Mother of Jesus, Mother of all us…
Our Lady of Sorrows, here we are.

My latest in PJ Media:
There have been numerous indications recently that the Left, while regarding traditional religion (or at least Christianity) with contempt, is constructing a new religion of its own, based on its political agenda. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which is so far-Left as to make Karl Marx himself blush, recently published a new hymn entitled “The Climate is Changing.” Not long before that, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D-Planned Parenthood), aping the cadences of a preacher, proclaimed that the unvaccinated “aren’t listening to God and what God wants,” and told a Christian audience: “I need you to be my apostles” of vaccination. And now the Catholic University of America, which is ostensibly a Christian institution, is displaying two copies of a painting depicting George Floyd as Jesus Christ. Yes, it’s ridiculous and worse, but remember: laughing at this foolishness will get you denounced as a “blasphemer,” that is, a “racist,” and cast into the outer darkness.
The Daily Signal reported Monday that the painting, which is a pastiche of traditional Byzantine iconography, is the work of one Kelly Latimore, and is entitled “Mama.” Karna Lozoya, Catholic University’s vice president for university communications, insisted that it is an image of “the Virgin Mary supporting the body of the dead Christ” and that “you can identify Jesus by the marks on the halo.”
In a certain sense, it’s true: the halo does indeed bear the letters that signify that the one depicted is Jesus, and in classic iconographic style, the Christ/Floyd figure is labeled as “IC XC,” that is, Jesus Christ. However, the figure is not a traditional iconographic image of Christ: in the image, both Jesus and His mother are black, and the identification with Floyd is made explicit in a plaque that hangs next to the painting: “Following the violent death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, Latimore created this Icon in June of that year. The image is evocative of the Pieta — the Mother of Sorrows. May Mary, the Mirror of Justice hear the cry of all who have known the sorrow of losing a loved one to violence and injustice. Amen.”
Latimore even explained last April that he regarded his painting “as a way to mourn George Floyd.” He added: “The common question that people asked was, ‘Is it George Floyd or Jesus?’ The fact they’re asking that question is part of the problem. My answer was yes.”
There is more. Read the rest here.

A new religion based on drug addicts as the new saints.
In fact, George Lloyd is the newest ‘fool-saint’, a person who is considered falsely to have a special relationship with God and/or who dies for his faith and then produces miracles.
The pathologist said that George Lloyd died after having ingested 50 different drugs a short time before his arrest for passing counterfeit currency. Are those the actions of a saint?
Many people have heart disease, but they are not considered saints or martyrs if they die of their heart disease.
Dr. David Fowler, Maryland’s former chief medical examiner, also listed Floyd’s drug use as a “significant” factor.
A defense expert said George Floyd died from a sudden heart rhythm and enlarged heart problems due to his heart disease while being restrained by police
Painting an icon of George Lloyd trivializes saints and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their love for Jesus.
mortimer says
The greatest of Christian virtues is prudence. George Floyd knowing took a variety of dangerous, doubtful street drugs in combination with each other … a form of Russian roulette. He did that knowing he had heart disease and an enlarged heart. Smoking drugs is a major producer of heart arrhythmia. Was George Lloyd using any prudence at any time?
A Christian saint must show prudence. George Floyd was imprudent, wild, selfish and sadistic.

Sure… Fentanyl Floyd was ‘using Prudence’… Wasn’t the owner of the pregnant belly he thrust his pistol into named Prudence??

I watched a lot of the Derek Chauvin trial and one of the prosecution’s main arguments for first degree murder was–and I kid you not–something along the lines of “George Floyd could not have died from drug overdose because after years of taking fentanyl, he built up the resistance for it.” Never mind the fact that the dosage in his system was something like 10 times the lethal amount for a human being. Amazing argument, I know, but it worked nonetheless, and officer Derek will now be getting raped in prison by the entire black prison population (which is something like 80%) for the rest of his life.
Same 500IQ take happened during the Kyle Rittenhouse trial where that gay state attorney claimed that Kyle was “an active shooter” despite the fact that he only shot those that directly attacked him, and that “if you use a gun in a fist fight, you lose the right to self-defense” despite the fact that Kyle was run down and assaulted by a group of people (convicted Jewish pedophiles, actually).
And even the McCloskeys couple that defended their private property against BLM rioters that broke down their gate. They never shot or injured anyone, just stood there with their guns until the rioters retreated, but were put on trial regardless!
Meanwhile, a black career criminal with a rap sheet the size of a phonebook gets only $1000 bail, after which he goes and runs over dozens of innocent white women and children at a Christmas parade in a racially motivated hate crime. But hey! The justice system is systemically racist, so what he did was perfectly justifiable, according to the Left. If only he wasn’t so racially targeted by the system, he wouldn’t have done it! (LOL!) Can’t wait to see the outcome of that trial.
Point being, all these political show trials are just that — for show. There is no justice anymore and god help you–a white person–should you do something which is perfectly legal but, unfortunately for you, goes against the mainstream leftist narrative. From that point on, fortune takes control of your fate and it becomes a lucky draw of judge and jurors. Nothing like a perfectly functioning and totally non-bias legal system, am I right?

A man who lead a violent life who died committing violence in resisting arrest that lead to his death by heart disease combined with heavy mixture of strong drugs overdosing. Many people who lead a life of violence and have drug problems have over come them renounce them to go on to help others in their community with similar problems .This man did not, to hold him as some kind of moral example for others to follow ,as some kind saint who lead a life of full of debauchery ,violence, crime is truly blaspheming .If he was white , or Asian it would have changed anything he is example of a man wasting the gift of life given to him from God.

this sacrilege shows that indeed the modern churches are not following Jesus anymore but are merely organs of satan himself and are leading their flocks to the cliffs of hell…
Jesus was not a dirty disgusting criminal and any comparison is a sacrilege….
The true God will cast fire upon this blasphemy and its followers…sooner or later…

Agree. The sooner part is closer than we can know, but Jesus Himself told us for what to watch so as to be “ready”…all those things He foretold are peaking all around us.

So Mary raised her son to be a drug addict, an abuser of pregnant women and a petty criminal trying to pass counterfeit money to buy a carton of cigarettes? Be prepared for Pope Francis to praise this painting and request that a copy of it be hung in every Catholic church right next to a statue of Pachemama. I’m surprised the face of Mary isn’t that of Cardi B … or Lil NasX in drag …. or is it? Oh wait, the answer is yes.

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. …”
This Scripture is being ignored by those who **claim** to be Christian. To be Christian, means to follow Jesus and make every effort to do what He did, live they way He lived…and one has to Know Jesus in order to follow in His footsteps.
These fools do not Know Jesus. If they stay on the “path” they are traveling, they will get to Know Jesus as He will be coming with a “flaming sword” to carry out God’s Judgments, because the “road” they are on “leads to destruction.”
It isn’t enough that they mock Christians for believing, for speaking about Jesus to glorify Him, and to let others know Who He is and what He will do to make things right.
Now they must ‘glorify’ a violent and un-Christian criminal and display the evil guy as equal to our Lord and Savior. More mockery.
This mockery and obscenity is straight from the “father of the lie,” satan the devil. By assisting satan in his evil schemes, his lies and trickery, they have made themselves “children” of this demon, this snake.
As children of the devil, they will suffer the same Judgment that has been declared upon satan and the same punishment will follow.

Disgusting but not surprising since Vatican II (1962-1965) killed off the old Roman Catholic Church and which is never coming back. In its place is a modernistic, morally relativistic gobbledygook of a Christian sect which has as symptoms crap like this painting at Catholic University in DC and the present Pope, who is himself an utter disgrace.
I was raised in the Catholic Church in its very last years when it still had its institutional mind in tact—pre-Vatican II altar boy and all that, including the great benefit of learning Latin at a very early age. Well, all that is gone and now there exists a silly globalist type religion, so awful it even makes ad nauseam excuses for Islam, and which has faint remnants of what it used to be and nothing more. Personally, I am relieved I am no longer religious and in particular still a Catholic trying to cling to something that died long ago.
The death of old Catholicism is beyond sad, tragic and stupid. While it existed it often served as a bulwark against the forces of anti-civilization. It certainly was very clear eyed about the menace which is Islam, of Marxism too. All gone now. Never coming back.

Sadly again I have to agree. Coning from a similiar religous background to yourself i,too ,find it sad. Especially since the few parishes that continue doing TLM are being hounded out of existence by that left wing maniac in the Vatican
CogitoErgoSum says
Wellington, when you say the Catholic Church is all gone and never coming back, I’m reminded of what a friend of mine would say whenever some of us in jest would call him a jerk or a creep. He would respond with, “That’s what they said about Jesus.” But then I had another friend who would always say whenever someone disagreed with him, “You might be right.” Both were great guys. Life is a comedy and life is a tragedy and it’s looking more and more absurd to me all the time. Aren’t those the lyrics to an Elton John song or something? Anyway, I just want to encourage you never to give up and to say I always enjoy reading your comments. As always I wish you good health and a life of hope.

Sadly true, Wellington. Oh how I miss the wonderful reverence of the Latin Mass – now, when I occasionally sample “Mass” I just feel that God has left the building.

Valhella, even in San Francisco there are at least ten Churches that offer the Latin Mass, and quite a few here in Oakland. I imagine you can find some somehere in your neck of the woods. They are still more common than you might think..

The left has to replace all the heroes of the past who are no longer woke. Statues of Lincoln, Jefferson, WASHINGTON and all founders of America, Churchill have to be taken down, because they had slaves or favored imperialism or were sexist, etc. They have to go, so we need new figures to venerate. Down with the heroes, up with the new saints, the drug addicts, the thieves, the killers. Next the man who drove through the parade will get a book deal and leftist intellectuals will work for his early release. First St George, next St Karl Marx, St Saul Alinsky, St. Bill Ayres. Who is next?

Floyd became their new idol
Walter Sieruk says
This is terrible, this is wrong. George Floyd was a drug trafficking drug using violent threatening thief .
This is even worse than terrible and wrong. For to make a despicable criminal out to be some kind of a “saint” is an abomination.
For instead of venerating that vicious hooligan it’s much more fitting for Floyd to apply Proverbs 10:7. to his name . For that Bible verse reads “The name of the wicked will rot.” [N.K.J.V.]
Walter Sieruk says
In addition regarding that foolishness of that painting in that Catholic University , the Bible informs its reader in Isaiah 5:20. “Woe to those who call evil good…”

The manner of George Floyd’s death, or should I say “the perceived manner”, is symbolic of something that’s “not so good”. However, I simply can’t understand him being viewed as more than human. He’s a tragic figure and not a heroic one.

He should not have died as he did, but he was *no hero*.

This painting and the person who did the stupid thing are nuts. It is appalling to say that the drug dealing scumbag Floyd was in any way like Jesus, whose character and decency left Floyd’s evil nature way behind. I remember hearing something about this maggot, Floyd, having held a gun to a pregnant woman at some point in his evil career. Floyd was as far away from Jesus’s nature as any human being could possibly be. This painting is moronically stupid. I thought that all that crap about trying to sugar coat the crim, Floyd, and somehow try to make him into some kind of a wonderful person was bullshit, but this painting takes the idiocy to a new level.
Kepha says
Things like this make me bless God that he led me to the Puritans (the real ones; not the 19th and 20th century caricatures and misrepresentations). While I stake my soul on the proposition that the Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1), we are not told what Jesus looks like, apart from that risen and glorified figure described in Revelation One (No, I don’t call it Revyoolashuns). Considering that John, who had leaned on Jesus’ breast at the Last Supper, fell down as if dead before the ascended, glorified Jesus, I defy any iconographer to create such an image.
As for George Floyd, let God judge him.

Kelly Latimore is known for his pastiches of religious paintings.
He has depicted Fred Rogers (of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood) with a halo–whether Rogers is saintly in the religious sense or not, he was, unlike Geroge Floyd, an eminently decent man. Unfortunately, this painting is probably meant ironically.
He also has a Mother Jones with a halo, and a mother and child depicted as homeless and as Mexican immigrants illegally entering the US. He also depicts Mary as a Muslimah in Hijab.
Some of his stuff is decent, but much of it is about “social justice”, and has more to do with “poltical correctness” and “wokeness” than anything else.

I remember that the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay $27 million to settle a civil lawsuit from George Floyd’s family over the Black man’s death in police custody.
Maybe I’m overly cynical, but I wonder if Floyd’s family would give it all back if it would “bring back George”….

While I can agree that Floyd shouldn’t have died at the hands of the police, he certainly is no saint and there is probably not many who really miss him. I hardly think he was worth $27 million, when compared to the loss of first responders lives trying to protect others who’s families may only get a his or hers life insurance and pension, nothing near $27 million that is being paid to this criminals family.
Walter Sieruk says
George Floyd was a vicious hardened criminal therefore it’s very wrong to make some kind of a “hero” out of hooligan was such criminal that he not was not only on drugs but was also involved in drug trafficking .
Mr. Floyd was so totally despicable that he even entered a pregnant woman’s home under a false premise of deception to let his lawless ruffians lot her home , all the while he threateningly point a gun to that pregnant woman’s stomached ‘You better cooperate.”
The list of crimes that Floyd was guilty of can to go on. It’s absurd as well as wrong to make a “hero” out of heinously wicked thug. As the Bible reads “Woe to those who call evil good…” Isaiah 5:20. [N.K.J.V.]
