Despite that, “Larmond, 30, was statutory released from prison in December 2019,” just weeks at most after it was noted that he was still a violent jihadi.
Now he has been released from a halfway house. What could possibly go wrong?

Carlos Larmond, the Ottawa terror twin jailed in 2015 for trying to leave the country to fight for ISIS, has been released from a Calgary halfway house and is starting over as a newly-married man with his sights on entrepreneurship.
The former Vanier crack dealer’s rapid descent into radicalization was at the urging of his dominant twin brother. He was arrested while boarding a plane for Frankfurt with the hopes of making it to Syria to fight for ISIS. His brother started recruiting the would-be jihadi and others after his own plans to join ISIS were scuttled when his passport was revoked.
The RCMP case against the twins was anchored in wiretap evidence that captured their extremist plans and many hateful conversations about wanting to kill infidels. The twins pleaded guilty and Carlos, for his part, was sentenced to seven years for trying to leave Canada to join a terrorist group and uttering threats to kill jail Ottawa guards.
Larmond, 30, was statutory released from prison in December 2019 and was living at a Calgary halfway house until last month, when the parole board lifted that condition, citing his progress and solid release plan. Police — who were contacted by Larmond — have not expressed any concern about his release plan, according to the parole board.
His progress has been significant in the last few years, for Larmond was once such a security threat inside that he was transferred to the Special Handling Unit (SHU), the country’s super-maximum prison in Quebec. (The SHU has caged the most heinous criminals, including Clifford Olson, Karla Homolka, Luka Magnotta and Maurice “Mom” Boucher.)…
By his own account — documented in a joint APTN and Ottawa Citizen special report in 2016 — Carlos Larmond’s life story is pretty crummy — from a bleak childhood scarred by poverty and domestic abuse to his drug dealing days in Vanier to the time, in his early 20s, when his brother introduced him to a murderous form of Islam….
Larmond impressed the parole board in a big way considering that just in 2019 his classification was changed to medium-security offender with a high risk to public safety.
“You have not shown significant indications of change since incarceration, with you attempting to radicalize others and threatening authority figures,” a parole board member wrote in late November 2019.
At the time, one parole board member said: “Had you followed through with these plans, you would likely have been directly or indirectly involved in the killing and injuring of many people.”
“While your violent history is limited, you displayed a significant commitment to your cause and continued to engage in those beliefs while incarcerated,” the parole board member wrote in an in-office review of the case in 2019.
After credit for time served in pre-trial custody, Larmond was sentenced to five years in 2016. He has been freed under a law that requires federal offenders to be released after serving two-thirds of a fixed sentence. In this statutory-release law, the offender serves the rest of the sentence in the community….
In the RCMP wiretaps, Carlos expressed hatred for Imams who preach modern Islam. He said they’re worse than infidels because they tell Muslims to sharpen pencils instead of knives.
When Larmond was jailed in 2016, the judge said his terrorism plans were a betrayal of the teachings of Islam and hoped the young man had learned the errors of his ways.

Carlos Larmond is still a threat to society. He is an unrepentant terrorist who may yet commit acts of terrorism. He still believes that Islamic terrorism is divinely inspired.
The only way to dissuade people like Carlos Larmond from a life of jihadism is to convince them that the Koran is of human origin.

I’am sure he will become an upright citizen. Counseling always works on criminals better than punishment. Just ask the defund the police politicians who have high paid armed security guarding them. Why don’t they just have some counselors with them to talk to the people who want to harm or rob them.
If it works so good for the public it should work for the politicians as well. And the politicians can afford it because us tax payer foot the bill.
