New in PJ Media:
Everybody else — even many who were happy that he became president — has soured on Old Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency, but not the man who warned us not to “underestimate Joe’s ability to f**k things up.” Barack Obama on Thursday called on all Americans to get behind the sanctions on Russia that Biden has already admitted don’t stop Vladimir Putin from doing anything. Even worse, Obama said that Joe’s sanctions would cost us, like everything else connected to the Biden administration, but that it would all be worth it for the cause of freedom. As Obama was speaking as one of the foremost figures of the increasingly authoritarian Left, his words were hardly inspirational to anyone who has been paying attention.
Obama declared that “people of conscience around the world need to loudly and clearly condemn Russia’s actions and offer support for the Ukrainian people.” This involves getting behind Biden’s toothless sanctions: “And every American, regardless of party, should support President Biden’s efforts, in coordination with our closest allies, to impose hard-hitting sanctions on Russia — sanctions that impose a real price on Russia’s autocratic elites.”
Yet Biden himself emphasized, also on Thursday, that the sanctions would not actually “impose a real price” on Putin or anyone, in that they would not stop Russia from invading Ukraine. “No one expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening,” Biden said, contradicting numerous statements from top officials in his own administration, including Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden continued, “This could take time and we have to show resolve so he knows what’s coming and so the people of Russia know what he’s brought on them, this is what this is all about. This is going to take time, it’s not going to occur … he’s gonna say ‘Oh my God, these sanctions are coming, I’m gonna stand down.’”
What Joe in his dementia haze was trying to say was that the sanctions wouldn’t make Putin stand down, which really means that they’re just a way of saving face and are otherwise worthless. But that doesn’t mean that the American taxpayer isn’t going to have to pay for them. Obama warned, “There may be some economic consequences to such sanctions, given Russia’s significant role in global energy markets. But that’s a price we should be willing to pay to take a stand on the side of freedom.”
We should be willing to endure the still-higher prices that will result from Biden’s sanctions in order to preserve “democracy,” by which Leftists generally mean “Leftist hegemony.” “For some time now,” Obama said, “we have seen the forces of division and authoritarianism make headway around the world, mounting an assault on the ideals of democracy, rule of law, equality, individual liberty, freedom of expression and worship, and self-determination. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine shows where these dangerous trends can lead — and why they cannot be left unchallenged.”

All these treacherous leftist/globalist politicians and ‘elites’ need to removed from ALL positions of power immediately and permanently.
They’re worse than Putin!

All the usual Republican campaign tropes. Does Bob have better policy ideas for Old Joe?
WPM says
A better policy for “old joe” would be to put the keystone pipeline project back on line, to start mining and drilling our way to energy independence .More then a third of Russia,s GNP is from oil and gas. Let put this green energy bondoggle cult to rest. Without the money from the now 0ver 100 dollars a barrel for oil and Europe needing Russian,s national gas they would go broke trying to fight a long term war with a country of 40 million people the Ukraine.
Infidel says
Yeah, what WPM said, plus getting off this climate change jihad that the Dems have embraced. Every one of you Climate Change jihadists, the blood of everyone who’s died in Ukraine and will die while this war runs – that blood is on your hands

Democrats defend Ukrainian borders while not bothering to stop the flow of illegals coming across our own.

“We should be willing to endure the still-higher prices”
Leftwing-Green-Marxist demands to close all nuclear power plants (as in Germany) is a source of very high energy prices and inflation. Wrong timing.

Isn’t it strange that the first Russian invasion started in February 2014, after Western meddling, and now again in February 2022 for similar reasons and during the tenure of US Presidents of the same party with similar agendas?
This Russian invasion is the result of NATO trying to stepwise turn Ukraine into a defacto member instead of a neutral nation through injection of weaponry used in Ukraine’s civil war and suggesting to Ukraine leadership that it would become a future NATO member. The results are terrible and horrific, yet predictable.
The tolerance for NATO’s pushing onto Russia’s “Monroe Doctrine equivalent”” was exceeded.
The Biden admin idea that Russian is going to stop due to internal pressure from “sanctioned” citizens is pure delusion. Russia has a history of rising to incredible sacrifice and focusing that to aggressive action. China will buy any fossil energy the Russians will send them and both have an interest in ending the dollar as the World’s Reserve Currency.
It’s difficult to determine if the “bear poking” was an actual policy of Obama and Biden or they simply didn’t hold the reins (asleep) on Ukraine policy while the think tanks, bureaucracy, and Pentagon worked their designs. It might be the latter. Obama and Biden are certainly delusional at the moment.
Let’s hope that an agreement can be reached to allow Ukraine to be a neutral nation, which would stop this war. Can anyone find another solution that doesn’t involve mushrooms clouds or an occupied Ukraine?
We are not hearing any non-aggressive solutions by the Biden administration to end the war. Draw your own careful conclusions of where that will lead.
Infidel says
I quite agree w/ you. In 1962, we had a cow when the Soviets tried to establish missile bases in Cuba. Russia so far hasn’t tried any yet, but I’d like to see the reaction of the foreign policy elitists in DC when Comrade Justin gives military bases to President Xi
Really, can someone explain to me the raison d’être of NATO today? Or list me any achievements of that organization since the disintegration of the Soviet Union? One way to end this would be for US to leave NATO, then Russia won’t care whether or not Ukraine joins.

Yes–notable that Russia did not invade Ukraine under Trump.

Obama’s a hypocrite and a deceiver.
He and his ilk will not ‘suffer’ economic consequences – what does he care if gas is $6 per gallon ! Construction on his new multi-million dollar home in Hawaii will continue.
Rather, he and Biden’s handlers will “never let a crisis go to waste” to promote their agenda.

From a National Review article on Obama by Andrew C. McCarthy:
“To repeat what I said at the time (2014), “The American government official who was at the forefront of disarming Ukraine was none other than Senator Barack Obama. The Daily Mail had the report back in March(2014):
As a U.S. senator, Barack Obama won $48 million in federal funding to help Ukraine destroy thousands of tons of guns and ammunition – weapons which are now unavailable to the Ukrainian army as it faces down Russian President Vladimir Putin during his invasion of Crimea. In August 2005, just seven months after his swearing-in, Obama traveled to Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine with then-Indiana Republican Senator Dick Lugar, touring a conventional weapons site. The two met in Kiev with President Victor Yushchenko, making the case that an existing Cooperative Threat Reduction Program covering the destruction of nuclear weapons should be expanded to include artillery, small arms, anti-aircraft weapons, and conventional ammunition of all kinds. After a stopover in London, the senators returned to Washington and declared that the U.S. should devote funds to speed up the destruction of more than 400,000 small arms, 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles, and more than 15,000 tons of ammunition.
A press release from then-Senator Lugar’s office included then-Senator Obama’s puerile proclamation that eliminating Ukraine’s stocks of conventional weapons would ensure ‘the safety of the Ukrainian people and people around the world, by keeping them out of conflicts around the world.’”

Also, remember Trump accused Obama of sending blankets to Ukraine because Obama would not send them weapons ?!
Too bad Biden and his Obama handlers didn’t ship some of the hundreds of millions of dollars of top notch military equipment, including night vision googles, that he left in Afghanistan to Ukraine.
We do not need any of Obama’s damn advice or backwards moralizing !
