoot down Russian planes,” Trudeau said.

“We can do an awful lot and we’re doing everything we can. But we can’t do that.”

There have been ongoing calls for NATO to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine since Russia’s invasion of the country despite the repeated rejection of the idea by western leaders concerned about triggering a wider war in Europe.

A no-fly zone would bar all unauthorized aircraft from flying over Ukraine. Western nations imposed such restrictions over parts of Iraq for more than a decade following the 1991 Gulf War, during the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1993-95, and during the Libyan civil war in 2011.

Declaring a no-fly zone could force NATO pilots to shoot down Russian aircraft, which NATO leaders fear would lead to an all-out escalation in Europe.

Speaking to CTV National News alongside Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said Canada is throwing “everything we have at this,” noting that the economic sanctions placed on Russia by Canada and others have forced the Ruble into freefall.

“The Russian Stock Exchange has been closed for the ninth day running. Russian government debt has been downgraded to junk status and ratings agencies are warning of an imminent Russian default,” Freeland said.

But sanctions have not stopped Russian President Vladimir Putin from intensifying the attack on Ukraine, where his military has gone as far as to bomb a maternity hospital.

When asked where the line should be drawn, Trudeau said Putin already crossed it by invading Ukraine.

“Putin already crossed the red line. He has already invaded a sovereign country, broken the UN charter, shown an absolute disregard for human life and the rule of law… and that is why the world is responding with the best tools we could possibly have to save more lives and put an end to this,” he said.

Trudeau would not rule out the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons when asked, noting “many of us didn’t think he would invade Ukraine either.”

Ukrainian authorities and people cowering night after night in bomb shelters say a no-fly zone would protect the civilians from Russian air strikes. Some of those rallying NATO to step in have suggested that the alliance is sacrificing Ukraine to save Europe – a notion Freeland disagrees with.

“I believe that Ukraine is fighting to save Europe,” she said.

“I think they are the moral leaders of the world right now and we all know they are fighting for themselves because they have to right now but they are also fighting for us. They are fighting for democracy… This is a fight between democracy and tyranny.”….
