The last two terrorists – of the six who had escaped from Gilboa Prison on Sept. 6, have been captured in Jenin by Israeli forces, without a shot needing to be fired. Elder of Ziyon has a full report.
Early In the morning of September 19, Israeli forces captured the last of the six terrorists who had escaped from Gilboa prison.
Palestinian leaders are scrambling to pretend that this was a “victory.”
As we’ve noted, everything they say is through the lens of the honor/shame culture. In order to claim this as a victory, they must position this as if the escapees brought them honor and the Israelis shame.
The official Palestinian Wafa news agency quotes an official as to the many reasons this was a wonderful episode:
– “The prisoners won the moment they came out of a tunnel they prepared with the handles of the frying pans, with their nails, with their patience, their will, with their courage that approaches the limit of the miraculous, they defeated the security and military system and its endless arrogance.”
They “defeated the security and military systems” of Israel? Not for very long. Four of the six were picked up within five days of their escape; less than two weeks from the date of the escape, the last two were taken prisoner in Jenin. Since in all cases the fugitives meekly surrendered, rather than put up any kind of a fight, it hardly seems fitting to describe them as exhibiting a “courage that approaches the limit of the miraculous.” Nowhere did they display “courage.” The Palestinians have doctored the photographs of the men, changing them so that they no longer show the six as they really were — haggard, exhausted, downcast, and scared when they surrendered — but now exhibiting broad smiles, and eyes shining bright with a triumph.
– “The prisoners also won when they united all the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Gaza and the territories of 1948, and in the diaspora as well. Everyone without exception felt that these were his children, brothers or neighbors. Everyone was with them moment by moment counting for them the hours of freedom.”
-“The prisoners were victorious when people forgot, for a moment, which organizations they belong to, and they became Palestinians only. No one thought about their political or party affiliation.”
More baseless boasting from the Palestinian propagandists. The episode demonstrated not the “unity of all the Palestinian people,” but quite the opposite: the four fugitives first caught had asked for help from Israeli Arabs, who not only refused it to them but promptly reported them to the Israeli police, leading to their swift capture. This part of the story has been conveniently overlooked by the Palestinian triumphalists, who have imagined a “united Palestinian people” standing foursquare with the fugitives: “everyone without exception felt that these were his children, brothers, or neighbors.” Apparently, those Israeli Arabs who reported the movements of the fugitives are not to be considered part of “everyone.”
– “The prisoners were morally victorious, when they refused to resort to Arab families in the 48 lands so as not to expose them to accountability and abuse, and they triumphed when they touched the soil composed of the remains of their ancestors over thousands of years.”
But the four fugitives did try to “resort to Arab families in the 48 lands” – meaning Israeli Arabs – but were turned down. No one offered them a place to stay, or food; instead, they were forced to sleep rough on the ground, or inside truck garages. The last two, on he other hand, did receive shelter in a house in Jenin. We needn’t bother unduly with the ridiculous claim that the fugitives “triumphed when they touched the soil composed of the remains of their ancestors over thousands of years.”
– “The prisoners were victorious when they defeated the war machine, its eyes, its planes, its dogs, and its intelligence, and they were able to reach Jenin, despite the massive deployment of army forces at every meeting point between the West Bank and the 1948 territories.”
How exactly did the fugitives “defeat the war machine”? The last two Arabs made it to Jenin, which is exactly where the Israelis had predicted they would go, given their family ties to the city. The IDF and Shin Bet located the precise house where they were hiding, and while surrounding it, the IDF had as a diversionary tactic sent troops to several other parts of the city in order to distract the locals from congregating near the house where the fugitives were located, where they might have tried to interfere violently with the arrests. As the IDF had hoped, there was no interference with the arrests, the forlorn fugitives, at the end of their tether, gave themselves up without a fight.
-“The captives won when they preferred to surrender themselves in order to preserve the lives of the people who sheltered them in their home. They were not willing to sacrifice people.”…
The four fugitives first caught were not being sheltered by Israeli Arabs, who had rejected their implorations for help, and instead had reported on their whereabouts to the Israeli police. These four gave themselves up not “to preserve the lives of the people who had sheltered them in their homes” – there were no such people – but only in order to preserve their own lives. As for the last two fugitives, they too gave themselves up, surrounded as they were, not to “preserve the lives of the people who had sheltered them” – had they really cared about those lives, they would never have hidden in their houses to begin with – but, again, to save themselves.
Elder of Ziyon notes that the Palestinians envision an Israel that is nearly “invincible” and therefore, if it does make mistakes – and Israel made many mistakes at Gilboa Prison that have been owned up to by prison authorities, and are swiftly being corrected – these mistakes constitute a Palestinian “victory” over the Jewish state.
Hamas was even more explicit in what we’ve mentioned before, that the Palestinian celebrations weren’t for the very temporary “freedom” of terrorists, but in Israeli humiliation, saying that the capture of the last two terrorists doesn’t make up for the claim that they “made the enemy a puppet that everyone laughs at.”…
Is everyone really “laughing at” Israel? After all, the Shin Bet, the police, and the IDF, working together, managed to recapture four of the fugitives within five days of the prison break, and the remaining two fugitives a week later. Is this cause for derision – or for admiration at how quickly the Israelis managed to find and take all six into custody, without needing to fire a shot, these exhausted and despondent fugitives? Even if the Palestinians have omitted from their own communiques all mention of the Israeli Arabs who provided information on the escapees to the Israeli police, the rest of the world has learned of that cooperation.
The Palestinians have chosen to add to their store of self-delusion. They don’t mention the repeated rebuffs by Israeli Arabs of the fugitives’ requests for help, who instead of offering them shelter, chose to alert the Israelis. They describe the fugitives giving themselves up as an act of “courage,” made so as to “preserve the lives of the people who had sheltered them.” But the first four fugitives who surrendered were not protecting others “who had sheltered them”; no one had been sheltering them; they gave up – tired, hungry, scared — because they had no other choice. As for the last two, captured in a house in Jenin, they gave themselves up without a fight because, like the other four, they saw no way out. They were not “protecting” those who had allowed them to hide in the house. Had those people not been present, the two fugitives would still have given themselves up.
Now all six fugitives are back in Israeli custody, less than two weeks since the prison break..They will be split up, sent to different cells in different prisons. Their sentences will be lengthened. Israel will do what it must to correct the several mistakes that led to the successful prison break. The Palestinians will continue to describe that break, with four of fugitives caught “only” after five days, and the remaining two “only” after thirteen days, as a tremendous “victory” for the Palestinians. But no one of any sense sees it that way.

There must be some sort of finishing school for these deadshits who run the propaganda machines of totalitarian regimes.
The same sort of drivel comes out of North Korea, Communist China, and the old Stalinist regime of the Soviet Union.
It’s aimed at uneducated peasants who are nothing but slaves and cannon fodder for the state.
BUT, it does demonstrate the levels of contempt that Hamas have, not just for their own people, but for the infidels and the idiots in the leftist media who drink their own cool aid by the gallon.
