Girl Weeps As Taliban Approaches: ‘We Don’t Count Because We Were Born in Afghanistan. No One Cares About Us.’

On Friday, the courageous Iranian dissident Masih Alinejad, whom the Islamic Republic recently tried to kidnap in New York and take back to imprisonment, torture, and death in Tehran, posted a video on Twitter of a young Afghan woman. As the tears fall down her face, the woman says: “We don’t count because we were born in Afghanistan. I cannot help crying. I have to wipe my tears to be able to film this video. No one cares about us. We’ll die slowly in history. Isn’t it funny?”

No, it’s as tragic as this woman feels it to be, and the reason why it is happening gets right to the heart of why the American mission in Afghanistan failed so completely, and left young women such as the one in this video without anyone to defend them from the Taliban.

The woman in the video is not wearing a hijab, which gives the immediate impression that she is not an observant, Sharia-adherent Muslim. Political and military realities that are rapidly changing now may have obscured the fact for her, but this woman is not being abandoned now. She was abandoned years ago, in one of the foremost mistakes of our two-decade-long series of mistakes in Afghanistan.

In our early years in Afghanistan, once the Taliban was toppled, we set about nation-building, initially with an eye toward establishing a Western-style constitutional republic in Afghanistan. But State Department foreign policy experts drastically underestimated the Afghan people’s attachment to Islamic law (Sharia), and disastrously discounted Sharia’s political aspects in the naïve belief, fueled by Islamic apologists in the U.S., that Islam was a religion of peace that was perfectly compatible with Western secular models of governance.

The opposition to Sharia quickly gave way to their desire to be culturally sensitive. The Melbourne Forum on Constitution Building noted in 2018 that “most of the external actors, including the United States, American church groups and the United Nations, initially attempted to marginalise the role of Islam and Sharia in favor of liberal rights and freedoms. However, understanding that Islam and Sharia are entrenched parts of Afghan constitutional culture, foreign advisers such as Yash Ghai and Barnett Rubin, who were directly involved in the drafting process convinced external assistance providers to stand aside and leave Afghans to make choices on these sensitive constitutional questions.”

And so the Afghan Constitution that Afghanistan’s then-President Hamid Karzai formally ratified on January 26, 2004, begins “in the name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful” and is written in the name of “We the people of Afghanistan, believing firmly in Almighty God, relying on His divine will and adhering to the Holy religion of Islam.” The Constitution notes its appreciation for the “jihad and just resistance of all the peoples of Afghanistan.” It declares that “Afghanistan shall be an Islamic Republic, independent, unitary and indivisible state,” and that “the sacred religion of Islam is the religion of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.” The significance of this is spelled out explicitly: “No law shall contravene the tenets and provisions of the holy religion of Islam in Afghanistan.”

    • Why just ‘now’? It’s always the job of the natives of any country to care about their own people: it’s not our job to send our bravest there to die on their behalf. One thing good about this Taliban takeover is that the neocons will no longer have any pretext on which to leave our troops in the vicinity of the Hindu Kush

      The ‘army’ that we had trained over 20 years just folded the moment we withdrew: maybe Masih Alinejad should glare at them for being such cowards, instead of at us for calling it a day

      • Just listening to Peter Hitchens saying Britain is dead and that it began when Britain sent its young men to die to fight Germany; that the incalculable loss and cost impacts them still. Although we feel for the children in Afghanistan, how much can the world do for people who sacrifice their own children to islam and have done so for 14 centuries and will do it for 14 more? Muslims? Step up.

        • The idea that Britain died by daring to defend against being invaded and conquored by the Nazis is just grotesque. Peter Hitchens has regularly sneered at Britain for opposing the Fascists.

          As for Jihad, he has said that “I have a lot of quarrels with Islam, but I, and many traditional British Christians like me, have a lot in common with Muslims”–of course, this is claptrap, unless he now wants to turn Britain into a brutal Shari’ah state.’

          He considers Muslims “modest”–I suppose he considers forced veiling, polygamy, forced marriage, child marriage, rape, and sex slavery “modest”–Muslims do. He considers this “strong family feeling”. Unbelievably, he has called Muslims “allies against moral decadence”.

          He laughs at violent “extremism”, and deems preaching Jihad murder freedom of speech.

          He also muses that a Muslim conquest of Europe might have been a good thing.

    Not just Afghanistan. In India too Muslims overwhelmingly endorse sharia. In truth there is no dichotomy between taleban and afghani Muslims. Why are we in denial ?

        Dhimmi hindus are very fond of embracing inimical muslims within India too. We speak the same language(s) , eat the same food (more or less) . Ever hostile muslims always refuse to integrate. Out of fear dhimmi hindus keep making conciliatory noises tracing their Hindu ancestry ‘’ we share the same DNA” , “ only among tolerant hindus you are safe” yada yada. One such dhimmi belonging to RSS wrote an odious article sucking up to them in a Tamil magazine.

        The very next week a muslim replied unambiguously stating “ once upon a time we might have had Hindu ancestors…so what….today we unanimously endorse sharia…..”.

        Muslims are quite upfront and candid. It is dhimmi hindus who wallow in denial making several appeasements.

        • Sad to hear about the ‘Dhimmi Hindus’. They are not helping the cause of harmony by giving up their rights. Rights once established by law should be rigorously maintained and not fiddled with.

          Robert Spencer’s ‘Did Muhammad Exist?’ should be translated into Urdu because leaving Islam is the only way for Muslims.to live in peace with us kafirs.

They haven no idea of what Islam stands for ,nor do they care ! .The Hollywood muslim actors are their greatest heroes and they worship them on a pedestal . No wonder India was ruled my Moghuls for nearly 300 years but the tragedy is that they have not learned anything from it .

    • India needs to stop expecting to build business relationships w/ countries in Central Asia to win a one-upsmanship game against Pakistan. Just like Indian muslims don’t appreciate anything that Indian governments do for them, similarly muslim countries don’t and won’t appreciate anything that India does for them. India should stop exploring opportunities w/ the likes of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and so on, and instead look East and work w/ ASEAN countries like Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Philippines, et al (But be wary of Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia, though)

Be it bjp or congress or any GODDAMNED party all of them plunder money exclusively from Hindus’ Temples and tax them also. Make them pay for electricity too. Leave mosques and churches untouched calling them ‘’minorities’’. This is called ‘secularism’’ in dhimmi Indian parlance.

        In fact most muslims of india do not pay taxes. They monopolize so called ‘’unorganized sector’. And extort money in the name of halal certification. India has long ceased to belong to Hindus.

        • A political revolution needs to happen in India. Either Modi himself should get replaced as prime minister, preferably by Yogi Adityanath, or if that can’t happen, another Hindutva party should be started that makes Hindutva its central plank, and dumps the idea of working for the well being of muslims. Key part of it should be the complete release of the control of Hindu temples & organizations, shut down major islamic institutions like Aligarh muslim university, Jamia Milia university and others like them. Implement NRC aggressively, and dismiss the Mumtaz government in Calcutta. And so on

          The BJP has been plotting a growth path by imagining that it has a lock on the Hindu vote, and can pander to muslims and others to increase their vote share and political stability. India needs another right wing Hindutva party to put a price tag on such pandering: for every x number of muslim votes that the BJP stands to get, it loses y number of Hindu votes. Then and only then will this pandering stop

    • Heck, there was also the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. There is no reason that any Afghan refugees should be allowed here, unless they are verifiable apostates from islam. We should formally recognize the Taliban regime, and ask them to ensure that none of their people flee their country as refugees. Or if they do, just go to the neighboring countries – Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan or Kazakhstan

  4. A Biden official bemoaned the disaster there (her statement was quickly removed), saying they’d “empowered” the women of Afghanistan. No, they lied to themselves and the world about what islam actually is, thereby setting up generations of women for the hardest fall of all. But hey, that Biden official is still warm and safe in her DC swamp.

  5. Sad to read this, of course; but I can’t help thinking of the many Mohammedan females who came to the west – supposedly as “refugees” from Mohammedan oppressors – only to adopt the pose of “Proud Muslim Woman”, “Proud Wearer Of Hijab”, and so forth.

    Western nations should put the safety and interests of their OWN CITIZENS first, and not get suckered by emotional MSM reports into believing they have a duty to be the universal saviours of humanity.

  6. I suppose that people, facing the horrible fate that women in Afghanistan will face when the Taliban take control, would say something like this. I don’t think that what she says makes sense. The USA, and also British and Australian troops have spent years in Afghanistan, lost many lives, the taxpayers of those countries have spent large amounts of money trying to achieve something in Afghanistan, so it makes no sense to say that no-one cares about Afghanistan and its people. I think that maybe no-one should care about Afghanistan. It seems like a hopeless place. Also, I see no sign that Muslims ever care about non-Muslims anywhere, so I don’t think we should care about them. Any caring always seems one way and there’s never any pleasantness from Muslims to non-Muslims that I can see. Maybe it is up to the Afghanis to fix their own hopeless, backward country. Unfortunately, it’ll never happen.

    • Thanks for those comments. I do feel sorry about the fate of girls and women because these taliban knuckle draggers will obviously treat them appallingly. However, i was annoyed by the whining from this Muslim about how no-one cares for them because they are from Afghanistan and, no doubt she means, because they are Muslims. It is the usual Muslim stance of always being victims. I meet the occasional pleasant Muslim, but, in general, Muslims don’t give a damn about non-Muslims. So much money has been poured into Afghanistan, and lots of our soldiers killed or maimed. I don’t know how many Americans or British soldiers died there, but close to 50 Australians were killed there and many others had their health, physical and mental, totally buggered through their experiences there. I see TV news of the people living in Afghanistan and it looks like a hideous, primitive place that no civilised country should care about. It is up to the local people to try to become more civilised and make some progress even though I can’t see it ever happening..

      • Tim, there have been 3,500 coalition deaths in Afghanistan, of which more than 2,300 have been US soldiers. A further 20,660 US soldiers have been injured in action (sorry, I don’t have information on other coalition injuries). But this gives you a general idea of the terrible toll.

        • Thanks for the information, gravenimage. Appalling loss of life and also lives of former soldiers that are blighted forever. I’m sure it is the same in the USA, in the UK as well, but suicide by our former soldiers is a big problem here in Australia. It is way above the average suicide rate. I suppose that post traumatic stress, being haunted by what they have seen in crap holes like Afghanistan, contributes. I recall that some of the Australian soldiers were murdered back at the base by some Afghani, that was supposed to be working with them, but turned around and killed them. I doubt whether soldiers in Afghanistan would have been able to relax because they could not trust any of the Muslims around them. What a rotten place to have to go and spend time.

    If the Afghani women are brought to the U.S., they would quickly forget the circumstances that brought them here and stay with the ideology of Mohammad. I have grave apprehension regarding the hundreds of the males being brought here as a reward for their being interpreters during the war. By the time their families are brought here, they will number in the thousands!

    THEY have ruined the CA. city I live in. People here are clueless as to THEIR plans. Like Thomas Sowell, I am glad I won’t live to see the great decline, not only from THEM but also our government, local State and Federal.

    I have a lot of sympathy for this woman, but I note that she appears to have no problem with her fellow Muslims doing nothing to protect her. And why would they? That would be un-Islamic.

    • The coalition forces should have partitioned Afghanistan. A pashtun nation and all the others. Lots of little countries fighting each other to death.

      • Not just that, they should have taken it a step further: abolish the country Afghanistan, which didn’t exist before the 1700s, and hand over each part to a neighbor. Like all the Pashtun parts like Kandahar, Jalalabad, Khowst,… could have gone to Pakistan, the Tajik areas like Kunduz to Tajikistan, Uzbek and Turkmen areas to those 2 countries, and Hazara and western cities like Herat to Iran. That way, no fighting over power, and each of the neighboring countries could have started absorbing their new territories

  15. The Taliban, when they have restored themselves to total power in Afghanistan they will rule that land by Sharia law which denies the rights of women because it’s full of brutal, cruel harsh and ruthless Islamic misogyny

    Furthermore, it should be made known that the actual origin of Sharia law is revealed in a Time –Life book with the title MESOPOTAMIA: THE MIGHTY KINGS copyright 1995. The point is this history book about the ancient pagan world of Mesopotamia informs the reader that “many Islamic laws resemble the Babylon and Assyrian forebears.” .page 150.

    There is the above and other references imply that such pagan teachings were incorporated into the religion that Muhammad manufactured and then started.

    Thus this further reveals that a lot of ancient paganism is part of the whole religion of Islam.

    In other words, ancient paganism makes up much of Islam. Therefore Islam with is Sharia law are a hoax.

  16. That Joe Biden had ordered the US pullout from Afghanistan is an action that reveals the horrendous futility of this wat in many tragic ways.

    After all the Americans who died and the many other who had been terrible wounded and over a trillion dollars of wasted American taxpayers money invested in that awful mayhem is also awful.
    This is also tragic for the females natives in Afghanistan because with Islam, women will never have equal rights with men.

    It will only become worse for women after the Taliban regains in power in that country.

    For example, on the morning of April 17, 2019 on FOX NEWS television the subject was covered about the idea of having “peace talks “with the Taliban. Viewing the history of the Taliban when they were in power in Afghanistan and the brutal ruthless misogyny they had engaged in was both vicious and malicious to the extreme.

    Therefore the question, naturally, was brought up, now that peace talks” might soon begin, the Taliban was asked if they return to power in Afghanistan “ would they respect female rights ?”
    To that question the Taliban replied “that when back in power they would respect.
    Women‘s rights but only to the limits of the cultural of will they permit those rights of women.”

    The point is that the “cultural of Afghanistan” is really the religion of Afghanistan, which is Islam.
    Therefore the reality is that female rights, for both girls and woman, will not exist in a future Taliban controlled Islamic state of Afghanistan. For Islam is a religion of harsh and malice- filled misogyny.

    As explained in the book, by Brigitte Gabriel, of the title THEY MUST BE STOPPED. Her book informs the readers on page 172. “Woman in Islam are considered unclean, deemed inferior even to dirt.”

  17. Already news has gotten out that Taliban are so viciously misogynist that they been hunting down girls and women, like animals, and raping them.

    It also came out that the Taliban have even chosen specific women to hunt down and kill for “sport.”
    No wonder those Taliban monsters want the journalists out of Afghanistan.

    For the Taliban are the epitome and personification of total, undeluded Islamic evil.
