Many will blame the U.S., or its withdrawal, for this, but the Sunni-Shi’ite jihad was going on for centuries before there even was a United States.

Kabul, Dec 11 (EFE).- The fear of terror attacks has become a daily reality for Afghanistan’s Shia Hazara minority, and as they go about their daily lives, death can strike at the most unexpected times: while coming out of school, praying at the mosque or in an urban transport vehicle.
In order to protect themselves, the Hazaras live together in closely-knit neighborhoods, such as Kabul’s well-known western area of Dashte Barchi, but this has made them easy targets for attacks often claimed by the Islamic State terror group, which considers the community apostates.
On Friday, a sacred day when streets are full of people and the Taliban were keeping watch, twin bombings targeted two passenger vans within a span of 30 minutes.
Two people were killed and three injured in the first blast, while a woman was injured in the second….

Back to the roots of the religion, robbing travellers. Unfortunately for Jihadis in that part of the World there are very few non Muslims left to rob and murder. Not a problem, just pretend, or believe, you have the authority to decide who is and who isn’t a “real” Muslim, find some like minded people and live the dream.

Once the Hazaras are extinct, it’ll morph into an ethnic civil war – Pastun vs Tajik/Uzbek/Turkmen, and an intra-sunni one at that. Inshallah it spills into Pakistan

Yep–and if only the Pashtuns are left at some point, the more pious Muslims will go after the “insufficiently Islamic”. And in places where all Muslims are pious, we still see Jihadist-on-Jihadist jockeying for power, like ISIS-K vs the Taliban. Muslim savagery never ends.

Afghanistan is a desert pile of sand, gravel, and rock except for a small area close to the Gulf. Turkey has sucked up the water that flowed into it with dams on the two main rivers. Iran is little better with the former water that flowed from it. Afghanistan has a tiny port in the gulf that can be blocked at any time by both neighbors.
Afghanistan has no great future for anyone who wants a better and peaceful life. Without money flowing in from other nations it will be a continual place of conflict over what remains – like the murders of Hazaras. And if money is injected it will be grabbed by the Taliban and other militants. What a sorry mess.
An interesting sidenote: Under the Taliban, Afghanistan will be a view into the past of Islam before oil. However, cell phones and computers will create far more dissatisfaction as Afghanis view what could have been without the Taliban.

Westman–with all respect–you are mistaken. Afghanistan is entirely landlocked. At least 300 miles of Iran and Pakistan lie between Afghanistan and any access to the Gulf.

The mind mixed up Iraq and Afghanistan though neither has much of a future. Scrub the whole post, geesh. Iraq is water starved, can’t develop its oil and Afghanistan is land-locked.
