Sometimes it’s hard to remember what life as a non-Muslim was like without the omnipresent and growing threat of jihad and Sharia encroachment, but the establishment media has no interest in discussing that.
“Sometimes it’s hard to remember what life as a Muslim was like before 9/11,” by Nesrine Malik, Guardian, September 13, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
I try to remember what it was like to be a Muslim before 9/11. It is hard. It gets harder every year. I think I remember that being a Muslim didn’t mean much to others, and was mostly a private identity, one that different people wore in different ways.
I feel as if, before, there was a time when a Muslim was a much more complicated, much roomier thing to be – inflected with local culture and individual circumstances. Today, you can only be a good Muslim or a bad one. Either a “moderate” or a “radical”. Either a Muslim who needs to be saved or a Muslim you need to be saved from.
There was also a time when we could fight and resolve our issues as Muslims, whatever that categorisation meant at any given point, without the west gawping, judging us as messed up individuals or societies. On 9/11, many of us became distracted from that inner work, and lined up against a more urgent external, retributive threat. We couldn’t focus on keeping our own house in order because it was on fire, or about to be.
When I try to remember what it was like before, what I am really doing is attempting to piece together when Islam went from being a multidimensional, personal identity to a flat, political one, and 9/11 feels like the day it happened….

Nesrine Malik the author of that FARTicle is so full of it.
Many years ago she wrote a FARTicle also in the al-guardian where she basically admitted that her family back in Sudan owned a little African slave boy.
She narrated the story of how her family suspected the little boy of stealing so took him to the police.
She was roasted for it., badly.
This $hit FARTicle is just islamic victimhood.
She like to appear on TV sans headscarf, flashing her legs.
It’s a giggle a day with the al-guardian
somehistory says
Thanks for that added info.

Thanks, Reuben. Nesrine Malik is a nasty piece of work. She has condemned Infidels for saying anything critical of Jihad terrorists:
“Who gets to decide who’s a patriotic soldier and who’s a terrorist?”
https://thecorrespondent.com/226/who-gets-to-decide-whos-a-patriotic-soldier-and-whos-a-terrorist/242206052748-986251e6
She has also condemned the UK for welcoming Afghan Muslims, because they will be “left to languish in the Home Offices cruel immigration system”.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/sep/06/afghan-refugees-britain-warm-welcome-cold-home-office-immigration-system
She even sneers at seeing the Taliban as villians–because it implies that the British offering asylum to fleeing Afghans are heroes. Just disgusting stuff.
There’s much more.

‘Oh, woe is me, we have been found out’, she is saying.
Many in society have discovered just how evil islam is and hold mozlums accountable for their actions.
And she doesn’t like that fact. So, it’s time to cry and whine and demand that those of us who hold mozlums accountable and say how evil islam is…in total… trip on over to the evil side with her and show sympathy for the Truth being revealed.
Wellington says
Seconded, somehistory. The truth about Islam can only reveal how malevolent it is in sundry ways. Only fools (this would include the willfully ignorant) or the deceitful among adults of the world don’t know this by now.
somehistory says
thank you, Wellington. and your statements above and below ring true.
john smith says
Spot on Somehistory and Wellington,
At every opportunity it’s always same, its us poor muslims that are the real victims of 9/11, with no consideration whatsoever for the real victims that muslims slaughtered that day.
It’s true many have discovered just how evil islam is, the trouble is we are only a tiny minority and until our numbers grow significantly islam will continue to engulf us.
somehistory says
thank you, John Smith.
And you are oh, so right. Not nearly enough people see what islam is all about.

+1
Wellington says
An analogic look into the past, to wit, “Sometimes it’s hard to remember what life as a Nazi was like before WWII.”
N.B. WWII ruined Nazism. Unfortunately, 9/11 did not ruin Islam. Thus the comparison is only somewhat apt, addressing the victim-oriented, self-pitying mindset accurately but not the final result.
Ecosse1314 says
She is lying. In the Uk in the late 80s and 90s the muzzies were marching calling for the death of Salman Rushdie..
Allied with all that the taliban and the Iranian revolution and the Iranian embassy siege in London . People with any sense before 9/11 had enough reasons to suspect Islam.
Wellington says
“People with any sense before 9/11 had enough reasons to suspect Islam.”
Agreed. Beginning in the 7th century AD.
Ecosse1314 says
Very true Wellington. As we all know there is none so blind as cannae see.
gravenimage says
True–I’d become more and more concerned about Islam even prior to 9/11. Plane hijackings, bombings in Isreal and Europe, the Iranian revolution, the bombings in Lebanon and Embassies in Africa, the attack on the Cole.
But it was 9/11 that led me at last to study Islam and see if it really did teach violence–I was not propared for the unmitigated hate I found there.
Ecosse1314 says
Very true. Before 9/11..it was given a pass because it was seen as religion that had been perverted..now we see it as a pervert that founded a religion. If indeed he existed

Agreed, Ecosse.
PRCS says
Note the use of the always undefined terms Islamophobia, extremism, and radicalism. All used to make the uninformed believe “we don’t do that” here.
She’s never heard of Anjem Choudary, apparently.
gravenimage says
Oh, she has, PRCS.
And she blames…western media for daring to report on his Islamic views:
Anjem Choudary spread hate – and it was the media who let him do it
Long before the attention-seeking al-Muhajiroun leader was linked to the London Bridge attack, Muslims despaired at the platform he was given
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/07/anjem-choudary-hate-media-al-muhajiroun-london-bridge-terror-attack
No admission that this is orthodox Islam–nor that she herself has spead apologia for much of what Chaudary preaches.

The Guardian: ‘Sometimes it’s hard to remember what life as a Muslim was like before 9/11’
………………….
I am *so* sick of this fake victim-mongering. That so much of this is being slung around on the anniversary of 9/11–as I knew it would be–is especially perverse.

*So true*.

God forbid any ‘filthy Infidel’ should say anything critical of ISIS or the Taliban. Bad dhimmis!
After all, under Shari’ah no Kufar is allowed to say anything negative about Islam.
And heaven forfend that Muslims should be distracted from their “work” by Infidels mourning the victims of Jihad terror.
PRCS says
How dare they report on his Islamic views.
Thanks for the link.
“Muslim journalists and activists spent years tearing their hair out in frustration at the platform Choudary was given.”
Because they knew he was telling the truth about their oh, so privileged religion.
Kesselman says
When you actually hear a mozzie reflecting issues of concern it always starts in the Western fashion of self-reflection—or so it seems. But the rest lacks almost no reflection at all. And the final paragraph is self-pitying and rehabilitation of Islam. So it is here.
CogitoErgoSum says
Try reading the Koran. Muslims are not supposed to live quietly. They are not supposed to leave people alone and be left alone. They are supposed to fight until everyone who is not already a Muslim is either dead or living in submission to Islam. Verse 9:29 of the Koran has never been abrogated nor has it expired. Just as there will always be those Muslims who will whine and complain about it or try to ignore it there will also always be those who will willingly obey it. It is the unchangeable command of the god they worship. They are ordered to fight against us, the ones they call Infidels – and our only choice in the matter is whether to submit to them or to fight them back. That is the bitter fruit of their accursed religion and it is what they bring to the world and what they keep alive in the world.
