The laws for the subjugated people, the dhimmis, in Sharia societies forbid them to preach or make public display of their religions. Vesco, a bishop in the mode of Pope Francis, is happily adopting that subservient role.
“Archbishop of Algiers Abandons Evangelism,” by Jules Gomes, Church Militant, March 8, 2022:
ALGIERS, Algeria (ChurchMilitant.com) – The head of the Catholic Church in the overwhelmingly Muslim nation of Algeria is asking Catholics to “get rid of the idea that we have to evangelize and bring people to our truth.”
“Simultaneously, we must accept that there is perhaps also, in Islam, a part of truth that escapes us,” the new archbishop of Algiers, Jean-Paul Vesco, told Swiss Catholic media cath.ch in an interview in February.
Pope Francis “affirms in a way that baptism is not the condition of salvation,” Vesco noted, explaining how the pontiff’s “revolutionary” approach to Islam has replaced evangelization with fraternity.
“We are therefore believers among other believers,” the prelate said in a second interview with SIR Agency, conceding: “We are aware that we are addressing people who, in turn, have a faith that is different from ours.”
However, there were challenges posed by Muslim apologists “who tell us daily they know our religion and why it is not a true path to God,” he said. “It is difficult to hear these speeches with the Koran as an irrefutable argument.”
But “let us beware of ourselves whenever we are tempted to look negatively at Islam,” Vesco warned. “We cannot give our testimony without our Algerian Muslim partners.”…
Meanwhile, Catholic Islamic scholar William Kilpatrick has blasted Abp. Vesco for claiming “there might be in Islam some truth that evades us.”
“One of the Islamic truths that seems to escape the archbishop is that Allah has commanded that all the world be subjected to him,” Kilpatrick wrote Friday in Frontpage Mag. “Algeria happens to be a good example of subjugation by Islam.”…
“Thanks to prelates like Pope Francis and Abp. Vesco, evangelization is off the table,” and as jihadists terrorize Christians, “Catholic leaders keep treating us to rose-colored depictions of Islam that bear no relation to reality,” Kilpatrick lamented.
“Like Chamberlain at Munich, Pope Francis can wave his document on Human Fraternity as a sign of peace, but for Christians across the world, the situation vis-à-vis Islam only goes from bad to worse,” Kilpatrick concludes. “Francis fiddles with ‘fraternity’ while Africa burns.”

This fool has allowed himself to be misled by the “teachings of demons.”
Jesus said, “And as you go, **preach**, saying the Kingdom is near.” (Matthew)
He also said, “Make disciples of people of **all the nations** baptizing ***them in the Name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, **teaching** them all the things I commanded you; and I am with you until the conclusion of this system of things.”
The so-called “bishop” is contradicting the very One Whom he claims to serve and to help others to know and serve.
But, he is not obedient from the get-go, because Jesus said, “Do not you be called *rabbi* for all of you are brothers.”
A “rabbi” and a “bishop’ are basically in the same position…clergy of their respective religions, taking titles that set them apart as if they are holier and deserving of more respect.
I don’t give a hoot what this idiot for satan and **friend** of islam says, except that he is misleading others into denial of the Holy Commands of our Lord and Savior and
many will be
“led astray from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons.”
He will face a heavy Judgment for his false teaching, his lies about Christ and “stumbling these *little* ones.”

a liberation theologian vesco, in league with the liberation theology pope, both of whom are ‘no are longer closet’ supporting minions of Muhammadanism… the same as the rest of the politi’Kal ‘Klasses selling out of mankind to feudal Muhammadan tyranny.
if there were any Christians or Jews left in the world they would be driving the Muhammadan thugs back into their suppressive – poverty stricken cesspool economies of ignorance governed by feudal Muhammadanism. And the first step would be defrocking and expelling muhammadan toadies, like the pope an vesco, from the church… probably going to court and getting orders requiring religious traitors like vesco and the pope to re-register : re-affiliate as the Muhammadans they are.
There being nothing but Liberation theology toadies left to pose as if Christians and Jews the overt support for Muhammadanism will continue to accelerate.

Algeria: Catholic archbishop condemns evangelism, says ‘there is, in Islam, a part of truth that escapes us’
………………
Good grief. As Somehistory notes, evangelizing is a key tenet of Christianity.
I can possibly see the Archbishop of Algiers deeming proselytization of Muslims too dangerous under current conditions (although Christians have risked their lives to spread the word for two millenia)–but *condemnimg* it? Just appalling.

Yes–this is dhimmitude.

Then this is the worst of all:
“Simultaneously, we must accept that there is perhaps also, in Islam, a part of truth that escapes us”
………………
What would *that* be? Organized persecution of Christians? Destruction of Churches? Musder of apostates who dare embrace Christianity? The Archbishop does not say…
Is he a fan of imprisonment for the “crime” of “offending the Prophet”? He doesn’t say he has a problem with it.

Actually, I had assumed that Algerian Archbishop Jean-Paul Vesco was acting like a dhimmi because Christians are threatened in Algeria–but it turns out to be *much worse* than that. Here’s Vesco as Archbishop of Oran sneering at charitable monks who were murdered by Jihadists:
“Archbishop of Oran: “France focuses on the death of 19 Monks and overlooks that of 200,000 Algerians””
https://www.echoroukonline.com/archbishop-of-oran-france-focuses-on-the-death-of-19-monks-and-overlooks-that-of-200000-algerians
The “200,000 Algerians”–a suspect number, in any case–were those killed in the course of Islamist insurgency.
So he knows about Jihad terror–even against peaceful monks–and he all but approves. *Ugh*.
Michael says
I don’t doubt that 200k Algerians were killed by jihadis during their Civil War 2.
If he had focused his praise on the many moderate Muslims in Algeria, I would see his point.
An Algerian Berber friend used to pepper his French proudly with the Latin he had learnt from French missionaries, the peres blancs. He knew well that Algeria was a Judeo-Christian country before the enemy Arabs invaded.
Algeria should be cultivated as a bulwark against extreme Islam and a major gas supplier through its pipelines to Italy and Spain. .
James Lincoln says
So Algiers has a new archbishop, Jean-Paul Vesco.
And that’s who Pope Francis has in the pipeline:
Archbishop, then Cardinal, then…

Doesn’t this archbishop realize that if the god of the Muslims is the same god as the god of Christians then that god is a liar? The god of the Bible makes it clear that Jesus is his son. The god in the Koran makes it clear that having a son is beneath the dignity of that god and even considering the possibility of that god having a son is repulsive. The same god made both assertions – that there is a son and there is not a son? What? The truth is that the Supreme Being and Creator of the Universe tells one group of people one thing and another group of people the exact opposite? That’s the truth? The truth is that God is a liar? If such is the case then I say there is no hope of human beings ever finding the truth because the truth depends on the whims of a god who is completely untrustworthy. That is the nature of the god in which this archbishop believes. The archbishop completely destroys his own religion and his reason for being a Catholic. Why is he still even a Christian if he accepts the idea that his god is a liar? If God is a liar then I can trust NOTHING that comes from God — not a man who says he is the Son of God or even a man who says he was sent by God. Yeah, I guess the truth can evade us if there is no such thing as the truth. Oh, now the half of my brain that still works is starting to hurt. Gotta take a Tylenol.

To CogitoErgoSum-Excellent reply, and thank you.??
I would like to add Jesus’ words from Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to
the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Revised Standard Version: “Mammon” is defined
as worldly gain; riches.)
Johnny B says
How can there be “a part of truth that escapes us” in Islam as it denies the divinity of Christ and that he was even crucified???
I suggest this Archbishop re-read the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, where some of the seed fell among thorn bushes that grew up and choked the plants.
This is not a trivial thing for Christians and many of us would never even dream of compromising on these fundamental doctrines, even if it means our temporary lives on this earth.
Linde Barrera says
To Johnny B- You are absolutely correct, and I do not mean “politically correct.” ?? Yet
it appears Muslims are brain-washed to believe that God cannot be born into a human being, and that is their justification for not believing Jesus is God Incarnate. My former neighbor Rustam (who was Muslim) told me this a while back. My response was: “God is all mighty, all knowing and omnipotent. God is unlimited and infinite and can do whatever He wants.” Rustam said nothing to me after that.
OLD GUY says
Islam evangelism by rape gangs, murder and violence are a huge improvement over preaching peace, love and teaching the word of Christ.
If Bishop Vesco wants to stick his head in the sand and expose his butt to the Muslim’s they will take advantage of his position.
Goofy says
Apparently this archbishop has neither read the Bible nor the Qur’an. Having said that it is not news that the gospel preached by the Roman Catholic church is “another gospel” and is therefore under the curse of St Paul the Apostle according to his epistle to the Galatians 1:6-9.
Biblical Christianity and Islam are opposites. The first is based on Jesus Christ in whom we by faith are justified before God. Islam is based on self righteousness attained by deeds which often take the form of killing the unbelievers. That is a far cry from “love your enemy”.
Salvation means for the Christian eternal closeness to our Lord and Saviour. For the Muslim man it means an eternity served by women and boys in a paradisical bordello where you never grow limb! The Muslim has no desire to be close to his Allah who is the greatest of deceivers. So different from God Jehovah who cannot lie!
On and on it goes and one could easily white a book about the contrasts between bible biblical Christianity and Islam.
There are of course certain similarities between the gospel preached by the Roman Catholic church and Islam. They both blaspheme our Lord and Saviour, Islam denies his redemptive death and resurrection, and the Roman Catholic church claims that the pope is the vicar of Christ. Jesus promised to send us his comforter, the Holy Spirit, not a pope.
