Taliban breaks into headquarters of all-female orchestra, destroys musical instruments

Whenever I note that Islamic law forbids music (aside from nasheeds, a cappella songs encouraging jihad), I am excoriated as a greasy Islamophobe, but it’s nonetheless true:

Hadith Qudsi 19:5: “The Prophet said that Allah commanded him to destroy all the musical instruments, idols, crosses and all the trappings of ignorance.” (The Hadith Qudsi, or holy Hadith, are those in which Muhammad transmits the words of Allah, although those words are not in the Qur’an.)

Muhammad is also depicted as saying:

(1) “Allah Mighty and Majestic sent me as a guidance and mercy to believers and commanded me to do away with musical instruments, flutes, strings, crucifixes, and the affair of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.”

(2) “On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will pour molten lead into the ears of whoever sits listening to a songstress.”

(3) “Song makes hypocrisy grow in the heart as water does herbage.”

(4) “This community will experience the swallowing up of some people by the earth, metamorphosis of some into animals, and being rained upon with stones.” Someone asked, “When will this be, O Messenger of Allah?” and he said, “When songstresses and musical instruments appear and wine is held to be lawful.”

(5) “There will be peoples of my Community who will hold fornication, silk, wine, and musical instruments to be lawful ….” — Reliance of the Traveller r40.0

    This is a two-fer–targeting women *and* music. I hope the musicians have fled.

    • Music is the art form that gives joy, comfort and inspiration to millions of people around the world, you cannot have more perfect example of what a joyless, mean spirited and misery promoting religion Islam is. Why cannot people recognise that? The other example is the forbidding of all art forms other than architecture and calligraphy.. If Islam had succeeded in conquering Western Europe, none of what we call European culture would exist today.

  2. As far as I understand here in the Netherlands, part from the EU, is that EU countries embassies will open again. Do remember the reaction when Trump did something with the American embassy in Israel.

    But now things seem different. Afghanistan people need help, so the moderate Taliban sharia law religious diversity woke countryside boys sort of have to be given a change to stabilize the country, that always has had a customary non codified law of for instance stoning women, which might be seen as a diverse woke ritual, by modern woke intellectuals.

    In common lay mans words: the western rulers lost direction, lost geopolitical power, and try to uphold their commercial power by exercising “real politics”, meaning the ruling top echelons in the West try to prevent the country Afghanistan falling to in the hands of other commercially strong powers.

    Summarizing: do not believe this humanitarian talk from our rulers, and leave Afghanistan like it is, and do not send money, since it is a problem of the neighbours: also these refugees. America first, like here Europe First, AND NOT sweet talking commercial thinking Biden and Google, mr. Bezos and mr Gates first…

      Of course this means ipso facto recognition of the Taliban. This is worse than it was 20 years ago, when the bloody Taliban was at least isolated.

      And this is at a time when the Taliban is still holding Americans hostage. None of this bodes well for the safety of any of these Embassies’ staffs.

        And, as most Jihad Watchers know, the Taliban now has billions in US military equipment, as well as the support of China, Iran, and Pakistan to a much greater extent than 20 years ago.

        And good gravy, the foreign “humanitarian” support is flowing in.

  4. Of course they destroyed the musical instruments! They have the intelligence of chimpanzees. They don’t have the intelligence to understand any music. The thought that any sub-human muslim could understand a Bach Cantata or even actually beat a drum in time is beyond their capabilities. The Chinese will take them to the cleaners. That’s the only funny thing about this situation. They don’t REALLY think the Chinese are their friends, do they?

  5. Beyond disgusting. Very Islamic though. What a repulsive religion Islam indubitably is. And which is why I leave NO willing adult Muslim off the hook. All willing adult Muslims are complicit with evil, specifically the longest-lived and best disguised form of evil in all of man’s history—Islam. It matters not that many Muslims don’t want to fulfill all of Islam’s heinous dictates; they still adhere to a belief system that has these dictates immutably and thus remain culpable.

    Islam sickens me. It should sicken a lot more people than it does. Oh yes, Islam is still getting a pass and, collectively speaking, man is an idiot for allowing this to continue. BTW, I just wanted to also note that the Taliban are extremely good Muslims, some of the best of Muslims, emulating the reputed Profit (just can’t bring myself to call the bastard “Prophet’) superbly so. And one knows this or should know it.

    Islam was founded in the muck and mire of the human condition rather than in humanity’s ascendancy as exampled by such figures as Shakespeare and Beethoven, Jesus too I might add. Islam is a recipe in sundry ways for the closing of the mind. One of those ways is music, which Plato considered the greatest of the arts because it, per Plato, transports the spirit of mankind to higher degrees in this imperfect life on Earth more so than any other of the arts. Fitting therefore that Islam considers music haram since Islam crushes the spirit all the while demanding submission and no questioning. As I said, a reprehensible belief system, but it is imperative to understand that the Taliban are some of the “finest representatives” of this rotten belief system and all those averring otherwise are either liars or ignoramuses.

      All able-bodied adult Muslims are responsible for their actions. In that I include the people of Afghanistan. 99% of Afghans want Sharia law to be the law of the land. Why should any of us care about Muslim Afghans who claim to be suffering under the Taliban? For anyone in the West to think we can create a functioning inclusive democracy in the Islamic world is pure fantasy. If they want to be free, let them fight it out with their fellow Muslims. In Afghanistan, this means some Afghans must be willing to fight the Pashtun, but are they willing to do so? I doubt it.

        100% true statement.

        The Afghan people were given the opportunity for at least some semblance of a “semi-Western” style government.

        They formally rejected it in 2004 when their new Constitution described Afghanistan as an Islamic Republic – with sharia law.

        In the handwriting was on the wall even before that.

        Regardless, with their new Constitution, it was game over and the United States should’ve very carefully withdrawn at that point.

        • I’m not an orchestra person, but if I were, somehow I doubt that I’d be flocking to see the performance of the Kabul Philharmonic. New York or Israel or Vienna Philharmonics, maybe, Kabul Philharmonic, not so much ?

      • I see nowhere, PMK, where we disagree.

        The entire Islamic world needs to be cordoned off as much as the Communist world was during the Cold War. But Islam is actually far more nefarious than Communism because it hides behind its religious veil very effectively. Fools a lot—but only fools, though there are, tragically, many of them in the West today.

        Double diligence in order by the West where Islam is concerned. Sadly, the exact opposite continues to happen. The West still proceeds in “idiot mode.”

  6. I wonder what the “Squad” has to say about this and the banning of females in sports.

    • Ilhan Omar has made vague references to Afghanistan being “war torn”–mostly in the context of blaming the US and demanding that we import hordes more Muslims migrants–but has never that I have seen actually said anything criticial of the Taliban.

      Then Rashida Tlaib has claimed that the US supported the Taliban before they even existed:

      She’s never actually said anything directly critical of the Taliban either that I have seen. Same with AOC–although she also blames the US and wants more Afghan migrants. I haven’t seen much of anything from Ayanna Pressley–she seems increasingly left out of stuff on the “Squad”–definitly hard left, but not generally quite as unhinged as the other three.

    Whats sad is the Biden Administration will send these crooks millions of our tax dollars as soon as the Taliban says they will “think” about WOMENS RIGHTS.

    Our political leaders always think they can just through money at a problem and that will fix it. Thats the easy way out, it’s a lot easier to hand out money than to role up your sleeves and do the work.

    Sometimes money is the problem, when you fund the lavish life styles of these crooked foreign leaders you are NOT winning the hearts of the citizens.

    I hear the ex-president of Afghanistan left town with a couple hundred MILLION of American tax dollars.

    WOW that pisses me off, along with a lot of Afghan citizens also, and I would hope American tax payers who just got the shaft again.
