Jamil Hossein Khan is picking up on a narrative that has been used in the West for years.
“Youth held over vandalism of idols in temple,” by Mohammad Jamil Khan, Daily Star, March 24, 2022:
Police have arrested a man on charges of vandalising idols in a Hindu temple in the capital’s Khilgaon on Monday.
Arrestee Md Ezazul Hossain Khan, 31, appeared to be mentally ill. He received treatment for the illness, said police.
Ezazul entered Dev Mandir in Tilpapara area of Khilgaon after scaling the main entrance at 2:28pm on Monday.
He vandalised several idols and left the temple within four minutes, according to a case filed by the temple management committee with Khilgaon Police Station on Tuesday.
Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner (Motijheel division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they picked up the youth from the capital on Tuesday afternoon….
“We are trying to be sure whether or not he is ill,” Ahad told The Daily Star.
Narayan Chandra Bhowmik, president of the Dev Mandir management committee, said Ezazul was carrying a sword tucked into his waist.
“CCTV footage showed that he drew the sword from his waist after entering the temple. The temple staffers were taking rest at that time,” he said.
The youth, who was wearing black panjabi, pyjama and cap, broke the idols with a brick, said Narayan….
Jamil Hossain Khan, the arrestees’ father, said his son had been receiving treatment for mental illness at a hospital in the city’s Shyamoli for the last seven years.
“Ezazul was given an injection three months back. He was supposed to receive another dose, but he did not receive it as we could not realise when he came home and went out in the last couple of weeks,” he said.

Some “youth”, of 31.
Strange that the actions of his mental illness are consistent with the instructions in his mosque.

Good point, Michael–how is a *31-year-old* a “youth”? But you see this often in the West–it is done to gin up sympathy for the perp, not matter how perverse.

For a moment, say 2 minutes, we shall imagine that every Muslim who personally commits violence is mentally ill. This does not explain how the ideas of destroying the property of other religions, assaulting, or killing those who believe differently were injected into their defective brains.
There is a book that divides the world into two factions, the believers and the unbelievers and casts a plethora of infinitely vulgar aspersions upon the unbelievers to the degree that the unbelievers became a caste of cattle to have their history erased, be enslaved, and if still resisting, be slaughtered.
Could those “mentally ill” Muslims have been influenced by that book?

So true.
Besides, if Muslims *really were* so prone to mental illness–many times more than those of other faiths, and far more prone to violence–that *itself* would be a problem, and reason to keep them out of the civilized world.

The real news in this story is Bangladesh police actually arresting Md Ezazul Hossein Khan. Most recently, they’ve been turning a blind eye towards atrocities against Hindus, and so has India
Westman says
Only because the police station won’t be mobbed over a “mentally ill” prisoner. They won’t have to imprison him, just send him off for observation and “treatment”. If the Hindus complain they will simply say, “Sorry about that chum, but we all know he’s nuts!”
You can be certain, while the “ill” fellow was smashing icons, there was glee in the face of Muslim observers. One of them may have suggested the action.

Yes–rather surprising that he was arrested at all in Bangladesh. I wouldn’t look for a robust prosecution, though…
Devasur says
Same tactics are used everywhere when a Muslim does it, it is a mental illness when non-Muslims just say it is not it is islamophobia. Crying victims while stabbing others.

Bangladesh: Muslim vandalizes idols in Hindu temple, his father claims he’s mentally ill
……………..
This is orthodox Islam, not “mental illness”.
