Sweden: Muhammad cartoonist Lars Vilks killed in mysterious car crash after surviving two murder attempts

The names of his police guards need to be released. As does the name of the truck driver. Note that “the rescue service and the police said it would take a lot for a vehicle to be able to pass into the other lane, given that it is separated by a wire fence.”

The advocates of the freedom of speech, among which Lars Vilks was one of the foremost, are dwindling in number, and never received the support they should have from the corrupt and compromised authorities of the West.

A Swedish artist who survived two murder attempts after drawing a cartoon of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed has died in a horror car crash.

Lars Vilks, 75, was killed Sunday when the police car he was traveling in veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a truck.

Both vehicles caught fire and the truck driver, 45, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The two police officers who were tasked with protecting Mr Vilks also died, according Swedish news outlet Expressen.

The crash is being investigated by the special prosecutor’s office.

The collision occurred just before 3pm in Markaryd, in the province of Kronoberg, Sweden.

It comes after Mr Vilks received numerous threats for drawing the Prophet Muhammad with a dog’s body in 2007.

In 2015 lone gunman Omar El-Hussein fired shots at the front of the Krudttonden cafe where Mr Vilks was taking part in a debate on free speech.

Meanwhile Colleen LaRose, 51, of Pennsberg, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to conspiring to kill Mr Vilks in 2011 and was convicted in 2014….

The car carrying Mr Vilks was reportedly travelling at a high speed before it veered into the other lane and collided with the truck, becoming wedged underneath it. Both vehicles caught fire.

Police spokesman Rickard Lundqvist said: ‘I can not say at the moment if there are any criminal suspicions.’

The busy E4 road where the crash occurred has been closed off while police speak to witnesses. It is set to re-open at around 3am.

According to Expressen, the rescue service and the police said it would take a lot for a vehicle to be able to pass into the other lane, given that it is separated by a wire fence….

  1. The only intention of Lars Vilks was to protect the freedom of expression which the Swedish Leftists have tried so hard to restrict. Since Voltaire penned his attacks on the overreaching political power of the church, Europeans have progressively demanded more freedom to dissent and express that dissent.

    Islam has come to the West as a new orthodoxy to be obeyed and Europeans and all Westerners should not accept it.

    We must maintain that we have a right to criticize every religion without exception, because people of all faiths from time to time err and break the rules of society and thus deserve criticism.

    Lars Vilks will be missed. Who will replace him?

    • Well said Mortimer. Unless it was a freak accident or they were run off the road, I’d bet that one or both of his officers were Muslims and willing to kill themselves to take out this free-speech icon.

      As the saying goes ‘freedom is not free, it’s paid with blood.’ To defend the freedom of speech, it must be backed up with force. Outspoken people like Lars Vilks and other well known critics of Islam must be defended by a well-vetted security detail.

      The news media, journalists should be given the same protection-those who speak out against Islam because the fact is that the war isn’t coming, we’re in it right now. Any Muslim can at any time go after critics of Islam.

      The problem is that our leaders still don’t take this problem seriously. Only in France does there appear to a glimmer of hope. They’re shutting down mosques and more prominent voices are openly denouncing Islam…so for me that’s very encouraging to see. They still have a very long way to go but this is a start and they’re doing much more than other western nations to fight Islam.

      Imagine escaping a theocratic fascist tyrannical Islamic state, only to go to a free country and then work to impose the same fascist tyranny they were running from. I don’t care to understand them, I just want them gone, whatever it takes, deportation or warfare they must be removed.

      • I’m sure the driver or one of the policemen were Muslim. But I’m likewise sure that it’ll be difficult to get that started in the Swedish press.

    • It will be difficult to replace Lars Vilks. He is a hero . And of course Swedish police and government tries to say that it was just “an accident, nothing to do with Lars -Vilks a wonderful protector of free speech and a true patriot.
      He was murdered by muslims(their common murders are committing by collied with a big car).

      • Evelyn Beatrice Hall, who wrote a famous biography of Voltaire, used this phrase to exemplify his views–it was only later writers who confused the two and attributed the quote to Voltaire himself..

        Mike, most influential writers and thinkers during the 18th century were well off–this should not invalidate their views as you appear to believe. The Englightenment is actually very important in the fight for freedom and human rights.

        As for Marion Sigaut (not “Sigault”), she has worked for the publishing house of Alain Soral, a neo-Nazi antisemite who hates free trade and America, and says he prefers forced veiling to women being allowed to wear thong underwear. Not sure I’d cite her as a model.

  3. Tragic indeed. But nothing will change for the brain-dead civilians vs the marauding Satan’s Ummah. That, the Swedes don’t want to live is a foregone conclusion with all the colorful no go zones.   4. Accidents happen, so I’ll reserve judgment until it is revealed who the police ‘guards’ were. I do wonder just how strong the wire fence was. What was its foundation? A car traveling at a high rate of speed might have the momentum to push through the barrier.
    We keep giving ‘ordinary’ Muslims the benefit of the doubt, but how long can it continue? In the US a Muslim policeman sitting in his patrol car took out his gun and shot an unarmed woman who had called police to report a disturbance. She’s in the ground, but today he walks free.

  7. It’s usually a good idea to wait for the facts and not jump to conclusions. But, hey, conspiracy theories can be fun so let’s start a few and see how far they’ll go.

    • Since the story of his very death has been thinly covered, what makes you think that the facts of the case will be covered, once they’re revealed?

  8. Perhaps a dog ran into the road, perhaps the driver had a sudden stroke or heart attack.

    I was on a bus once and a car coming from the opposite direction ran a stop sign and came to be in our lane. We collided, even with the best efforts of the bus driver. It was discovered that the driver of the car was suddenly taken with a heart attack just as he reached the intersection of the two roads.

    However, if the driver was mozlum….
    Or , if the other officer was mozlum, he could have reached across and did something to cause the car to veer…
    Or there could have occurred a blown tire….or something to obscure the driver’s vision.

    Because he survived two attempts on his life, one naturally begins to think that the mozlum or their accomplices have succeeded.

    Hopefully, the rest of the investigation will reveal what happened and if the driver or other officer is to blame.

    I noticed too that the writer of the account showed such **respect** for the fake ‘prophet,’ the mass-murdering, raper of children, sex-mad, slave-trading thief, filthy sack of maggot dung, lying son of satan the devil…to call this piece of filthy trash a ‘prophet’ in caps, not once, but twice. Yuck!!

    • Yes there are plenty of possibilities, most of which won’t support a juicy conspiracy theory, so why wait for the facts?

      • Just as likely as any of your other possibilities. In fact the mere fact that there were death threats and attempts made on this mans life does mean we are entitled to speculate.

          Of course we will speculate, it’s human nature to do so. But speculation often moves very quickly to become some weird conspiracy theory. The presumption is that some offended muslim(s) murdered him. The known facts of the “accident/murder” require either tampering with the vehicle, the vehicle was cut off or having him under the protection of two suicidal muslim jihadists. Does anyone seriously believe that two muslim police officers would have been assigned to protect him and that the best they could do to kill him was to join the party? What am I bid for the Brooklyn Bridge?
          Isn’t it as likely that there was an accidental mechanical malfunction or driver error?
          We’ll know eventually. This isn’t one that goes away.

        • Rarely. Of course you are right. There could be many reasons why a man under a fatwa could be killed. After all it is unheard of for muslims to do suicide attacks. Almost impossible.
          Naturally i will wait for more details as will you.
          I have to add though that with your reasoning then none of the thousands of muslim suicide attacks can actually have happened.

        • If somehow or other he was placed under the protection of two muslim jihadist police officers why commit suicide to take him out when they had so many other options that they could live through? To cover up that it was in fact a murder? Why would they care since they’d be dead anyway? Sorry, it just doesn’t compute.

        • Suicide attacks per se make no sense. It doesnt stop them happening on a regular basis.
          Anyway as we can see from a post below the “swedish” moslems appear to be happy with the final result.

  9. I’ve said for years that personal violence is the engine driving self-censorship about Islam. Whatever became of that young woman in Seattle? Why did the creators fall silent about Islam after the famous Head in the Sand South Park episode and their movie America: World Police. Since then crickets. And yes the creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker received death threats before they went silent.

    But I feel personal about Larish. I’ve gotten into a tiny share of trouble from satire, including of Moe. And as a student of Juvenal, I have a real love for a guy who laughs at what is funny, not what pleases other people

  11. From what I understand from comments here, the story of Lars Vilks’ tragic death has had limited international news coverage. The coverage in Sweden has been massive. He used to be controversial while alive, but now his former critics in the press, with odd exceptions, express condoleances or keep silent. Many muslims, however, express joy in social media.

    The police has opened a criminal investigation and does not exclude murder for the time being.

    • In my opinion, which might be incorrect, most of us here expect that mozlums were involved in some form….either as a guard for him, or they did something to the police car that caused it to crash. Perhaps they cut a fuel line, brake line, or perhaps with the tie bar…something that would cause a loss of control that at high speed would crash and burn.

      It is all very sad. A person should not die because he speaks his mind.

      Depicting mohammed as a dog is truly an insult to dogs.

      • Yes, an insult to the animals.
        The giant Philistine, Goliath, asked young David, “Am I a dog, that you come to beat me with a stick?”

        For some, being called a dog…or in the case of the art, their “prophet’ …fake through and through…being drawn as a dog, is an insult because they don’t like the animals.

        Probably, the animals don’t like them either. Dogs are “man’s best friend,” not the best friend of maggots pretending to be human.

      • James and Somehistory, my understanding is that there is a tradition in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries of the “boulevard dog”–free and stray dogs–to use in social commentary, often to take the puffed up down a peg or two (for instance, I remember a picture of a dog relieving himself on the tire of a posh car). Depicting Muhammed as a boulevard dog is meant ironically, since he is anything but. That dogs are also considered unclean in Islam is an added bonus.

        • Long before the fake ‘prophet’, dogs were unclean to the nation of the Jews. Their Law, given by God through Moses, told them which animals were clean and which were unclean.

          Later, after Jesus was murdered, was resurrected and had returned to Heaven, Peter, being obedient to the Law, was told not to call unclean the things God had “cleansed.”

          Dogs are very useful….Native Americans used them to pull their teepee materials from one camp to another, they pull Alaskans about on sleds, used in rescues of all kinds, sniff out drugs, …a million ways they prove useful…and can be ever so loyal even to someone who mistreats them.

          I believe the way people feel about them when they use them to insult others goes back to the early days of man…to the Law that God gave to Israel, but that other people came to know about.

          Dogs are a fine creation. They have some dirty habits, but they are still a wonderful animal. And they don’t like people who don’t like them and who are molesters/rapists of children.

        • Somehistory, lots of Jewish people have dogs–a good friend of mine who is Jewish ran an animal rescue group before he passed away a few years ago. I did a lot of work with them.

          But Islam hates and abuses dogs and other animals to this day.

          (And a small correction–I mentioned “boulevard dogs”, but this is the French term–the Swedish term is “roundabout dogs”).

  13. Dogs are loved by tens of millions of people who probably out number the number of islamic people who love Mohammad. Dogs don’t instruct people to do harm or hate other people, they will even love and protect muslims if treated nice. What a gift from god the dog has been for mankind.
