My latest in PJ Media:
Now that it has been revealed that Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has not been on the job since August and Old Joe Biden’s handlers apparently didn’t think the growing supply chain crisis was important enough to warrant getting someone else actually to do Pete’s job, the Democrat elites are circling the wagons. Rep. Katherine Clark (D-She/Her), the newly minted “Assistant Speaker of the House,” tweeted Friday: “Going on paternity leave isn’t being ‘MIA.’ It’s called being a parent. And @SecretaryPete is a new parent no different than the millions of other Americans who also deserve the right to care for their loved ones during birth, sickness and old age.” Biden’s chief excuse-maker Jen Psaki retweeted this and doubled down in her own comment: “Also proud to work in an Administration that is fighting to make paid leave a reality for everyone, and with people like @SecretaryPete who are role models on the importance of paid leave for new parents.” You might not have thought this administration could reach a new level of duplicity, but here we are.
Sure, going on paternity leave isn’t being MIA, if your employer knows you’re going and the tasks for which you’re responsible are being handled by someone else. Buttigieg’s employer is not Old Joe or his handlers; he works for the American people, who only discovered that he was on leave after he had been gone for weeks. That points up the absurdity of Psaki’s comment: how could Papa Pete be a role model for anyone for doing something that no one knew he was doing? As Stephen Green put it, Jen Psaki is either the stupidest person in the world, or hopes you are.
Trump’s senior adviser Stephen Miller enunciated the obvious rejoinder to Psaki: “If the goal was to have @SecretaryPete serve as a ‘role model’ why was this kept a secret and why wasn’t an Acting Secretary appointed during his leave? Under what theory of gov’t can an entire Dept have no one running it during a grave crisis for which that Dept is responsible?”
Buttigieg defended himself by saying that he was actually at work, just not at his job. “The big thing is having a newly personal appreciation for the fact that this is work. It may be time away from a professional role, but it’s very much time on.” That’s great for Pete, but the fact remains that millions of fathers and mothers have had to balance the responsibilities of work and parenthood, and didn’t have the luxury of the taxpayer base of a large industrialized nation paying their salaries while they took two months off from work to learn how to bottle-feed a baby.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Well, he’s a mommy now, unless he’s the one who contribu… never mind. Nice to know he appreciates real mothers, if not the American people in general. Pity he and his husband have to bottle-feed.
I’m afraid all the “sexual fluidity” claptrap has not improved my attitude towards the proponents of “alternative lifestyles” out there — under which I include Sharia and it’s “sacred” attitude about women — who increasingly solicit “understanding” with a raised fist.
mortimer says
Maybe instead of shirking his duties in a time of crisis, he can resign and play house. He’s useless at his job and his judgement is obviously flawed to take leave during a real crisis.
He should be fired and someone else appointed who is knowledgeable enough to stand up to the ideological BIDIOTS who are the puppeteers of the frail Old Ghost fumbling, tumbling and crumbling in the White House..
ALL OF THEM are running from responsibility. None of them have accepted that they have created CRISIS AFTER CRISIS. The lot of them have done nothing right. Even Dem supporters can’t find one thing that is commendable about any of them.

Next on the horizon: specie fluidity. You know it will become a “thing”.

That is going to be one confused kid.
Too bad he’ll fit right in with so many others….
mccode says
I forgot that there are two kids, which compounds the tragedy.
CogitoErgoSum says
Yes, I think twins, triplets or more is a common occurrence with regard to artificial insemination.
CogitoErgoSum says
Unless there has been some unannounced scientific breakthrough made recently regarding human reproduction wasn’t a woman involved somewhere along the line in the birth of Secretary Pete’s twins? Is their biological mother still alive or did she die giving birth? What’s her story? Is she considered a role model too?
mccode says
Cogito,
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the PC term is ‘birthing person’ not ‘woman’.
Lord help us all.
CogitoErgoSum says
Okay, yes, “birthing person.” I’m just assuming the “birthing person” was someone with ovaries and a uterus which to me would be a woman but who knows anymore. At least I don’t think the twins are clones since if that were the case they would both be of the same sex … but then again maybe they are ….. or maybe the one who appears to be a boy is a girl and the one who appears to be a girl is a boy …… or …. oh man, these two poor little “persons” are going to be royally screwed up in the head by the time they reach adulthood.
Infidel says
The term for women is ‘people who menstruate’ or ‘people w/ vulva’, from what I’ve followed of this societal circus
gravenimage says
Yes–even by the standards of this gender insanity “birthing person” is off the charts madness. This is by definition one thing that only “cis-gendered” women can do.
Infidel says
CES
The twins were adopted. I’m assuming that the mother was single, or that the birth dad had some sort of criminal record so that the mom wanted to lose him, or some such backstory. Otherwise who in her right mind would hand over newborn twins to a gay couple?
CogitoErgoSum says
Well, whatever the story is I’m sure it will make Secretary Pete and his husband look like stunning and brave role models for every human being to follow from this point forward to the end of recorded time. I’m sure there will be a book and a movie made about it and it will be a drama that will just leave everyone in tears.

Regular, hard-working men and women…the **real** ones…must fill out paperwork at their place of employment in order to get the time off to care for new babies; the Family Leave time has to be documented..
Where is the “paper trail”? I don’t recall seeing it with all lines filled in and signed by an authority figure.
And he can pretend all he wants to about being a “mother” and a “wife,” but pretense don’t make it so. And in this case, he wasn’t on “paid leave,” he was being paid while AWOL.
The ;U.S. Marshals should have been sent to haul him back into office and he should have to make a formal statement to his “bosses.” Then, make a payment to cover what he didn’t earn while lazing around pretending.
Any “apology” for not letting his Bosses know would be just a pretense. Of which he is very experienced.
Poor, poor, poor babies. Babies deserve so much better than this fool and his fool “partner.”
wpm says
He should be charged with “thief of services” a “common civil servant ” would be charge with a crime not working and still getting a pay check without filing the paperwork for time off for the birth of his child??. Whoever is the mother ,or wife ,or husband in this woke mess. This is what happens when you get a senile old man in the Whitehouse who cares only how many intersectional boxes are checked instead of appointing men and women who have a real track record of doing the work they are appointed for. Empty suits as President ,Vice President, Generals running the Afghanistan withdrawal, head of Transportation Buttigieg , it is like all the members of Alice in Wonderland Tea Party are running the country. Biden is like the Door mouse he can barely stay awake for a ten min. speech as he wanders back to his basement no questions please..Pasaki is the Red Queen trying to explain to the press what a great and wise leader the Door mouse is and he has a plan and a clue on how to “fix” the country!
somehistory says
If an employee who has a child, or is the spouse of one who has a child, or they have an ill family member, or they become ill, they **must** fill out the paperwork for the Family Leave Act to apply to them.
If they get it filled out and signed by a doctor, it still has to be “approved leave” by the HR department where they work.
If it is approved, then they have leave which is “unpaid” if the company wishes it that way. One just doesn’t keep getting their paycheck as though they are still on the job.
If they do not get the paper and have the doctor fill it out, they do not get the “leave” at all and can be fired. If they get the paper filled out and the HR refuses to approve, they still can be fired.
He should be losing his job and repaying the money he received.
commonsense says
Indeed. And how does anyone who has held a government job for just a few months get to go on extended family leave with full pay? Utterly, grotesquely corrupt.
wpm says
It is called “thief of service” by civil service law .In common law stealing from your employer. The elite who are appointed by our “god like” elected officials serve under a different set of rules!
gravenimage says
Actually, the federal government does give paid paternity leave. This bill was signed by President Trump in 2019–and this does include adoptions.
https://federalnewsnetwork.com/benefits/2020/08/a-few-more-things-to-know-about-the-paid-parental-leave-program/#:~:text=The%20Federal%20Employee%20Paid%20Leave,2020%2C%20are%20eligible%20under%20FEPLA.
That being said, I don’t think Buttigieg should have taken this position in February since he knew he’d soon be out for several weeks.
somehistory says
I had not read that Mr. Trump had made that change.
The paperwork still must be filled out and signed by a physician to verify the need in order to be legal. It is a Law & he should have followed it, which I’m guessing he didn’t bother.
gravenimage says
Maybe not, Somehistory.

All this is indicative of something much larger than a supply chain problem, big problem though this be. If one has retained common sense and a proper moral intelligence what we have here is an example of the failing of American society as it slowly loses its collective mind.
Infidel says
And there’s the reason that we need to have ‘human infrastructure’ in the infrastructure bill, so that all of us will get free baby-sitters/daycare specialists to take care of our kids while we’re working. Reason Sec Pete has not been able to go to work is this lack of essential human infrastructure ?

Psaki: Buttigieg is a ‘Role Model’ For Doing What No One Knew He Was Doing
…………..
If someone else had been appointed to the job while Pete was off at home this likely would not be a problem (especially given his having no background in transportation at all–not even at a local level). But to my knowledge no one was appointed acting Secretary of Transportation. Especially insane during this time, with the widespread breakdown of the supply chain, primarily at the transportation level.
Then, he was just appointed a few months ago. He should never have taken the appointment if he knew he would not be able to fullfil his duties. This was not some emergency like the sudden illness of a loved one.
He has–grotesquely–claimed that anyone concerned about his not doing his job during this crisis is guilty of “toxic masculinity”.
Wellington says
This extremely annoying human being, gravenimage, is grotesque in his entirety. I actually can stand Biden a little more than I can stand this self-righteous empty suit who was not even a good mayor of a small city of some 100,000.
He is a smooth-talking nothing and devoid of any real quality. But he perfectly represents the vacuity of our era posing as something sapient; here he is sterling.
gravenimage says
True, Wellington. Definitely acting way above his competency level.
Infidel says

There’s a reason that Biden beat the rest of the field. The only person opposing him w/ substance was a Marxist who honeymooned in Yaroslavl during Glasnost, and the rest were completely shallow, like our VP. To be fair, there were good candidates like John Delaney, but he had too much of a name recognition issue
Given how vacant he is on the issue of supply-chain management, a part of me is actually relieved that he’s not at work doing his job: he’d be way over his head. It’s better for us that he’s changing diapers every few hours (I’m hoping he doesn’t ask his office staff to do that for him)
gravenimage says
For some, his being Obama’s vice president was actually a big draw. Not for me, though.
James Lincoln says
Infidel,
Interestingly, Pres. Trump (our real president) stated that the United States would have been better off if Sleepy Joe, after being fraudulently inaugurated on January 20, 2021, had done absolutely nothing and had just gone to the beach.
No executive orders, nothing.
Just sleep and Jell-O…

Reading Buttigieg becoming a “wife” and is leaving for “paternity” leave really makes me sick. So it is not enough to simply becoming a gay, he now has to acquire what a woman has as a woman. What a sicko. And he (or maybe he prefers to be called she?) is a minister in the US. US really is becoming the laughing stock to the world (especially in Asia and Middle East, I think).
gravenimage says
For what it’s worth, Buttigieg and his parter are each others’ husbands–there is no wife. Similarly, maried Lesbians are each other’s wives–there is no husband in these unions.
somehistory says
I have read where a female will speak of her “husband” when referring to the other female with whom she pretends marriage.
Perhaps it depends on the particular humans who are making the choices and how they interpret their “union.”

One or two quotes;
“Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX): “Dem talking points: ‘The supply chain is broken down, goods can’t get in & inflation is skyrocketing…because things are so damn good. And this will continue. By winter, things will be so good…there will be no Christmas presents whatsoever!’ CNN: ‘Mmm, yes that makes sense….’”
Steven Law, CEO of Senate Leadership Fund: “I still can’t [sic] over that—in the middle of a real transportation crisis—Biden’s Transportation Secretary reappears after a lengthy secret leave when literally no one was in charge of DOT to shovel out this drivel on national TV.”
There are more comments from others re this stupidity from the idiot who believes he can be “mom.”
