Police now know the identity of the passenger in a taxi involved in an explosion outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital – and believe he made the ‘improvised device’ involved.
The man died after a device was set off in a car just outside the entrance to the hospital at around 10.59 on Remembrance Sunday (November 14).
His name has not yet been released.
David Perry, the driver of the taxi, was able to escape and has now been released from hospital.
He has been praised as a hero for ‘diverting what could have been an awful disaster’.
Assistant Chief Constable and Head of Counter Terror North West Unit, Russ Jackson, said it is believed that the passenger made the device which was set off in the car.
He said police’s assumption was that the improvised explosive device “was built by the passenger in the taxi”.
The reason why the device was taken to the Women’s Hospital is unknown, he added, as is the reason for the sudden explosion, which has now been declared as a terrorist incident.
The motive is ‘yet to be understood’ but a fourth man has been arrested under the Terror Act after three were arrested on Sunday.
Officers investigating the explosion ‘cannot at this time draw any connection’ with Remembrance Sunday events near the Women’s Hospital but confirmed ‘it is a line of inquiry’, it was confirmed….
“It is not clear what the motivation for this incident is.
“Our enquiries indicate that an improvised explosive device has been manufactured and our assumption so far is that this was built by the passenger in the taxi.
“The reason why he then took it to the Women’s Hospital is unknown, as is the reason for its sudden explosion.
“We are of course aware that there were remembrance events just a short distance away from the Hospital and that the ignition occurred shortly before 11am.
“We cannot at this time draw any connection with this but it is a line of inquiry we are pursuing.
“Although, the motivation for this incident is yet to be understood, given all the circumstances, it has been declared a terrorist incident and Counter Terrorism Policing are continuing with the investigation.
“Our enquiries will now continue to seek to understand how the device was built, the motivation for the incident and to understand if anyone else was involved in it….

“…the defendant believed in carrying out this attack he was acting in pursuit of an extremist ideology he appears to have held for some time. He believed killing as many people as possible, he was performing an act of religious jihad.”

I hear that the UK authorities are fearful of other attacks soon. I wonder if, some day, there will be a cumulative effect from all these neverending Muslim terrorist attacks (never Buddhist or Christian or Hindu terrorist attacks) and most of the population will wake the hell up and say, no, we’ve had enough of Muslims , we are sick of being the victims of their evil murderous crap, and we should throw them all out.
