Not a word in this weepy, self-pitying article about the targeting of non-Muslims by jihadis all over the world. If that ceased, so would any negative view of Islam. Surely Saeed Al-Shehabi must know that, but there is a concerted worldwide effort to obscure it. The asinine views he articulates here are shared in the establishment media the world over.

Among the most dangerous threats to world security today, in addition to the expansion of military armament, especially in the nuclear field and the spread of terrorism, is the phenomenon of antagonising religions, especially Islam, and seeking to demonise them using the most horrific methods. The most prominent of these methods is misinformation, distortion and stereotyping. After decades of targeting the political manifestations of Islamic movements, the old approaches of targeting religion have been restored.
This targeting deepened after the failure to target what was called “political Islam” and the involvement of parties hostile to the religious phenomenon in its essence, seeing it as an obstacle to the growth of absolute liberalism that seeks to skip religious instructions and its regulations. In addition to cultural motives, a lack of knowledge regarding the principles, values and legislative systems of Islam that protect the weak and rein in the greedy, exploiters and looters is the main motive for this hostility.
What is certain is that Islam has been subjected to the lion’s share of targeting, which is no longer confined to the media. Rather, official policies in the Western world are taking this path that does not serve peace and security in the world. The liberal project actually shoots itself in the foot when it seeks to confiscate the principles it is supposed to adopt, especially in the field of public liberties. France, which is at the forefront of the new Western project to target religion, no longer adheres to the liberal rules of the game, especially in the field of freedoms related to personal choices such as belief, dress and religious practices. The current French President, Emmanuel Macron, has become one of the most radical French presidents towards Islam and he is supported in this approach by a large part of the media, although most human rights organisations reject the approach he is taking due to the embarrassment it causes to the liberal project. Last October, authorities closed a mosque in Allonnes, claiming that it promoted “radical Islam”. The French Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, confirmed that the bank accounts of the mosque’s administrators were also seized, adding that 13 Islamic organisations have been closed in the country since Macron took office and that 92 mosques had been closed.
Last March, the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, Ahmed Shaheed, said: “Islamophobia builds imaginary constructs around Muslims that are used to justify state-sponsored discrimination, hostility and violence against Muslims with stark consequences for the enjoyment of human rights including freedom of religion or belief.”
Perhaps former US President, Donald Trump, was the first to disclose the new Western project aiming to restrict the religious phenomenon, especially the Islamic one. He began his presidency by issuing a law banning citizens of seven Islamic countries from entering the US, in what was considered a violation of liberal values themselves and an expression of intolerance, narrow-mindedness and persecution. American organisations working to promote democracy and support what they considered “moderate Islam” changed their policies to stop supporting the Islamic institutions they had considered to be “moderate”….

i suppose there’s no need for me to critique this stupid article by Saeed Al-Shehabi, but i want to draw attention to the photo above: “Isiamophobia is not freedom.” There are of course many people, in America and elsewhere, who think that we do not have a right to say unfavorable things about Islam. This tyrannical view may previail. We should lose no opportunity to condemn it.

Yes, Doomer–I have heard such insanity as the idea that freedom and human rights are “white”–not even the claim that these are not extended to non-white people, but that such concepts are in and of themselves “white” and hence racist. False and very ugly stuff.
I had not heard about Stovall’s book, but this ugly stupidity does not surprise.

When Islam was mainly contained within Islamic nations, it was largely ignored or not of sufficient interest to study though tales of odd behavior were sometimes heard. Then it came to the West, in a modern communication era, and began displaying bad actors who justified their actions under Islam’s scriptures. It was also unable to keep to itself , demonstrating in public with chants and signs denigrating the West’s citizens while basking on benefits derived by taxing those citizens.
Islam has been its own author of the citizen’s mistrust. There is no Islamophobia, it is disgust and failing tolerance for the intolerable. Islam carries a superior attitude that the actions of its members, in actual free society, do not support.
Islam will be unable to have the respect it desires until it supresses jihadists, everywhere. The world is connected, instantaneously. What happens in Pakistan is seen at the same time as in Paris, Germany, or Dearborn Michigan. Islam can’t claim it is different because of geography. There is only one Quran.

When I was in grade school in the late 50s / early 60s, our school had a fine library of past issues of National Geographic. Interesting stories – and pictures of faraway places.
However…
To this day, I remember a picture of a child “bride” in an islamic country – sitting with her muslim “husband”.

I recall that those countries where islam prevails over other beliefs and practices, was once shown in movies as “exotic” and “mysterious,” but never as a bad thing…except for the occasional creepy guy with a knife up his sleeve.
The fact that we …some of us…know more now about islam is a very good thing. The only “worrying development,” is that many “infidels” don’t know and others seem to be fully accepting of the evils…including the rape of little girls by old males. They are not appropriately “shocked” as you, only a child at the time, was.

The big lie…that islam is the most “targeted.” Christians are the “most targeted” for discrimination and persecution, even to death, and mostly by mozlums who see it as their “right” to murder others.

Secondly, mozlums are their own worst enemies as they are those who deceive, rape and murder and then expect not to be accused of deception, rape and murder or to be prosecuted for these crimes.

Nothing gave me my view of islam except moslems and their murderous behavior. I’ve been watching the slaughterhouse of islam for decades. In the past, Islam was safely contained within the boundaries of impoverished Islamic nations. Now thanks to World mobility, it is getting up everyone’s nose and creating widespread Islamophobia which is rightly defined as a fear of Islam.

The concept of ‘freedom’ seems to depend on one’s vantage point, take Hamas and their idea of freedom, to achieve it they must first obliterate Israel and then they’ll be free.
It seems that it has never occurred to them that they could skip the obliterate Israel part and still be free but alas in order to do that the Palestinians would have to free themselves from Hamas first and probably Islam as well.
In a general sense what Muslims appear to be saying is that according to Islamic dogma anyone who restricts or prevents Muslims from carrying out the instructions to make murderous warfare on the Kaffir (us) in the Koran is an Islamophobic racist and a bigot.
In order to avoid being an Islamophobic racist and a bigot we are required to allow Muslims to murder us randomly so that those who want to sit at the right hand of Allah in the afterlife can do so, and of course take possession of 72 self renewing virgins.

Just bald-faced inverstion of reality. Actually, Islam is violent and targets vulnerable people, and actually sacralizes looting and enslaving unbelievers, because this is what the foul “Prophet” Muhammed did.
And far from people lacking knowledge about Islam being a problem, the fact is that the more one learns about Islam the more obvious it is that it is a threat to anyone who values freedom and decency.
