Please stop hoping for an Islamic Reformation along the lines of the Christian one. While I’m a big fan of Hus, Waldo, Wyclif, Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Tyndale, and Knox, an Islamic Reformation would be a very different matter, and it’s already happened with the Wahhabis.
A Reformation is a call to a tradition to return to its sources and follow those sources with a greater degree of integrity. That was done by both the Reformers, who appealed to the Old and New Testaments, and the Wahhabis, who appealed to Qur’an and Hadith. The Bible offers a great deal of historical context, which has given its readers a sense of historical development; its insistence on the sinfulness of mankind teaches the restraint of power, and its teaching that we are saved by grace rather than our own exertions calls us to humility. The Qur’an and Hadith, however, encourage boasting and pride. The OT and NT show us the exile of Judah, the crucifixion of Christ (prior to his resurrection), hints of the coming martyrdoms of apostles, and so teach that the chosen of God may “lose” in the eyes of the world; the Islamic sources teach that prophets can’t fail, and so leave their followers prey to insane conspiracy theories when things head south.
The Islamic reform that uncle Kepha supports is a widespread conversion of Muslims to Jesus the Messiah as he is presented in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. I wince whenever some well-meaning State Department spox who is both ignorant of his own forbears’ beliefs and blithely supposes that the jettisoning of traditional beliefs is a sine qua non for elite status, calls for a supposed “reform” of Islam. I’m sure Muslims note the same and feel far more insulted than invited.

Islam cannot be reformed” because it’s too intrinsically deceptively violent , vicious , and deadly to become “straighten out ” as changed into a truely “non-violent, peaceful religion.”
Likewise Islam can’t be “reformed” it’s ,in essence , a religion that is heartless and completely lack caring and compassion for people. As in the horrendous murderous violence of Islamic terrorism as well as the vicious and malicious tradition of FGM and “honor killing” to be numbered as a “non-violent religion.”
As it’s written in the Bible “What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be numbered.” Ecclesiastes 1:15. [N.K.J.V.]
More fundamental Islamic belief:
“The word of your lord is perfected in truth and justice. None Can Change His Words. He is the all hearing, the all knowing.”
Qur’an 6:115
Unfortunately, the so-called “Reformers” haven’t read the memo yet.
