Zamzami Abdul Bari said that marriage remains valid even after death adding that a woman also too had the same right to engage in sex with her dead husband….
But it seems his view on partners having sex with their deceased partners has found its way to Egypt one year on.
Egyptian prominent journalist and TV anchor Jaber al-Qarmouty on Tuesday referred to Abdul Samea’s article in his daily show on Egyptian ON TV and criticized the whole notion of “permitting a husband to have sex with his wife after her death under a so-called “˜Farewell Intercourse” draft law.”
“This is very serious. Could the panel that will draft the Egyptian constitution possibly discuss such issues? Did Abdul Samea see by his own eyes the text of the message sent by Talawi to Katatni? With all due respect, I must disagree with you. I have never come across any Christian or atheist-Christian et all mocking Hindu gods. In India we have thousands of Ganesh or Ganpathi streets which are never mocked or ridiculed by anyone, not even by Muslims I know of. Sati appears to have become common by about 500 BCE. It did, however, become more widespread following the Muslim invasions.
But the implication that this was only practiced out of fear of Muslim rape makes no sense. For instance, there has been a (thankfully rare) resurgence of this grim practice recently which obviously has no link to Muslim behavior, but is treated as a devout Hindu practice.

In ancient Hindu history, it was not practiced in the era of the Ramayan, but it was in the era of the Mahabharat, which was several generations later. And it was something that only some widows followed, even though the lot of widows who chose to survive was nothing to write home about
Jauhar was a completely different custom that Rajputs devised only when they saw the first of the Arab invasions. In the 7th century, when the Arabs invaded Sind, they captured 2 Sindhi princesses and sent them to Baghdad, to Hajjaj ibn Yousuf, as Mohammed bin Qasim’s concubine gifts to the governor. The 2 princesses realized that they were being sent to be raped, so they tore up each other’s hymens w/ their hands, and told Yousuf that Mohammed bin Qasim had raped them before sending them to him. This infuriated the governor so that he had Mohammed bin Qasim executed. Later on, their trick was somehow discovered, and the 2 princesses were walled to death
At any rate, this news of their capture got to other Rajput rulers, so they now devised a new practice to protect their citizens from rape and necrophilia in case a city fell.
